So What Did You Think Of The Contract Singing?
Michrome replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in The WWE Folder
Oh, he definitely won't outwork Benoit, he's not capable of doing so. What he might do though, is no-sell offense, and do all sorts of flashy stuff that turns the crowd to his side. He's done it before. -
Paul London vs. American Dragon (4/12/03) is worlds better than anything Shawn has ever done. Maybe if you'd watch his pimped Indy matches, you'd know that they were completely psychology-based, and had better selling than Shawn has ever done. In the beginning, he was an average Indy spot guy, but by the end, he was awesome. What exactly do you mean by WWE style, anyway? Watered down wrestling that uses ref bumps to create drama for nearfalls?
-
He's no longer that great, but in 95? Hell yes, without a doubt.
-
Yes. The fact that someone is too dense to understand what makes a match great doesn't make it any less great.
-
"DUED THE AVERAGE FAN KNOES WHO RANDY SAVAGE IS NOT AJ STYLES!1!1!"
-
Way to use logic to defend your positions! If this was an essay in First Grade, you'd get an F. How can a match where Shawn decided to completely ignore the backwork be match of the year? I mean, it doesn't even hit my top 50. There are some things that define a good worker. One of the most crucial of all of these things is selling, something Shawn is completely incapable of for some reason.
-
The 3-way match hitting 30 would be a disaster. Let Brock and Eddy go 40.
-
One other thing: Benoit-Jericho was 1 million times better than that 10 minute Crash-TV style ladder match at Starrcade. A 10 minute ladder match? What the fuck?
-
Bullshit. AJ-London and Dragon-London were both better than any singles match Shawn has ever had.
-
What was it?
-
This is absurd. Tsuruta-Kawada was just a slight bit less than Tsuruta-Misawa in my opinion, and is definitely one of the best matches of the nineties. The tag being rated higher than it is insane.
-
Get a clue. Honestly.

This show sounds incredibly bad.

Let's just do this year: Every Brock-Angle match: There was no depth to these matches, they didn't play up "learning" spots well at all, there was no psychology, they were slow, and nothing more than suplexfests. The best was Mania, at **3/4 Guerrera-Hart from TNA: The ratings I saw this recieve were just obscene. It was a bunch of flipping around with big moves in lieu of a match. If this is ****+, all those NJ Juniors matches must be 400 stars. ** The TNA Cage match: Just loaded with contrived spots and really sloppy work. The only upside was the blood, and the cool finish too. *3/4 This year's survivor series Raw match. Poor work almost the whole way through this, and way too much sports entertainment. It didn't even get past "meh" until Shawn was the only one left, and a good bladejob with some hot nearfalls doesn't make a match great. **1/2, all for Shawn's performance.

It's not too late OSICON....Gabe can still sign evans for 2/14 to try to get spotfest fans to drive there. There are now a lot more choices for the mystery opponent. I wouldn't want Collyer in the tourney, anyway.
-
Fuck, just do it face vs. face at mania, and turn Angle heel when he realizes he can't win it clean. This thing has major legs if they save the angle heel turn for after mania.
-
While that's true, it will also be TNA's job to build guys up to feed to him down the line. For example, people really wanted to see Goldberg-Page, because the Diamond Cutter had been built up as DEATH all year, and they wanted to see what would happen. For the big 30 dollar PPVs, TNA would have to have some guys be at least competitive. Goldberg-Abyss would be a good one down the line, Goldberg-Northcutt could be, etc. I think people would like to see Goldberg rip through Shane and Douglas, too.

I'm not going to deny XPW was huge...it was, some of my friends here in SoCal even got into it. The wrestling was just so terribly atrocious that I never could.
-
Eddy=Ratings. When's the last time a Brock interview without Vince was the highest rated segment on the show?
-
Angle hasn't gotten a bigger reaction than Eddy in nearly a year. He's a stale main event character, he's a lesser worker, and he's not as good on the mic, as Eddy showed his brilliance in that respect last night. I expect Eddy to win a face vs. face match at mania, and then for Kurt to turn heel, win the belt, and have Eddy do the chase. This feud is going to be awesome, and will probably run through the spring into summer.

You can do a very basic expirement. The dependent variable is house show attendance, and the independent variable is the presence of a wrestler. The biggest house show draws in the WWE (not counting inactives like Austin/Foley) are Goldberg, Eddy Guerrero, and Rey Rey. Someone being a draw doesn't mean they sellout every show--it means the shows do better in attendance when the person is on them. Why are you being so dense? The character assasination is by no means complete--he can recover almost immediately, as seen at SS 2003, before he was buried. It doesn't matter though--the presence, the intensity, and the name are ALL DRAWS. Promise Goldberg in Nashville and they'll have their first ever legit sellout.
-
Goldberg is not a draw...Funny, then why is he on WWE's internal draw list as # 1? Why does his merch do so well? Why do house show sales pick up bigtime when he is added? Do you care about facts? Why am I asking when the answer is obviously no? As Zach said, paying a million dollars a year for him is *nothing* compared to the gates, merch, and buyrates he brings in. That character is salavageable in no time, all he has to do is get on TNA TV, remind everyone that he's 2-0 singles against HHH, 1-0 against The Rock, and name all the huge names he's beaten...and then DEMOLISH his way through TNA....Northcutt, Abyss, all the way to Jarrett. You're wrong if you don't think he's a draw. The numbers tell a different story, and using caps for the word not doesn't change the facts.

This would get an F in third grade. The better all around worker? He is a horrible seller, overbumps all the time, has horrible punches, and throws tantrums in the ring. Benoit's top 20 matches are all better than Shawn's top 5. Let me guess: You haven't seen the Japan run.
