One And Only...12/9/03...yadda yadda yadda
Michrome replied to Corey_Lazarus's topic in TNA Wrestling
Kid Kash was a fine choice, Lynn would have been better, but I guess he needs a paycut because the redshirt security need to be paid to give me drink breaks. Main event was fine, a good match. I'm just disappointed that this show is centered around a guy nobody cares about, while the guy people have started caring about is going to be put in a wire-climbing match. -
Hogan/TNA deal hinging on Hart getting ownership

From what I've read, if they DO get the slot on WGN, they would just air explosion there and keep the wednesday show as their main. I don't see how this would help anything. -

Why waste Sting's last match putting Jarrett over? Styles is a lost cause, so just do Sting vs. Raven, that's a hell of a lot more intriguing than Sting-Jarrett. Sigh. -
Man, who would pay 300 bucks to see the Royal Rumble? Even if they put Benoit vs. Brock on, is that really worth 300 bucks to see live? By the way, the Boston crowd last year was great--the standing ovation was a moment I'll remember for a long time.

Ok, I just rewatched all of BAM 3000, and my opinions changed a lot since I just watched for workrate this time and I turned the volume off. The main thing that changed was my appreciation for Ryan vs. Dragon, which went through the roof. Review probably coming tomorrow.

The PWG Announcing is so fucking hilarious it's beyond BELIEF. So many hilarious non-offensive Jewish jokes (I'm jewish) because they perform at the Westside community Center...omg I laughed the whole time. Here are a few. "this is a very controversial decision...just like letting women vote...nobody wanted it, but it happened" "We have a special guest from the past, another black jew, Sammy Davis Jr." "There was only a small crew, just one Mexican fellow, and I don't think he was Jewish" And this was in the first 2 minutes!

Yes. I didn't want a barbed wire match with Homicide, but I guess I was in the minority. Anyone else cringe seeing a 30 year old making a 60 year old bleed? Isn't that some sort of crime? Honestly, I hate matches like that.

Can Sting vs. Jarrett draw twice? Did it draw once? -

It's so obvious at this point that they are going to have Shane beat everyone leading up to Sabin's big win. Let's just hope the win happens sometime in 2004. -
The ROH mentions in the beginning are for future reviews for readers. I mentioned ROH with the Briscoes because that's where they mainly perform, and same with Styles and Daniels. I said the opener owned ROH spotfests, so people would know how fun it was. A lot of my readers are ROH fans so comparing the matches to ROH ones gives them an idea of quality. As for the main, I don't know, I thought it was too short and some of the spots were way too contrived for my liking. Frankie wasn't really up to the level of AJ and Daniels. Maybe it was because I had just watched 2/23/02 the day before, but it fell flat for me. Anyways, ***1/4 is a good rating.

My Review of PWG: Are You Adequately Prepared To Rock?! Leave feedback/comments if you've seen it, or even if you haven't seen it!
-
Didn't they have some big names? I guess they COULD, but is Panda willing to take the loss?
-
Part of the problem is that I don't think they could get a Sunday slot without Hogan.
-
8/16/03 ROH is real good. Total variety of fun stuff on the undercard and a GREAT main event. Also, PWG 10/4/03 is a great show with an ab-fab Briscoes vs. B-Boy/Super Dragon match.
-
I didn't mean it that way, I should have said, "RoH would be smart to book a rematch." I mean, I gave it ****, so obviously I thought it was excellent. I just think RoH would be smart to book the big rematch now that the Briscoes are their champs.
-
The golf thing busted me up laughing, but as the match went on I started to wish they would acknowledge how damn great the tag was.
-
From what I've heard, it was nothing special.
-
And fans that enjoy the show by analyzing the matches are supposed to do what? Anyways, I liked Rock too, but I hated the debut show and the first night of Badass Mother 3000. The second night was solid, and "rock" was a good show. The "rock" fans were much more tolerable than the first few.
-
The crowd on the first 2 shows was the most obnoxious I've ever seen. They ruined Hook vs. Super Dragon, which was actually a good match when I watched it with sound off.
-
After seeing all the shows they've done so far (except for this last one), I don't think it's that great but it's still fun. I will be going to the next show, but more for Joe and CM Punk than the PWG guys. I thought Ryan vs. Dragon was mediocre, and the three way blew next to the 2/23/02 ROH one. However, I think Briscoes vs. SD/BB was excellent, and in front of an ROH crowd it would have had INSANE heat...as it was, in front of 100 people, it was hard to really feel the heat. The second best match they've had was Chris Daniels vs. Frankie Kazarian. Daniels was a god in this match, just totally carrying Frankie to an excellent match. I want to see 11/15.
-
My only problem with it though is it does take away from the good matches.
-
If that's true, how do you explain the drop under Vince's reign of wrestling's national popularity from being one of America's favorite sports in polls to becoming the least favorite (dog sports don't count).
-
They've been advancing it on every show.

I'm sorry, I misspoke. replace "got 60,000 buys" with "got more than 15,000 buys" Don't know what I was thinking. -
Yes, Vince has really helped. He's helped turn it into a three ring circus and has eliminated the chance of people seeing great wrestling in America on TV anymore. You either have to find a good independent or get Japan to see anything real good these days. You know the guy has really helped when the most talented guys in the country sit and pray every day that they get picked up by Japan because they know that talent need not apply to the WWE.
