MSG tends to like the in-story babyfaces, with the exception of Bill Goldberg. It's Long Island and Nassau that will cut your dick off if you are leaving the company soon, come off like a dork, or facing a badass mega-heel. I predict Cena's reaction will be 50/50, as usual, and I hope the fans chant something cool for Umaga. -
I saw Hot Rod. It was awful.

Raw can hit a serious home run tonight. I have a good feeling about this. BIG POP #1 The Handle-Bar Mustached Messiah Returns to kick King Booker's ass. You may remember that King Booker's "type of people" don't stand a chance against the wielder of the mighty sledgehammer. A Scissors Kick, Book End, Harlem Hangover, or 110th Street Slam will only serve to anger the New-Blood Son of Vince. Expect more burials tonight than after the Civil War. BIG POP #2 The Iron Sheik returns to MSG to unleash hell in a world he never made. Following one of the coolest segments in Howard Stern history, Sheik will hold nothing back to right the wrongs done against him by the likes of The Ultimate Warrior, who he knows from Georgia, B. Brian Blair, and even Hulk Hogan himself. Will Sheik get a TALK SHOW? And discuss Pontiac, Michigan? Humblings? Or will Sheik meet his demise from a certain Killer of Legends... BIG POP #3 Santino's Guido Roots. He's been on a roll, and WHO HATES EVIL ACCENTS MORE THAN MSG?!?!? Marella will likely point out that Paul London is laughing...not about how he & Kendrick have been turned into mid-carders on Heat, but about KILLING PUPPIES AND TEASING BABIES. Santino hilarious fall in the darkness of Jersey Guido Scumbag Heel will continue at Ground Zero for Evil Foreign Gimmicks. BIG POP #4 Umaga Redefined. The Umaga show. Will he lose his edge and fall into dangerous Rikishi territory? Remember, the big 'Kish's workrate, much like Umaga's, was highly touted at one time following a tremendous title bout with HHH on Smackdown. A babyface push could seriously harm Umaga's character. Not to mention a SummerSlam match with heatless Carlito. Will Umaga do something to prove his brick wall offense will remain as he begins to hear the cheers? BIG POP #5 Sandman in New York. Sandman's at MSG, the crowd loves him, Vince seems to like him, so expect shenanigans tonight being that the Carlito feud is thankfully over. Sandman likely isn't winning a match anytime soon...but hey, neither did Orton, and he's about to be the WWE Champion. Sandman, at this time, is owed a WWE Title Match and is the uncrowned General Manager, so expect him to cane someone. -

I'm checking out: JUN070148 ACTION COMICS #854 (CD) $2.99 I don't like Superman. But I respect the character. So I'm giving his books a shot for a few months, just to say I tried. We'll see. All-Star Superman is really good. JUN070155 BOOSTER GOLD #1 $3.50 Give this a try, despite not knowing a lot about the character. JUN070143 COUNTDOWN #37 $2.99 Getting better. JUN070254 FRIDAY THE 13TH PAMELAS TALE #2 (OF 2) (MR) $2.99 First issue was fun for Friday the 13th fanatics. JUN070200 JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #12 (NOTE PRICE) $3.50 This book's not as good as the 90's JLA was when it launched, but it's still good. APR071884 WALKING DEAD #40 (MR) $2.99 Kirkman's plan to get out 18 issues in 12 months might just work. JUN072142 CAPTAIN AMERICA #29 CWI $2.99 Just a fantastic book that's really done wonders for characters like Winter Soldier, Falcon, and Sharon Carter. JUN072130 FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #23 $2.99 This is a bad comic book. But it's only got two more issues. JUN072190 NEW X-MEN #41 $2.99 I don't like this comic all that much, but its got Endangered Species in it. The earlier issues of this series I thought were much better. JUN072177 SUB-MARINER #3 (OF 6) CWI $2.99 This is decent. I don't know that I'd stick with a month, but this mini is okay. JUN072185 SUPER VILLAIN TEAM UP MODOKS 11 #2 (OF 5) $2.99 Haven't read the first one yet. JUN072202 TERROR INC #1 (OF 5) (MR) $3.99 Please be really good. JUN072127 ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #112 $2.99 The post-Bagley era begins with the Goblin. JUN072198 WOLVERINE ORIGINS #16 $3.99 I don't particularly like this book but I don't hate it. I just like Marvel Comics using Dillon's art. -
I'm positive the Phillies are winning the Wild Card or the East this year. A lot of bad things, as usual, have happened to the team, but there's been way too many surprise positive happenings for this to not be the year.

WWE General Discussion for August 2007
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
It was still one of the coolest debuts ever, despite Rock outclassing him on the mic. -
Thoughts on AUGUST 8th Marvel Books: Incredible Hulk (109) kinda sucked for the first time in a while this month. Just so much re-hash and nothing much went down except things we've already seen happen in other WWH books. X-Factor (22) was pretty good, with a surprising anti-hero cameo from Spidey's 1990s past and a killer ending. Daredevil (99) ended a bit flat, I think. It's been rock-solid forever, just not as good as usual (like Hulk). Thoughts on Omega Flight, Ultimate X-Men, Ghost Rider, Nova, Punisher War Journal, New Excalibur, World War Hulk: Frontline, New Avengers, and New Avengers/Transformers forthcoming.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Well at least the smart marks can rejoice that for once, Benoit didn't get buried. -
The Phillies tend to lose important games to the Marlins and Nationals EVERY SINGLE YEAR, so I'm just hoping for 2 outta 3 against the Fish, and 2 outta 3 against Atlanta. A sweep would be nice, but with Moyer and Kyle LOhSE pitching, I dunno. Eaton against the Braves won't be pretty, either.

Okay, so... I've been out of the DC Loop big-time for years. What's must-read now? I used to read: JLA, Young Heroes in Love, Green Lantern, Detectice Comics, Nightwing, Batman Adventures, and most of the DC Crossover Events. I loved GL Kyle Rayner and his GF Jade. I saw that Hal Jordan came back as The Spectre or something and is now the GL. And Kyle is something called Ion. JLA looks sharp now. I'm reading #1-10. So what essential stuff should I get between, say 2000 and 2007? I have "Identity Crisis". Great art, good story, ehh ending. What's the deal with Infinite Crisis, One Year Later, 52, etc.? What's happened with Flash? What major heroes are repackaged, dead, reborn, etc.? Who are, say, the "Top 10" heroes of DC, in terms or importance, good books, and being likeable? What's this Amazons Attack stuff? I realize I can wiki this, but I'd rather here "pass over it", etc. from fans and get a brief summary. I'm looking to start reading: Justice League Justice Society Legion of Superheroes Flash Green Lantern Superman Batman All-Star Batman All-Star Superman Robin Teen Titans So tell me, what's up with those books? All good? Reccomend me some shit. I pretty much read every single Marvel book except the "cosmic" stuff. I read a little Wildstorm (Gen 13, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Stormwatch). I read Walking Dead.

Help Catch Me Up On DC Comics
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in Literature
Thanks for your responses. I have Kingdom Come. I liked it a lot. I currently am reading both JLA and JSA. I started reading Detective Comics this month. I think Grant Morrison is an incredible writer, having loved his stuff with The Invisibles and New X-Men, among other books, so I'm checking Batman out, too. I hear Nightwing is awful (comic boards, comicbookresources) and will pass. I'm also going to pass on Flash. Amazons Attack is a dud, I won't be reading it. I'm going to pick up Villains United, OMAC Project, Rann-Thanagar War, and Infinite Crisis. So INFINITE CRISIS ENDS. And then 52 immediately begins and lasts a year. Are the DC books labeled to say "Hey, right here we jumped a year ahead." ? I'm reading GLC and GL now as well as All-Star Superman. Thanks again, I got my regular DC to read. -

Given that their #2 and #3 babyfaces are on the shelf, the tag division is dead after LonDrick lost to WGTT, and the Women generally suck, Raw came through with: - An actual interesting battle royal. - Creating a new #2 face. - Booking Carlito to his strengths (his gimmick, not his in-ring work) - A "looks to be a disaster, but turns out funny" game show gimmick - Turning Santino well - A somewhat interesting "Whodunnit?" If you think about it, Raw didn't have a lot to work with tonight. Come on, if you didn't pop for "SPAM!", you suck at life. -

Battle Royal. Once Lawler hypes the possibility of Sandman as GM you know he's not taking it. I like Regal as GM. But Sandman as GM would've been much better. Have Sandman win it, drop it to Regal in 2 months. Same old shit on Raw. Fun, unpredictable battle royal, however. Just a dogshit ending. -

I like how they're freshening up the product by doing "Cena on Carlito's Cabana" AGAIN and "Booker Vs. Lawler" AGAIN after last week's epic show...love that brand extension! What a way to build to SummerSlam by featuring 2 guys who won't even be on the show on big roles each week! -
I think Jeff threw a tantrum, upset at his embarassingly blown Whisper in the Wind (during a great stretch for him where he wasn't blowing much if anything) , and was disciplined.

It looks like McMahon will be striking back against the Superstar who blew up the limo, according to the WWE.com Preview. Mr. McMahon arrives, ready to strike back By Zack Zeigler Written: August 6, 2007 BUFFALO, N.Y. – Mr. McMahon will strike back tonight on Raw – and he has arrived at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, N.Y. Those Superstars or fans who believed Mr. McMahon’s return to WWE would come via satellite or through an official statement were shocked when a limousine rolled up to the loading dock of the arena, and the Chairman (with all his body parts intact) nonchalantly walked out. Without uttering a word or offering any type of facial expression, Mr. McMahon’s billion dollar strut made a B-line through the entrance of the arena directly to his office. Earlier today, word was handed down by officials that interviews and photography by WWE.com employees were strictly prohibited prior to Mr. McMahon’s appearance on tonight’s Raw. Many Superstars and employees were too anxiety-ridden to discuss what might take place in Mr. McMahon’s first appearance since that fateful night last June in Wilkes Barre, Pa. when his limousine exploded. Most Superstars spent the day in the locker room area or scattered throughout the stands in the arena hoping to steer clear of any accident run-ins they may encounter with the Chairman. Tune in to Raw, live on USA Network at 9/8 CT to see Mr. McMahon strike back. ______ I bolded the last part just to be a prick, as part of my degree deals with professional writing and how you can publish typos on the main site of a near-billion dollar company astounds me. -
Looking for 2 old WCW Thunder episodes
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to Danville_Wrestling's topic in General Wrestling
This is right around the super badass Crazy Man Flair Vs. Rey Mysterio WCW World Title Match from Club La Vela for the 1999 Nitro Spring Breakout. Anyway, I have the shows. I haven't burned those episodes to DVD yet, but I do have them in WMV format complete, so I'll let you know as soon as they get burned. You COULD always go to PWTorrents, where every wrestling PPV, Nitro, Raw, Smackdown, Hardcore TV, and Thunder is/was there in chronological order. That's where I put my entire DVD collections together from. -

It'd be cool if Vince strikes back against the shitty product by firing the corny angle/joke writing Hollywood Writers, letting his talent have faster-paced matches, ending the shitastic "brand extension", and signing Jericho to a deal. But I guess seeing a "main eventer" in Kennedy is also a solution or something. -

WWE General Discussion for August 2007
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
That's absolutely untrue. WWE shows, especially house shows, are pretty family friendly. Aside from seeing a few girls in revealing outfits (and that's been really toned down as of late) and some high school insults, there's nothing wrong with making your child happy by taking them to see people from TV. Televised WWE events are very, very boring, compiled of: Backstage Talk Segments, Commercial Breaks, and Extended Resthold Sequences during Live Commercial Breaks. Paying for a WWE Televised Event (non-PPV) isn't offensive, it's just dumb. House shows are the way to go. Each match on 8-9 match card gets a lot of time to tell a story. Taking children to see UFC or an R-Rated Movie is far more offensive than WWE. -

You can PUNT a football a lot further than you can punch it or clothesline it with your arm.* Thus, Orton's punt = dangerous. I'd rather get punched in the face or shoved down than someone takes a running kick at my skull. Quit bitching. ________ By the way, what's with Orton fighting with Cena while LAYING ON HIS BACK and swinging like a kitten playing with yarn? Did the fuckhead trip on the ring apron when he was supposed to be distracting Cena? That looked SO bad. How do you BOTCH getting on the ring apron? -
