    This Week in Baseball

The Philadelphia Eagles make moves to acquire great players. They have great ownership. They have a LEADER at the helm. They're also among the 2 best teams in the league. The city loves them. Don't shit on Philly fans just because I, and the rest of them, and hating on the Phillies. Their ownership is NOT changing. Ed Wade isn't going anywhere. The team has NO pitching. NONE. Brett Myers is a decent third-in-rotation pitcher, and they're expecting him to be the ace now. Unbelievable. They did NOTHING at the deadline. They can't win on the road. Their big-contract stars like Thome and Bell are slumping, either due to injury or just not being very good. Of course it takes effort to win a playoff spot. But the Phillies have shown no effort in many, many years. And it's pathetic. I don't listen to Eskin, actually. I find his views too extreme. Similarly to how you probably view me. I've been hitting Phillies games up since 1989. I know the team, and I know when its time to dismantle a big-budget DUD and start over. Now is the time. But if you want to continue to support the overrated "superstar" Bobby Abreu, as he strikes, strikes, strikes, strikes out over-and-over again, go for it. Enjoy the .500 season, with wins at home over sub .500 teams and getting swept by every decent contender.

I said he's been pitching well his last 5 starts, did you miss that? Abreu is hollow numbers. And this year he won't even reach .300. All downhill, sir. Those numbers won't be obtained you mentioned, just as, Abreu, seen as the "Phillies big star", will once again have them at .500 when the year ends.

    SummerSlam Card

SummerSlam's been shitty for 2 straight years. And BTW, the Royal Rumble is by far the "second biggest show of the year". There will be 8 matches. There really haven't been anymore than 7 lately, so 8 is enough. 1. Edge/Matt - I could care less about their internet work. Matt goes over, I'm guessing. Both are incredibly boring. However, I think they'll do something surprising, a few crazy spots, to bring it to a head and look "REAL OMG!" Prediction: ** 1/2 2. Eugene/Angle - Angle goes over via cheating. Will be "eh..." Prediction: ** 1/2 3. Taker/Orton - Orton picks up the win, of course. Won't be as good as Mania, methinks, which itself was decent/good. Prediction: * 1/2 - Shelton/Carlito - I DONT THINK IS HAPPENING...their matches have been awful, anyhow. - Show/Masters - I *do not* think is happening, instead. Sigh. Is it does, Masters wins after applying the Masterlock to Show, who is unconscious, from a chairshot or some such dastardly act. 4. Eddie/Rey - Eddie must go over and keep the kid, further extending the feud that won't die. Who knows, maybe they'll actually have...GASP...a good PPV match for once. Prediction: ** to *** 5. Orlando/Benoit/Christian/BookerT - This will happen, its Smackdown's 4th match. Who cares? Smackdown had a 4-way two years ago for the US Title, with far superior workers (Tajiri, Benoit, Eddie, and Rhyno), and it still was mediocre and rushed, with no heat. Prediction: ** 6. Cena Vs. Jericho - The way it is booked, Jericho should be winning the title. Knowing WWE, Cena wins in 8 minutes. I think Jericho wins the belt, however. So he won't. This "Jericho is leaving to tour for 6 weeks" stuff may or may not be true. Match will be decent-good, Jericho on offense entire time, since Cena is still horrible. Prediction: *** 7. Batista Vs. JBL. Batista wins. End of story. Although last year saw Mr. Home Country drop the World Title...hmmm.... Prediction: ** 8. Hogan Vs. Michaels - Don't know if HHH is running in. Don't know if Lesnar is running in. Don't know if Jannetty is running in. Don't really care. Whoever wins, we lose, as the product won't be made better. Michaels needs to go over and work heel against Cena, with Michaels winning the title at Unforgiven. Given this, Michaels will job, and then get the title. Prediction: This will be Rock/Hogan II No Way Out 2003 bad. * _____________ Prediction: SummerSlam won't be awful. It just won't be good. Like every year since 2002. I learned my lesson in 2003 and 2004. If shitty main event workers and Divas polute the PPV, don't buy it. DESPITE its "prestigious big show reputation", WWE doesn't CARE ABOUT IT.

    Booker T

IMO, Booker T has not been "great" since late 97-early 98. Once he came back from major knee surgery, he was slower and never the same. Once WCW was purchased, he was always "decent" to "horrible" (depending on who he was working) in WWE.

You won't like this. That Luger/Hogan match from Road Wild 1997 they're offering? It's already been offered, and his been in their library for months now. Could this be a sign...

    August Jukebox match listing

This month's Jukebox also gives JR's best commentary in YEARS, during the Randy Orton/Chris Benoit "SummerSlam" title match. I remember my friends and I ordered the show, all hardcore Orton marks because of his awesomeness at Backlash (Cactus), WrestleMania (Rock/Foley), and such. But we didn't think Orton would get the title *just* yet... From the match: "...the best in the business have tapped out to the Crippler Crossface...this is how Benoit won the World Title at WrestleMania! Benoit, like a pit bull dog, holding on...but Orton, I...perspiration? Or a counter? In any event, Orton slipped out of the Crossface..." "he rolled through it, the second time, and...OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (as loud as JR can scream" "RKO OUTTA NOWHERE!!!!" Check it out and hear JR mark out.

Hey guys, grab that Dragon/Mysterio match...Dragon, instead of the open area on the mask, has these badass Dragon Teeth sewn on. Kinda like "Venom" from Spider-Man. So much cooler looking, although that's nitpicking about an amazing wrestler.

Why WWE Should Buy the NWA

I think this is an absolutely idiotic idea. Casual fans don't remember the NWA or even know it exists. This isn't 1997-98 when wrestling was popular. NO ONE CARES. Casual fans don't know what OVW is. So right there, you're going to spend MONEY to purchase a worthless company like the National Wrestling Alliance when you already own a farm league which you could promote under a different name? "Buy the NWA?" My DVD collection is worth more.

    This Week in Baseball

Chong, Padilla has been pitching pretty great his past 5 starts. Bobby Abreu is the one you shouldn't be letting play well. He sucks. He's a fraud. Look at him at his hollow numbers. Since July 5th, HE IS BATTING 0.200. HOME RUNS? Nope. Caught stealing when he does get on. The guy is all hype and hollow numbers, and beginning this season the idiots that support him are starting to notice it. 0.200 All Star in the month of July-August, what a Joke. Padilla, on the other hand, going into the game against Clemens (Phils-Astros), had a 1.40 ERA in his last 3 games. He's getting better. But of course tonight, he is amazing and the Phillies score ***ZERO*** runs *AT HOME* against, IMO, a very mediocre Cubs team. When a reliever walks FOUR STRAIGHT GUYS with one out...with a rabid crowd...in the 9th...at home...and all you can manage is ONE RUN (that they gave to you), that's absolutely pathetic.

Chong, Dempter was complete garbage tonight. After his four walks, he faced THE MIGHTY DAVID BELL & COLOSSUS OF THOMAS PEREZ. Both are what we describe as "easy outs". But of course the Phillies didn't need to make any moves.

A wrestler with a 5-18 record wins a title. A wrestler with a 5-22 record main events. And why do y'all start topics on "Why WWE sucks?" So much for London, his credibility is now shot. "That jobber beat me! Protest!" I hope Christian/Rey is all kinds of good, still.
