Interesting...these two results come on back-to-back days. *** WCW Monday Nitro 01-20-97, The United Center, Chicago, Illinois 8. Masahiro Chono defeated David Taylor via submission with the STF. - Taylor "tapped out". *** Clash of the Champions XXXIV 01-21-97, Wisconsin Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1. Dean Malenko defeated WCW Cruiserweight Champion Ultimo Dragon (with Sonny Onoo) to win the title via submission with The Texas Cloverleaf, despite Onoo's distraction. - Dragon "tapped out". Note that it was WCW, not the WWF, who brought the popular UFC-style "tap out" to television. Also... *** WCW Monday Nitro 01-27-97, Veterans Memorial Auditoriom, Des Moines, Iowa 10. Hugh Morrus pinned Chris Benoit after the "No Laughing Matter" moonsault when Benoit was taken down by a Kevin Sullivan chairshot. - The referee was distracted by a woman (Miss Jackie, making her WCW debut) jumping the rail to attack Woman. - After the match, Gene Okerlund interviewed Kevin Sullivan and Jimmy Hart, who revealed the woman (Miss Jackie) was who Sullivan chose Woman over 10 years ago. Miss Jackie verbally attacked Woman and Debra McMichael. The WWF did this "girl on girl" out of the crowd attack pretty close to this one, with Chyna attacking Marlena, right? Just two ideas they grabbed from Nitro during the "War".

Has there ever been a 5 star match?

MX Vs. Zenk & Pillman is just unbelievable. The Midnights just win because they can and pull out every stop possible. Awesome, awesome stuff and wish I had a copy on hand. -

Foley/Taker is a ***** match. Going into the bout, it was expected to be a "Stinker" due to Taker's ankle injury and Foley not exactly having "classics" with him before. The match is perfectly executed. The "sick bumps" are done in a way to put over both men. The moves in the ring are done to put over both men. The crowd loved it. The announcers were perfect. The drama was real. I wonder if half the people who say "it's not *****! it's bumps and brawling!" have even seen it for it what it truly was. It made the stale Undertaker into a believable non-caring killer. It made Foley into a "you can't stop him! he loves pain!" hero that eventually became a top face. It also gave us stuff we've never seen before. "At the time the bumps were sick!" At the time, Steamboat/Savage and Steamboat/Flair were "classics". Nowadays, I find Savage/Steamboat to be average. Hell in the Cell II: The Best. -
Congratulations to KARL MALONE AND GARY PAYTON... ... for continuing to prove that although they'll go down as great players... ... they each have ONE LESS RING than Darko.

Good, good match! Soiled by fucking worthless, skinny CM Punk in the ring and causing the ending. Yay. Odd choice for an On Demand match.

Uh, how does one join?

Wow, that looked like shit. -
Shelton's "mic skills" are pathetic. He's a really good mid-card wrestler, however. He'll never beat Orton for the title, though. See Raw's faith in him by keeping him OFF OF RAW not only the day after Bad Blood but the week after his "feud" with Orton started.

I'd like to guarantee that Triple H will not win on Monday. And I'm not a rapist nor idiot like Kobe Bryant, so I'd like to think my guarantee is made with intelligent merit.

Kane impregnates Lita...

I can't get the fucking "Happy Days" theme out of my head, complete with the image of Vince and Gerwitz jumping around, rolling in piles of money like Scrooge McDuck. Thanks a lot! -

Okay, assuming the storyline goes as planned and leads to the 2005 Royal Rumble match being dedicated to everyone and every...*thing* associated with this storyline, who wins? I don't know, but I think Kane and Matt should get to pick between #s 21-30, ala Hogan and Taker at the 92 Rumble, since they're the focus. Lita draws #1. Stacy Kiebler #2. Shane McMahon #3. Jeff Hardy #4. Baby fetus #5 cleans house... -
What's the most entertaining match of all

redbaron, HHH a "never was" ? I'm sure his DVD and T-Shirt sales have done extremely well, as did his title reign for the ratings on both television and PPV in 2000. he's an 8-time world champion. Plus he's made appearence on multiple national television shows. He also makes his film debut this year. Don't hate the player or The Game. Unless you mean THE WARRIOR is the "never was". Then I agree. -

The Buzz, at least Sting didn't really put those fucking Dark Carnival idiots truly over. He squashed Demon in a minute. He destroyed Old Muta and Sloppy Vamp easily. He no-sold a lot, too. One of the few times I enjoyed a wrestler purposely no-selling when it wasn't a part of their gimmick. -

Dean Malenko/Chris Jericho

From Bash at the Beach '98: Chris Jericho comes out in a top hat with a cane, and will "do a dance for you instead of wrestling". WCW Comissioner J.J. Dillon announces he has a challenger for Jericho's Cruiserweight Title. "This indy wrestler hasn't been in action for six months!" Jericho: "Bring this jobber on!" :::Rey Mysterio comes out, to a hometown pop::: -
Real F'n Show, Check NO WAY OUT 2000 for the epic Mark Henry Vs. Viscera match. For May Young's dignity and baby!

Wow, with the stitching, and red/black shadows and all, that so could be Kane's old mask. -
This pay per appearence deal could mark the first time since the "invasion" for the oppurtunity... Chavo shows up on Impact! and throws the Cruiserweight Title in the trash.

Y2Jerk is quite right. Trips becomes #1 Contender by defeating Eugene. So he won't. Orton will.
-
Take a look at my website under "1995" and "2000" for some nominees.
-
Sabu Vs. Tyson Tomko Vs. Jackie Gayda in a "10 Blown Spots the Hard Way" match (First to Blow 10 Spots loses).
-
Bischoff said: "Well, there's someone else that could be the #1 Contender...you see...he's undefeated, too...it's..my nephew."
-
Well if it goes to a no-contest then Eugene doesn't deserve a #1 Contender shot.
