The Titans then went on to come up a yard short in the SB, and the Jets and Dolphins were again on the road. The only one I can really fault him for would be the Titans one since they were home, but they obvioulsy were no slouch.

Rotoworld notes: If the Devil Rays can turn Julio Lugo into Andy Marte, I will love them forever for getting Marte out of the division. With how overrated Soriano is, I would have to figure they could get more than a relief prospect for him.

I think Eli is overrated in the sense that many people act like he is already a top QB. I don't doubt that he is going to be great, but right now he still struggles plenty. As for Peyton, I think the "can't win the big one stuff" is overblown. Let's not forget that the big games he has lost have all come to a dynasty caliber team. Maybe we should give those guys a little more credit for winning as opposed to giving Peyton blame for losing. And at this point I don't know if I can stand to watch the rest of the Eagles games. Time for the Detmer-Moats-GLew era.

::grumbles something about Mik still seeing two more titles than I have in my life:: If the Phils got Cabrera would you cave into becoming a Phils fan?
-
Do you think they let Joe Girardi know this was going to happen before he took the job or did they completely fuck him over? At this point he might as well start saying "startin to come together Pepper."

If the article from Newsday is accurate (highly doubtful, but for the sake of arguement let's assume) link I would give up: the Phils entire farm, my mother, my DVD collection and their entire next year's draft for Miguel Cabrera.

I don't think the deal is bad itself, but combined with the Ryan deal, I think it is a little much. Being committed to both Ryan and Burnett for the next 5 years at a combined $21 mil/year will really hamstring them if either of them get injured/underperform. I just question giving out two high money, long term deals in the same offseason. Finally there is an Abreu rumor that isn't vomit inducing. Prior for Abreu?

Atlanta is the team I would fear the most if I was the home team. I am certainly not Vick's biggest fan, but he is the most capable of stealing a single game from a better team.
-
Depends on what you are looking for though. Do I think they are SB contenders? No. But I think right now they get out of the NFC. I don't see any NFC team beating Indy. BTW, Indy clinches the conference with a win this week and a Denver loss (Baltimore at Denver).
-
I know this seems oversimplified, but I don't see any of the NFC teams being good enough to win a playoff game on the road. So right now that would be Chicago going to Seattle in the title game. Chicago's D is great, but it would only take 13 points to beat them as I don't see Orton going on the road, in a title game and playing mistake free.
-
Why was that? Sure they were very dull to watch as a fan other than McNabb (when he actually...GASP...ran), but odd that they would be someone another team's fan would hate since they didn't have a real attitude/swagger or the few years of blowjobs they have had lately.
-
I find it hard to care enough to hate the non-division rivals. Sure I hate the Favre is god treatment, but not to the point where I hate the Packers. I hate the fact I constantly get Jets games, because apparantly living in South Jersey means I would be a Jets fan. But other than that I only hate the division teams, since there is no reason to hate any others.
-
I find myself rooting for Seattle to put up a 70 spot just because the Eagles deserve to get embarrassed tonight.
-
You can tell they are desperate for filler when they've shown the Holmgren tree for about the third time tonight.
-
If I send a quick email to an ABC affiliate, do you think they would be willing to show the White ceremony instead of the 2nd half?
-
Utley better get some love and be the starting 2B for USA. Will they need more than 6-8 pitchers? You'll only need 3 starters and I can't imagine them using the All-Star style everyone pitches an inning format so they should only need 3-4 relievers.
-
Please just kill me now. If this wasn't Reggie White's night, I bet the stadium would be 90% empty already.

If you like the old shows at all, the last thing you want is for it to get the Aeon Flux treatment. The movie flat out sucked. I am not one for the "what the hell? used a different gun in the show" type complaining, but it should have at least had the same style, energy, and basic character traits. This movie was more along the lines of some exec saying, "Hey, we have a shitty sci-fi action movie, lets paste the Aeon Flux characters and places names on it and see if that gets us some business."

Your updated Marlins scorecard: Going: Beckett Lowell Mota Delgado LoDuca Castillo Pierre Coming: Hanley Ramirez Anibal Sanchez Jesus Delgado Harvey Garcia Gaby Hernandez Yusmeiro Petit Mike Jacobs Grant Psomas Travis Bowyer Scott Tyler Sergio Mitre Renyel Pinto Ricky Nolasco Dante Brinkley I don't think I forgot anyone, but it's possible. Plus they still have Pierre and Villone still reportedly on the move. And I would think they have to offer arb. to Burnett since they know he will get signed, bringing in 2 first rounders. Is it safe to say they now have the best farm in baseball?
-
But they are getting expensive, big names; therefore they have a commitment to winning. I thought Mik was nuts suggesting that LoDuca being in the previous deal might have got them Milledge, but seeing them throw away their number 3 prospect, maybe he was on the right track.
-
Unless he is asking for a ridiculous amount, I am kind of surprised they didn't put that money toward resigning Millwood. That doesn't seem like too bad of a deal for the Indians. The market for Byrd's level of pitcher is in the $6-7 mil/yr. range (since his return from injury his ERA is around 3.85). It's not like the Mets and Blue Jays, who blew up the closer market.
-
I'm sure they could have essentially bought a selection from the Orange Bowl.
-
Poor Penn State. They have a comeback year, ranked number 3, first BCS game and it turns out they are in a dud against FSU. Why couldn't they make PSU/ND happen by throwing some cash around?
-
I would do Burrell for Bradley straight up. At worst there would be a minor production decrease, while saving $5-6 million.
