  1. I am pretty sure that on one of the shows (can remember if it was local or national) it was mentioned that there is a deadline that you have to "suspend" someone by. If you sit someone after that you can only deactivate them and since the decision did not come down until yesterday they had to go with deactivating.
  2. According to a report on the local pregame show, it was actually the players who decided to dump TO. They decided during a players meeting and then went to Reid and said to get rid of him. I can't see any way he comes back after it was the players who dumped him.
  3. I think you underestimate TO. While Douglas was a DE, remember he a.) was an undersized DE and b.) retired due to injuries. Combine that with the fact that TO is a pretty big SOB and is legitimately crazy (Steve Young was right, that if you knew a TO in real life you would get him on some meds) , I would probably bet on TO in a fight between them. I hope they Keyshawn him just so it will be fun to be a fan again. I hate having to root for that asshole.
  4. The Eagles are far and away the pass happiest team of all time. Ray Didinger (HOF writer and works at NFL Films) looked into it and, IIRC, he could not recall any team approaching 70% pass:run ratio, while the Eagles are approaching 80%.
  5. They can't trade him since the deadline has passed. And they won't be able to trade him in the offseason, because everyone knows they are just going to cut him.
  6. On his radio show, TO said that Dawkins confronted him about the comments, but when TO showed him the transcript and told him the comments were taken out of context Dawkins was cool with him ("Dawk's got my back.") I pray to ever loving god that this is not the case. Where in his comments is it taken out of context that he calls the Eagles classless? He says Favre is considered a warrior, plays through injuries, knowledgable about the QB position, which would put them in a better situation. How is that not indirectly saying McNabb does not have those things since they are in the bad situation? If Dawkins is buying this shit, the team really is lost.
  7. I can see, if you use the gopher balls in the arm strength arguement, why you would say that he has a weak arm then. I just always attributed that to no touch and shitty accuraccy, but if you put it in the other column then I would not argue with you there.
  8. Actually, IMO, it isn't McNabb's arm strength that is the problem. He just has a problem throwing the deep ball. He can put it up, but rarely is the ball not 3-5 yards ahead of the receiver. He also has a problem putting touch on the ball for shorter passes. He had started to correct the problem over the last year before regressing a little lately, but before then everything was a laser. And again, before judging what he was before Owens got to town, remeber who he used to throw to.
  9. Well Reid just had a press conference. When he was asked about suspending TO he said "we'll have to see how it goes." TO followed with a written statement that he read in about 10 seconds along the lines of "Apparently I have made some comments that the organization felt were derogatory. If I offended them I apologize." Then left the PC. My guess is he is going to get Keyshawned.
  10. Isn't Irvin the one a few weeks ago, who was mocking every other sportscaster for slobbing Favre's knob? And Fuck TO for the 100th TD bullshit. Considering any time he scores a TD he either ignores or moves any teammates out of the way that come to celebrate with him, so he can do his thing (notice they don't even bother to go into the endzone with him anymore). You shun the team, don't be shocked when the team shuns you. Cut his ass this offseason and pick up Reggie Wayne.

    Gold Gloves

I feel bad for Bobby winning that award. It was already happening on DNL (local sports talk show) that they couldn't mention Abreu's name without throwing Gold Glover in a mocking tone in front of his name, despite the fact the discussion had nothing to do with his fielding. Any play he botches this season is going to get killed.
  12. How is Ruiz defensively? Capable enough for the job or do they need to bring in someone and hold Ruiz off until 07? I would love to see that for a couple reason. First and foremost, doing that would show a legitimate organizational change in mindset. I think it is pretty apparent that to this point he has been viewed as a tweener and probably not capable of handling the job full time. If he got the job it would show someone who can look at the players with a different eye. Also, put his OBP in the leadoff or two slot and watch Utley/Howard/Abreu/Burrell drive him in 125 times. Finally, he would get thrown out of about 40 games for arguing balls and strikes if he were to play full time, which is always fun. Or, if they lose a 1st rounder in FA, actually go out on a limb and spend some money out of slot position. Take the money you would have paid a 1st rounder and pick up a couple players that fall for salary reasons. A 1st round pick should try and be replaced instead of throwing up your hands and saying "oh well, that pick is gone"
  13. I am just praying that Gillick did not get the job by just going into the interview and telling them "oh, everything is great. this team is just fine and will only need a move here or there to be contenders." While there is talent on the team, there are plenty of issues that need to be addressed this offseason. - The obvious issues in Thome/Howard and Bell (615 PAs netted a nice 0.3 VORP on the year) at 3B. I don't see them doing anything about Lieberthal. - Centerfield. They need to decide if it is Victorino's job, platoon again, or bring someone in. - The bullpen needs to be rebuilt. The chances of getting Wagner back probably took a hit, with Hunsicker not getting the job (especially if Hunsicker ends up in Boston). I think we can forget about Ugueth Vorhees coming back. I don't trust Cormier as far as I could throw him and I have some concerns about Madson's arm or if he'll be moved to the rotation (doubtful, but still something that has to be accounted for). - A gutted farm system that needs to be rebuilt from scratch. Granted minor league records don't necessarily relate to quality of prospects, but being last place with every affiliate IIRC is not a good sign. - Oh, and they need to trade Abreu while his value is highest. ::runs from Al:: (please note that was a joke. Granted if someone were to offer a blow away deal it should be considered, but it isn't something to actively pursue)

    NBA Week 1

I have a feeling that Philly/Detroit is going to be embarrasing. With Dalembert out, it is going to be Steven Hunter and Chris Webber vs. the Wallaces. Prince will eliminate Korver like he did in the playoffs. Iverson is going to need a 40-50 point night to even keep it competitive.

    NFL Week 8

The pick killed the momentum, there was just no excuse for that throw. The rain just hurt afterward.

    NFL Week 8

Garbage Philly is still 4-2 and in a tie for the division lead. Not sure how they have NO shot at the playoffs. But as I said earlier playoffs are worthless. They currently aren't title contenders.

    NFL Week 8

I don't mind him not getting the surgery before. Either way the decision was going to look bad at some point. But it has become apparent that there are too big of problems to continue. This team may limp into the playoffs, but they are not a title team right now so what is really the point. PLayoffs are worthless. Here is a link to an Eagles MB some of you might enjoy reading right now. Eagles MB

    NFL Week 8

I feel bad for the defense. It is bad enough playing a solid offense, but when your own offense can't give you more than a 3 play break you're a sitting duck. Granted they aren't playing great themselves, but they are getting no help. And McNabb just flat out sucks right now. He is back to throwing at gophers instead of to receivers. A big part of it lately has been the coaching, though. The last few games they have taken no shots downfield. Combine that with the lack of running plays and the defense can just line up everyone right at the line of scrimmage and go after them. If McNabb's injury is what is preventing them from going downfield, it is time to put McMahon in because they will not win this way.
  21. Here you can find a few articles (well one big article broken into pieces) about how Shapiro/Antonetti do business. http://www.cleveland.com/gameplan/ He certainly would bring a different approach to this organization. I don't see any way of them hiring him. After all of the stuff that has gone on they will likely have to bring in a "name" (read: Gillick or Hunsicker). If they had the brass ones to go out on a limb for someone like Antonetti, they would have probably just hired Amaro and taken the heat then. I would love to see him come into the interview and put on an Andy Reid type of performance with the binders and incredily detailed plan and just blowing everyone away. But even then I think the forces are against him. Something that makes me laugh, reading different quotes, is Dallas Green's mentality about the "new breed" of GMs. I can't remember exactly where, but I saw one quote where he mentions that the new young breed of GMs are basically the yes men that their superiors are looking for. Now correct me if I am wrong but don't the young GMs/GM candidates typically get blasted for being anything but yes men for the older higher level officers (i.e. chemistry is overrated, SBs are overrated, BA is overrated, don't spend millions on "veteran presence")?
  22. THURSDAY Virginia Tech FRIDAY Colorado State SATURDAY Georgia Tech Ohio State Nebraska Cincinnati Missouri Central Florida BYU Florida Northwestern Mississippi State Marshall Tiebreak #1: How many total points will be scored in the Boston College/Virginia Tech game? 52 Tiebreak #2: How many yards rushing will Northwestern's Tyrell Sutton have against Michigan? 95
  23. What do you mean? They already have a GM in place. From a Daily News article in regards to Wagner (sidenote on Wagner: remember when The White Sox were reportedly willing to do anything to get him for a WS run. I bet they are glad they did not give up a Brandon McCarthy now) telling the Phils he will test the FA waters Ruben is on the case. The same article also mentions Pat Gillick and Jim Bowden as being names thrown around now.

    NFL Week 8

I wouldn't be too concerned about the Cortez signing, infact it may be a very good thing. The panel on DNL made a great point, in that they would not release France based on FG kicking (he has done a terrific job there and should have a job ASAP if GMs know what they are doing). The reason you would release France is because his kickoffs don't get anywhere near the goal line. So you would not release him and sign a bigger leg unless your All Pro kicker was ready for place kicking duties (with Cortez to handle kickoffs). And the reports that Akers may be back this week play into that idea.
  25. Salim Stoudamire, G, Atlanta BTW, I made a name change to JackVanImpe Presents So I guess that makes it: C - Shaquille O'Neal F - Andrei Kirilenko F - Kyle Korver G - Josh Smith G - Rafer Alston Util - P.J. Brown Bench: Sarunas Jasikevicius Eddie Griffin Salim Stoudamire
