Okay, to begin with, how is this, as the Bloc put it, a racist comment? Last I checked, the race of said French players was Caucasian. And secondly what is wrong with this? I mean, for the most part its true. Is French guys a new slur? People are playing it up like he called them frogs or something. Next time I suppose Cherry should just refer to them as French-Canadians or Francophones.

Randy Couture... still going strong at 40. Lenox Lewis... taking the low road out at 38. One of many reasons why MMA is greater than boxing.

Yeah, okay. Hey, I'm among the few hockey fans on this board, and even I have to admit that a top running back gets hit more in a game than an NHL player does. Let's say Clarett averages 25 rushes a game (which would not be surprising). And maybe he scores 1 or even 2 touchdowns a game. That still leaves 23 carries carries where he's getting hit by at least one person, perhaps multiple people, at a time. And that doesn't include times that he gets hit when it's a play action pass, or when he's blocking. I can't think of too many NHL players that get hit 20+ times in one game. If you want to get all picky, they wear less pads in the NHL. But notice I didn't mention anything about their protection, I only mentioned the quantity of hitting. If I didn't think that the "smilies" were so lame, I'd throw the eye rolls right back at you and your doublepost. I definetly agree with you on the running back front (of which Clarett is) due to players at that position taking such a pounding just through repetition. But as a whole, I would still disagree with you.

EDIT: I just hit you mofo's with a double post.

Yeah, okay.

As well, topics keep getting bumped due to all the Indy content and questions keep constantly coming up (Best DVD's etc.) Maybe these topics would be easier to find for new posters in just an MMA folder. Also, we could have a Pinned MMA FAQ and stuff since a lot of the posters are just getting into it and probably have some similar questions.

I paid kudos in the UFC thread in MMA/Indy's but I'll say it again, good job Triple R. And while were at it, I think now would be a good time to try to give MMA it's own folder again. (just try it!) I know it had one before and lacked interest but I think it has a much stronger following, would be well supported, and deserves a shot. I just hate having to sift through the Indy crap and having its own folder may generate more topics in MMA (as people visiting would know they are getting MMA content). Try it out! How 'bout it Dames?

By the way, good job on the two articles RRR. Keep 'em coming (at least for the bigger shows). -

I think another factor is that UFC doesn't have the star power to hold non-title fights like Pride does. Title fights (especially in N.A.) are often deemed alot more important. Pride doesn't always need their champion defending his title because of the strength of the rest of the card (in Nog's case where he fought a lot of non-title fights, they would have Silva, Sakuraba, etc. fighting). The lack of big UFC names doesn't enable them to do this. So if they are building a card around this match, then people more or less want it to be a title match. And yes, last night you could argue that Penn-Hughes was big enough, but essentially the card was sold on Belfort-Couture and I think the general public, in laying down money for a match, would want it to be a title fight. As well, it gives the UFC the opportunity for the 5 round fight that they love to put on for big fights (which I think was partially the reason for the Liddell-Couture interim situation) I'm still wondering if they will find an excuse to make Ortiz-Liddell a 5 rounder. As for last's nights card, gotta agree that it was dissapointing. The last fight of the night often leaves a lasting image of an entire card and that fight last night just left me feeling empty. Although seeing Penn make Hughes tap was worth it. (not that I like/dislike either one) -
Degrassi The Next Generation
Brush with Greatness replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
Too much drama compared to the original Degrassi Jr. High? Spike was preggie at like 13. There was also the whole, Ms. Avery is a lesbian shit and all that stuff. Admittedly, it didn't get real good until Senior with Clutch and the gang, all the Wheels shit (man was his life fucked up) and Scott beating Kathleen (which was directly lifted with Terri, up to and including Kathleen being in the drama) although Scott-Kathleen had a much bigger build. However, this show has way hotter chicks. Looking back, there was a very select crew of decent looking girls on the original Degrassi. Caitlyn, Tessa, Stephanie Kay, Spike, Lucy - all these chicks are borderline decent at best. Oh yeah, the new episodes have started I believe and guess what, someone is pregnant (unless this is old news) Don't look down if you dont want to know. Spoiler tags suck, unless I'm doing it wrong. [spoilers]Manny is having Craig's baby according to the home pregnancy test. she just has to check with the doctor (it was to be continued)[/spoilers] -
In regards to the Salary Cap, IF there is one, I'm sure the teams will be given a few years in getting their salaries down. A grace period so to speak.

UFC 46: Super Natural

Yeah, that was officially announced awhile back as I recall. I don't think a poster for it makes it anymore official. If that is what the "Ahem" was referring to. -
Umm, Amazon has the release date as April 4, 2004. You make it seem as if they have no plans to ever release it.
-
Is that the Criterion Life of Brian or is that actually an affordable version now?
-
Yeah, I don't really understand how you catch most of the people doing it. Well, rather actually, how you know that you catch most of the people doing it. Are there a very few amount of people that you are aware of that are doing it but you just can't catch them? How do you know there is not a shitload of people doing it that you don't know about? I mean, if you knew about them wouldn't you then catch them?

Wow, both Al Pacino and Christopher Walken were in Gigli? Damn, I should check it out. (just to see how a movie with both Walken and Pacino could be bad)

So is there some boycott of not nominating Foreign Language Films for Best Picture. I mean, Y Tu Mama Tambien and City of God were two of the best movies in their respective years yet no Best Picture nomination. Also, good for Capturing the Friedmans. I'm probably one of a very few amount of people here to have seen any of those documentaries (actually, that's the only one) and I hope it wins. After Hoop Dreams, the Academy has really smartened their asses up and given the Documentary to some great films [see: When We Were Kings, One Day in September (not about 9/11 ironically enough)]

No, no. What I'm saying is that Natalie is probably a real person. I don't think those first few posts were a prelude to the story (or even part of the story) but rather someone seeking legit help in the relationship department. I would bet the first few pages of posts and truth. EDIT: Nevermind. I said what you said.

Now, as a Canadian, would it be illegal to steal the American satellite signals? Are the feds going to come up to Canada to bust someone or what? And on that catching most people Mr. Rant, nobody I know who pirates cable in Canada has been caught.
-
He doesn't even mention Thirteen in there. Although props for mentioning Capturing the Friedmans. Anyone who likes documentaries should check it out. It just keeps getting more and more fucked up. Sad really.
-
The sad part is, I think this story actually started out true. The fact of the matter is that either rawmvp got rejected by Natalie on the intial offer, or in more liklihood, never had the balls to ask her out and instead developed this farce, rather than face ridicule from TSM for being a coward.

Courtesy www.slam.ca Now what the fuck is this? NFL stars invade reality TV. CBS could use a guy from each team and cast them in Survivor. NBC could take the ugliest offensive lineman and have them on Average Joe, before bringing in QB's and running backs for the swerve~. Fox could... well, there Fox, I'm sure they could come up with some stupid concept on their own.

Just saw it. Totally agree with Downhome's sentiments. Acting performances were solid, highlighted by Theron. The actual story itself I thought was interesting (being it based on a true story and all), but there was something missing that made it just pretty good. Of course, the easy comparison is Boys Don't Cry for obvious reasons, although I thought Boys Don't Cry was slightly better. Haven't seen BDC for awhile though so I may be wrong. I've seen 3 movies in the last week and this would probably rank third. That's not an insult though, as Big Fish and In America were the other two. Out of those two, I would probably say In America was the slightly better one. Big Fish to me was somewhat special (altough it felt very much like a fabled version of Forrest Gump) while In America was great. Next on the list to see is 21 Grams, which I have high expectations for and should top all three of these. Penn and Del Toro, can't go wrong. I love January, when all of the December movies which got limited releases get the mainstream pushes.

You could start by saying: Philly with Primeau: One of the better teams in the NHL Philly with out Primeau: Shit Despite only having 15 points Primeau is the Flyers MVP and I'm sure the guys on the team would say the same thing. So team MVP of the 5th best team in the NHL. Hmmm, seems good enough for me to make the allstar game. And, can nobody find a god damn picture of that Lindros - Thornton fight? I thought you people called yourselves fans.

Yes, yes you are.
