Back to the original topic: When arguing that this game is racist I wonder if any of you actually took the time to look at some of the screen shots of the game or just buy into everything the media tells you. Some of the properties that you can buy include "Trailer Trash Court" with white people representing it, "Weinstein's Gold and Platinum", a white Jewish jeweler, "Ling Ling's Massage Parlour", oriental, and "Chico's Bodega", a Mexican joint. So I ask, where is the racism again? It's a fucking parody of the ghetto people! Is it stereotypical? Yes. But it pokes fun at all stereotypes. Also, to those of you who are so pissed off about such a racist game... Have any of you seen the movie "Don't Be A Menace (to South Central while drinking your juice in the 'hood)"? Because I would like to know your thoughts on that movie.

Ghettopoly Has anyone actually played Ghettopoly or own it? Me and my friends play Monopoly the odd time but would probably play more if it had the cool Ghetto tie in. And for those of you who haven't heard of it, it is a Monopoly type game that has been getting a lot of flak for appently being racist.

Kurt and Courtney would have been a hell of a lot better had they actually been able to license Nirvana tracks. And whatever happened with all of that? Who owns the rights now, Noveselic/Grohl or Love? Never saw, Biggie/Tupac or Resurrection. But one movie worth checking out is a documentary on Death Row Records called "Welcome to Death Row". Awesome documentary that chronicles the very entertaining history of the company.

Courtesy da Meltz: Right now, I'm going on the record as officially predicting an upset victory by the Phenom. It seems like he has his confidence back. On the other hand he could get totally owned by the master to the point where someone with his psyche will never recover. What I want to see is Couture and White challenge the winner of the GP at Sunday's show. That would be great. And Dammit. I will be forced to miss Sunday's show (live that is, but possibly altogether). My buddy who gets the PPV's is going hunting for a week. He will try to tape it and we may watch it when he gets back. (crosses fingers)

Are you talking finished product? Because NBK's blows all kinds of ass. Perhaps the worst movie. However, if you are talking purely based on Tarantino's original unbutchered script then NBK could be a possibility. However, I think whether you are talking finished product or original script, True Romance wins this category easy. Romance is an incredible movie. NBK is not even a smidgen as good.

Seeing as how it's on ESPN I believe (or TSN in Canada) I figure this could go under sports. Anyways, wanna know what everyone thinks of it. This is the first year I've caught it and I think it's just awesome. Entertaining television.

Okay, I don't regularly watch Degrassi: The Next Generation, but I caught it Wednesday and what to my wondering eyes should appear but fuckin Wheels. That's right. Derek Wheeler. Anyone else watch Degrassi: TNG and know if Wheels has been on before? Or anyone else just have good old school Degrassi memories?

Wheels on Degrassi: TNG
Brush with Greatness replied to Brush with Greatness's topic in Television & Film
Hey, I'm with you the Czech Republic. Thought she was hotter when she wasn't dressed like a slut. Anyways, wasn't it Stephanie Kaye that went on the date with the soap star and almost got raped/molested? I vaguely recall that episode as I think I've only ever seen it once or twice. Also, I'm blanking here, because I'm sure they did but I just can't remember, but did Degrassi ever do a major rape storyline? I remember one on Northwood (damn, that was a good show too - anyone remember it) but I can't remember one on Degrassi. -

Ah, yes, Stephanie. "All the way with Stephanie Kay." And her brother (half brother?) was the very dorky Arthur, who often hung out with Yik. That was until Yik turned all badass and started hanging out with the tougher crowd (Luke, etc.) Stephanie was just in Degrassi Jr. High and I believe she was shipped off to private school (or so was the excuse) by the time they hit senior high. -

WTF, I thought Wheels killed Lucy in that car accident. Or did he just kill the other family. It's been awhile since I've seen "School's Out". And yes, Spike and Snake are married. However, they appear to be back to Christine and Archie (not sure if Snake always goes by Archie but I don't think they ever call Christine Spike). And Snake has cancer. But yes, on this most recent episode, the Zits/Zit Remedy did revive the classic "Everybody Want's Somethin'" while on the drive home from bowling. It was just awesome. Perhaps one of the greatest TV moments of all time. Anyways, if you were a fan of the old Degrassi but haven't checked this out yet, do so. I watched the first few episodes when it came out and it wasn't great, but lately when I've been checking it out it's been pretty awesome. In fact, one episode Emma went to look for her father (who as we all know is Shane - the fucking psycho who jumped off the bridge when he was on LSD and has brain damage as a result). Just seeing Shane was cool. In fact, Shane looks alot like Jonathon Torrence (Jono from Jonovision and the wigger on Trailer Park Boys). -
PrideFC: Final Conflict (Finalized!)

Only real surpises to me there are Jackson v. Liddell and Crocop v. Nog. I thought Jackson would be slightly favoured over Liddell, especially now that the fights have been shortened to 15 minutes. I think Chuck will have trouble knocking Rampage out that fast and I think we all can agree that any remotely close decision is going to QJ. It does not surprise me that Crocop is favoured, but the degree by which he is favoured is rather surprising. I figured they'd have odds more along the Goodridge-Bobish fight. -

They really ought to throw out the whole 2 divisions and just go one league. Anyways... In the East No Dave Dickenson = No Win for the Lions. I'm thinking there will be a little Pinball magic and Toronto will pull this one off. Of course they will follow up a strong performance by going on to get slaughtered by Montreal. In the West Can Winnipeg actually (ever) live up to their potential? I see them beating the Green Riders. Just too many weapons on offence and one of them (Jones, Stegall, Roberts, or Sellars) is bound to have a big game at home. Of course, the team will move onto Edmonton and lose, due to Charles Roberts not being able to run the ball at Commonwealth.

After having watched a few episodes that I missed here are my thoughts: a) Matt is not in on it. After watching the whole cannonball competition where Kip couldn't swim and Matt got all pissed off at the model. I'm sure he wasn't in on it. b) Anyone notice how when Dr. Pat was picking who she thought to win (in the cliffhanger) she said something along the lines of "the one who has been the most real"? Me thinks Matt's going to win because of that (well, I thought he was going to win anyways but I think that is a clue). Then after that Hutch gets pissed and pulls out the gun and chaos ensues before they reveal to Matt that it is indeed a work.

Yes, I know everyone else in the world probably uses AOL IM, but everyone I know (and I think it's more of a Canadian thing) uses MSN Messenger. Anyways, my problem is that when trying to run 6.0 the program always starts up then shuts itself down and when I run my cursor over the little symbol in the bottom right corner, the little symbol just dissapears. It's a fucking pain in the ass. BTW, I'm using Windows XP. Now I think part of the problem might be because I also have the default Windows Messenger (which is virtually the same thing as MSN messenger) on my computer. However, this was not a problem when I had 5.0 or whatever installed. Any help?

Wow. Henderson-Busta will rule the school. I too am close to being more psyched for this card than I was for Total Elimination. -
Did you do the Printing Press ending? Because I thought there was someway you could get to the ending by not acquiring the printing press, but it is a different ending. But yes, the game is easy.

So anyways, Animal Crossing really intrigues me. Never played but I think it would be great. Anyways, Future Shop in Canada has the Gamecube for 139.99. But with a $40 mail in rebate I can get it for 99.99 Canadian between October 14th and October 16th. Also, Animal Crossing is only 39.99 and comes with a memory card (which retail in Canada around 24.99). So I have little money but this sounds like a great deal. Is it worth it? Also a few questions: Are memory cards coming with games the norm on Gamecube? Is Animal Crossing still good without the E-Reader, Gameboy Advance, etc? Also, to anyone who has played it: Do you need a Gameboy Advance each time you travel to the island or only the first time?

I know there is the topic on selling someone a salary cap for baseball but I didn't want to sift through 5 pages of people arguing about the Yankees to find what I am looking for. So can anyone explain the NFL salary cap to me? From what I take, the idea is for every team to make money. The TV contract is split up and a large part of the salary cap is based around that. Is there revenue sharing as well? And from my interpretation if there is a big increase in revenue for teams one year then the next year the salary cap level will jump accordingly. That's my understanding of it. Can anyone explain to me the actual details?

*Note: Don't move this to games. Every other thread there is about RPG's and no one talks about sports sims (apart from EWR)* Where to begin: Hockey: As Mentioned Eastside Hockey Manager is great and free. The designer of that actually took a job with SI Games (the makers of Championship Manager) and is working on EHM: Franchise Edition. Go to www.sigames.com for info. Baseball: OOTP is a good bet. Like someone mentioned 2 is floating around for free out there. I also played Baseball Mogul 2002 (or something) and it wasn't bad. Had the real players and shit. Football (American): Front Office Football. I'm not a big football fan but this game is totally awesome. I have 2001 and I think 2004 is coming out soon. If only I had the money. If anyone is a fan of owner mode in Madden but just enjoys simming the games you would love this game. One time the public in Chicago voted down my proposal to improve Soldier Field so I moved the team to Hartford. Yeah, I'm a bastard. I still play this game even though I got it almost 3 years ago. Basketball: Don't know any NBA ones but there are a few good college ones. To start with Tournament Dreams by www.411softwarestudios.com. Never played it but if it's anything like is precursor Coaching A Dynasty it is awesome. CAD is just a superb college basketball simulator and if I had the money TD would be a for sure buy for me as well. Football (Soccer): Championship Manager. Nuf said. There may be even some old free versions of it out there. Anyways another very cool one is called Sensible World of Soccer 97/98. You can actually play the game as well, but it's not FIFA graphics or anything just this cool overhead view. And the management part is really cool for those with little soccer knowledge. And for any of your freeware/abandonware needs make sure to check out www.the-underdogs.org which has many of the games I talked about and many other good sims that I have not tried out.

I don't think that card looks bad. Tank - Cabbage should be fun if not lacking fundamentally. Matt Hughes is always enjoyable to watch. Ricco-Rizzo and Thomas-Edwards should both be decent. Tanner is easy to cheer for and Baroni is easy to boo (although at the same time, Baroni proved vs. Lindland that he is a true competitor) and add to that Sims-Mir in a much nanticipated rematch from my perspective and its got the makings of a good card. True, there is no standout blowaway match, but at the same time every match has potential to be enjoyable. I think this will be one of those cards that people won't expect anything going in and be really surprised coming out of it. My big concern is the title situation in the UFC. Are three belts vacant? Correct me if I'm wrong here: LW: Vacant - I can't believe this is still vacant after they stripped Little Evil. How long has it been? (are they waiting for the winner of Penn-Uno III - is that ever going to happen?) WW: Matt Hughes?? MW: Vacant/Murilo Bustamante? (is this guy still the champ or did they strip him too?) LH: Couture (although after that whole interim fiasco) HW: Vacant When four of your five titles have had controversy surrounding them in the past year it's time to take a serious look at the big picture. And on a side note has anyone read (or have any news on) Jens Pulver's autobiography? I've been looking for it. Not even sure if it is out yet. Seems like the release date keeps getting pushed back. -
Never mind. The Pitbull was the first one and Stu and Hawk were 2 & 3. Which Pitbull was it though? Anthony Durante or Gary Wolfe? Stu was the old guy, Hawk the (somewhat) shocker, and Pitbull the bizarre (what with his kids left alone in the house and everything - what was the whole story their? Did his wife/girlfriend die as well?).

We have vastly differing opinions on good jerseys. The Whalers jerseys were great (once they moved from the green to the navy blue) were great. The symbol was always medioric but no worse than the "Eye of the Hurricane" or whatever that is. Anyways, Whaler jerseys were far greater. Nordiques to Avs. Don't get me wrong, the Avs jerseys aren't bad (actually their third jersey is extremely cool) but don't be dissin the fleur de lis. Those Nords jerseys were great with the Nords white jerseys being extremely cool looking for some unexplainable reason (perhaps it's the vast amount of white). Canucks redesign. Colours - Good. Symbol - Terrible. What the hell is that anyways? Yes, I know it has to do with Orca Bay (who owned the Canucks at the time) but seriously what if every team starting basing their symbols around the corporation that owns them. Kings jerseys. Agreed. They are great. Awesome uni's. The colours are way better than the Coyotes. I really love the Wild uniforms and the fact that they didn't just do something easy like black, etc. And their emblem is incredible saying so many things at once.

Bonds' supplement company under investigation
Brush with Greatness replied to Bored's topic in Sports
I find names like Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones being thrown around here a lot more meaningful than Bonds.
