The One and Only "Saved By The Bell" Thread
Brush with Greatness replied to a topic in Television & Film
So this one released right now is with Mikey instead of Slater and that other ugly girl (Maria maybe) instead of Kelly and Jessie? Those episodes weren't half bad. I enjoy Screech more in those early episodes than later on. -
Sort of has the whole neighbourhood in it with all the kids and shit surrounding 2 pac in the hood as he sings. Stupid question? Yes it is.

And on an aside, I think it's time the CFL scrapped the whole two divisions. Just play one whole league with no divisions (be it 7,8, or 9 teams next year). Have the top two receive byes. Three plays six and four plays five. This would hurt the divisional rivalries meeting up in the division finals, but I think being able to see a Edmonton-Calgary or Winnipeg-Saskatchewan Grey Cup one day would more than make up for this.

Wow, for the first time in about three seasons Winnipeg is actually starting to play up to their potential. They're not there yet but almost. On paper, they've been the best team in the league the past few seasons, however, circumstances, some controllable some not, have prevented them from winning the Grey Cup. Perhaps this could be the year. Although I'm sure some shit will happen like Roberts and Stegal getting injured right before the playoffs.

And Abby was such a mainstay in those two feds? Not to mention Bruiser Brody, another guy Corino could be compared to. Where was his North American mainstream success? I really enjoy Corino. I thought his ECW stuff was really good and he was one of the best, if not the very best, reasons to watch ECW in it's dying days. His feud with Dusty was excellent. And on top of that Team Corino was great. Both Rhyno and Tajiri got their start as members of Team Corino and got the rub from Corino to start their pushes. Long live the King of the Old School.

Try this one on. Recreate WCW at about 16% Global PI. This puts you at war with WWE to start (their at 55% Global PI). Have fun building up a roster. None of the Japanese touring guys will sign with you. The problem then is that there is almost no one who is over and talented that is not touring Japan. You can pick up a lot of talented guys who aren't at all over. Or somewhat over guys who have little skills. And the kicker, if you want the over guys like Savage, Sting, Piper and Bret Hart, then risk alienating all 4 of them if you also sign Hogan. Yet Hogan is the most over free agent. You know how much it actually sucks when you're basically forced to sign Sandman? Thank god for being able to ink the Second City Saints. All in all, I've actually found this more difficult than starting at National or lower. At least with those levels you can acess the Japan touring wrestlers. Sometimes they will stick with you once you hit global. Also, by starting lower, you have time to build up your non-over talented workers that you have under written contract so that when you have hit global you have talented main eventers under written contract. Sure teams like the Backseat Boyz are great, but their original lack of overness really hurts on a Global stage.

Mother Charged With Putting On Birthday Striptease
Brush with Greatness replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Current Events
Assuming she was hot, and I was one of the friends expecting to go to the go-carts, this would really help make up for my dissapointment in not going. I think that's all she was trying to accomplish. Not letting the boys be dissapointed that is. -
I don't think you understand the wrestling business. WWE makes their money primarily off PPV buyrates, with house show ticket sales and merchandise also being large revenue streams. You want to know what happens at PPV's and house shows? Wrestling. Two guys (or more) getting in the ring and having a match. And fans prefer those guys to be trained wrestlers who can deliver an entertaining match. The purpose of television is to sell these products and get people out watching and buying PPV's and tickets respectively. They need to get wrestlers "over" because that leads to more people wanting to watch them wrestle and buy their merchandise and this in turn leads to more money. The purpose of wrestling television should never be to "pop a rating" or simply try to entertain the fans by any means necessary. So what if a bunch of people tune in one week to watch some stupid segment or what have you. People doing that doesn't make the WWE any money. Like I said, the money comes from PPV's, ticket sales and merchandise. People are not going to buy PPV's or tickets or merchandise for Jonathon Coachman or Linda McMahon or any other fucknut non-wrestler. The fact that Stone Cold can't deliver in the ring anymore severly diminishes his money drawing power (although he still sell's merchandise). Therefore you should not be putting them over people who are capable of actually delivering the product, and that product is wrestling. So yes, the purpose is getting the wrestlers "over". That is, if they want to make money. When your business is wrestling, the more "over" the wrestlers are, the more money you're going to make. Let's see. A 4.2 rating. Back in 2000 the WWF was regularly drawing high 6's with the occasional low 7. Each rating point is equivalent to something like 900,000 viewers (I can't recall the exact number). Now lets do some math: A low 7 - a low 4 = about 3 ratings points. That's almost 3 million people you've turned off the product in 3 years. You're telling me that's a good thing? House show ratings are down, hence why thev'ye started running shows in every little Bumfuck, USA. Ever notice how they would never go near some of the towns they're touring now during the glory years? That's because they didn't need to. People in the major centers craved the product and wanted to see it more often. Merchandise sales are also down. Not to mention their bread and butter, PPV buyrates, are drastically dropping. It doesn't fucking matter if the WWE is drawing 10.0 ratings. It doesn't fucking matter if what is on TV is entertaining. If people aren't buying the PPV's, house shows and merchandise, the company is going to make very little money. One more thing, someone give Iggy McFly a quarter so he can buy a fucking clue before he shoots his mouth off next time.

This story here is a follow up. Basically what happened was a father was camping with his family and at about 7 am the man went over to a campsite where 4 guys had been partying all night and asked them to keep it down. He was subsequently beaten to death.

Couldn't agree more. What the fuck is the point of Austin making every one look like his bitch? You say he's the most popular guy on the Raw roster? It's because he's never made to look bad. Austin is useless in the ring and therefore should start putting over other talent. You want to get Randy Orton over? Have him give Austin a piledriver and put Austin off TV for a few months. I guarantee you've got a new star right there. It's time to give up the toughest SOB persona when you can't deliver in the ring anymore.

When were Heenan, Sherry or Dibiase ever the central focus of a feud. Heenan stepped into the ring a few times and was made to look like an ass every time. He was a weak coward. Sherry was a conniving bitch who always got what was coming to her. Dibiase was always a marginal figure in any storyline other than the one's where he was wrestling. Again, pre-1998 when was Vince involved? Sure, you had your Jack Tunney's and Gorilla Monsoon's in power positions but they were never made to look good at the expense of the actual talent. I said pre 1998. There are a few reason's why Austin-McMahon worked. 1. People could relate to the characters. Austin was the working man, Vince the evil boss, a story everyone can relate to. The beloved son of the evil boss fighting off the horribly disfigured monster who was playing with matches as a kid and burned his parents to death. Well, most people can't really relate to that. 2. It was the first time it had been done where a non-wrestler played a central figure. It was edgy, it was fresh, and the non-wrestler also had himself surrounded with loads of wrestlers. People don't want to see non-wrestlers feuding. The first time, yeah it was interesting, every other time after that no one has given a shit.

More Proof the world is going to shit
Brush with Greatness replied to Brush with Greatness's topic in Current Events
On top of this: This happened the same weekend in Winnipeg. I don't know about America or Toronto, but in Canada this shit just isn't that common. I'm also noticing a trend lately provincially (Manitoba that is) that there have been a shitload of deaths where the weapon was nothing other than one's own fists and feet. -
Please give examples, pre 1998, where a non-wrestler played such a major part in a storyline. Managers, announcers, owners, and anyone else without any wrestling skill should be used as enhancement talent. In no case, should any of these people be made to look good over a wrestler. There is nothing wrong with using one of these people to advance a storyline. For instance, wrestler A is feuding with wrestler B. Wrestler A beats up wrestler B's manager in a match/segment etc. Wrestler B then jumps wrestler A back. That's okay. The manager is being used to enhance the story. Non-wrestlers being made to look good over actual workers is a serious problem.

I think it may have something to do with that whole "cheap Tuesdays" phenomenon ruling North America for awhile. I never understood the reasoning for cheap Tuesdays (and cheap Tuesday deals are still in effect at alot of places; restaurants, etc.) Theatres used to have cheap Tuesdays where the price of a movie was cheaper than any other day of the week (same as a matinee price usually). Anyways, due to the theatre cheap Tuesdays, I figure video stores used to release movies on Tuesday's to sway people's entertainment dollar their way. Music and DVD's just followed suit. That's my theory anyways.

Low Ki: Capable worker or liability?
Brush with Greatness replied to Ace309's topic in General Wrestling
I would also like to mention Marco Ruas (6'1" 210 lbs) totally working over Paul Varelans (6'8" 300 lbs) with kicks to capture the UFC 7 tourney. -
I know this could fall under music, but I figure it will probably get better responses in the Movies folder. Anyways, I'm going to make a CD of songs from Tarantino's movies (yes, I know their is a CD called the Tarantino Connection already - in fact I used to have it but it somehow dissappeared) So, what I want is for everyone to list their favourite songs from Tarantino movies, this way I won't miss any that I like but forget about.. Also, list your favourite spoken words that you know appear on the soundtracks. The other spoken words would be tough to come by. On top of this, I want Sweet Jane by the Cowboy Junkies and Waiting for the Miracle by Leonard Cohen, both from Natural Born Killers to be on this CD. Therefore, I'm opening it up to any Tarantino written/directed/produced movie. I believe this includes True Romance, Reservoir Dogs, Desperado, NBK, From Dusk til Dawn, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. I'm probably missing one (and I don't want the Four Rooms song). So in conclusion, if you could list songs, performers and from what movies that would be great. Thanks.

Phil Baroni is actually a UFC fighter. And I must admit, one of the best heel's in the business. He's one of the few MMA guys who tries to literally get the fans against him. The only weakness with his heel schtick is that he has a strong heart, which sort of goes against the prima donna heel persona.

K-1 or MMA Mirko would school Tyson. Yeah, put them in a boxing match and Tyson will win. He's been a world champion and you're also taking away Mirko's biggest weapon.

Mirko "Crocop" Filipovic 6'2" 213 lbs. vs. Bob "The Beast" Sapp 6'3" 350 lbs. Mirko's not a lightweight but thats almost 150 pound difference. Anyone remember the result of that fight? -
Crocop would knock Tyson silly. No way could Iron Mike get inside on Mirko and Mirko would eventually KO Tyson with a kick. I think Pride has Crocop's exclusive rights now as it is.

Indeed the Second City Saints rule all. There are the MVP's of my ECW fed. They singlehandedly have gotten the Backseat Boys, Stryker & Collyer, The Briscoes and the SAT to mid 80's over levels just through matches.

Of course you're all wrong considering none of you have the Twins even making the playoffs. I'm not a Twins fan, but come on, you know there going to get in.

I used to be a big fan of dvd.ign.com but ever since that one editor left and the new one took over it's been shit. It's a pity because it was one of my favourite sites before. It had the exact taste in movies as me (for the most part) and everything. Now all they review is indy shit and barely have any news updates. So what does everyone else use?

Is the Flip Top Anything Like This? Speaking of which, has anyone tried this out?
