No, I agree, but I'm not suggesting blindly trusting the government (although certain tired hacks here might think otherwise). In regards to the 9/11 'stuff', the conspiracy theory that the government was behind it would have to be so incredibly complicated and, as the Popular Mechanics article points out, you would have to totally contradict real physics (not to mention logic) in order for it to be true, and while I do think that for the most part conspiracy theorists are equal opportunity wackjobs (that is to say, believe this shit regardless of who's in office), I suspect there is a certain percentage that is willing to believe this particular theory because it fits in with their own conceived notions that the Bush administration is 'evil' and would gleefully do this to their own people. For oil or some other bullshit, I suppose. It's not a wild accusation on my part. There's quite a few people like, if I may go back in history and name drop here, ol' Frank Zappa Mask (or hunger/INXS), who would believe in it. Hell, that PM article says that out of 3,000 books on 9/11 most (MOST!) reject that Osama Bin Laden / hijackers carried it out.

What are we looking for in this thread? By longevity do you mean the ability to remain a band putting out music, or do you mean consistently having hit records for years upon years, over the course of at least a two decade career? Because if it's the former, fuck man, the fucking Grassroots still do goddamn tours. They're coming to a mall or state fair in your area some time soon. But they aren't burning down the Billboard charts anymore. I don't see virtually ANY band listed here being the latter, though. MAYBE Coldplay. I like Coldplay, actually, but regardless of that they have that soft Europop sound that's just derivative enough of U2 that they could maybe carve out a nich for themselves that lasts a while. Sad to say it, but a band I'm terrified is going to be around for many years to come is Green Day. Much to my chagrin. But the ones listed here, no. Bands like Death Cab or Wilco or Queens of the Stone Age may be around for years to come and make a good living off of what they do, but they'll largely be cult favorites rather than huge stars. That's not really a knock against them. That's the future of the business....with the music business becoming more and more specialized, it's going to be harder to become a mainstream, crossover success, unless you're sort of 'factory-made' like Kelly Clarkson.

Than those people are idiots. PPVs are planned months in advance and TNA would have to have some kind of seer on the payroll to predict that a massive snowstorm was going to hit that exact weekend to fuck up transportation.

Why is it misguided? If I was the new CEO, and I see a couple of my workers blow off a PPV for my promotion - not a regular TV taping, a fucking PPV - for some indy gig, it wouldn't endear them to me.

I'm with Jerk on this one. The idea of Tom Selleck as Iron Man intrigues me, but realistically Selleck is a good 10 years too old for the part, at least by Hollywood standards.

TNA apparently wants to do another X-cup in the future, and had hoped to have Lyger and a few other NJ workers (Tiger Mask being one of them, I think) be the Japanese team. Other than that, TNA isn't really relying on much for anything. But still, obviously they'd rather have at least some sort of connections into Japan. Although at this point, they'd may be better off forming a working relationship with someone like Dragon's Gate if they just want juniors.

I don't know if Rudo was being facetious, but I doubt that the meeting could have been about selling New Japan to the WWE. Yukes owns NJPW, I don't think Inoki really has much to do with that end. A working relationship with the WWE wouldn't bring anything good. Unless people are clamoring for an Undertaker / Manabu Nakanishi match or something.
