When did Nitro go from 2 to 3 hours?

This is a pay per view I've seen once, but it was several years ago and to be honest I can't remember anything about it. I've always thought that the old school Survivor Series shows are fun to watch or good for a rent or something to check out, though I can see why they started moving away from the "team" formats since the matches were pretty "meaningless". I guess, though, that they've kept the old school elimination matches in most of the Survivor Series shows, but after the 1990 show started to add title matches.

Keeping it real Rivalry with Stone Cold wasn't rehearsed By BRET HART This past week, I've been completing an upcoming TV special about a one-time NHLer who used to play for the Rochester Americans. I was riding in the production van when it pulled up at the Rochester War Memorial Auditorium and I was instantly struck by memories of many great matches I had there, many of them involving Stone Cold Steve Austin. While storylines suggested Steve and I had an intense, bitter rivalry, we were always close friends who had a deep mutual respect. I sat down on the front steps of the Rochester War Memorial and gave Steve a call. Turns out, he has a part in the remake of The Longest Yard and was talking to me from the set in L.A. When I told him where I was calling from, he chuckled almost deviously and we enjoyed swapping old war stories. I asked Steve if he has any plans to return to the ring and he said he's been feeling it in his knees and neck lately. And he's not sure if it'd be worth risking injuring himself at this point in his career. But never say never in wrestling. We joked about whose knees are worse -- mine or his -- and recalled that when I needed to have knee surgery for real, we had a story angle in which Steve was all fired up after losing to me at Wrestlemania XIII. He viciously attacked my knee with a chair on Raw the next night in Binghamton, N.Y., so I could go home to have my knee taken care of. We talked about the present state of the business and we both had similiar sentiments: Realism is severely lacking and, for me, it's the realism I always loved about the business. Our matches and interviews were never overly rehearsed and no script writer could have invented a Stone Cold or a Hitman match as well as Steve Williams and I did. Wrestling shouldn't be reduced to a formula written by someone else to be followed by wrestlers because then the result will never come across as genuine. Pro wrestling should be an art form so wrestlers can tell stories in the ring again. Just before we got off the phone, Steve Austin invited me down to visit him in Texas to go wild boar hunting. Something tells me that will be quite a tale.

Hey, you can always put TNA as your wild card.

http://www.thehonkytonkman.com/news/98854423.shtml "Rumors have surfaced that Kane has given his notice to WWE. It is not known at this point if the rumors are for real. It seems WWe made a substantial cut in dollar amount on the renewal of Kane's contract. Kane was said not to be happy with the numbers and has given his early release notice. The story is developing and we will have more on this huge turn of events." Okay, so no credible source has posted it yet, but I figured it was worth a thread. Is there any reason why HTM would know about Kane leaving the WWE? Are he and Jacobs friends or something?

I actually liked the Bret/Diesel Rumble 1995 match a LOT, about as much as the Survivor Series one.
-
I never saw the first one, but heard great things about it.

It'd be weird to have JBL/Booker, since Booker just lost in a US title feud. But I suppose they could go there.

Saw this on the LoP site...don't know if its been posted yet: "For those wondering why Gene Snitsky's promos seem old school and "goofy," Stephanie McMahon had a huge influence on the style. Apparently, after his first promo came off really silly, Stephanie McMahon found it hilarious and WWE sources decided to run with Snitsky as a goofy speaker."

This is the weirdest thing ever. But I'll add mine later!

So is this pretty much a one match show?
-
I heard a funny one the other night. I was watching some old RAW's from 1993, and there was a Tatanka/Nasty Boys vs. HBK/Beverly Brothers 6-man tag where Tatanka pinned HBK leading into Wrestlemania 9. Anyways, during the match one of the Nasty Boys pins one of the Beverlys. The other Beverly comes into the ring and kicks the Nasty in the head to break up the pinfall. Vince: "One...two..." He pauses. Vince: Well...that wasn't very nice. The way Vince says it is just classic. I miss Vince the douchebag announcer.

Seven years ago Brian Pillman passed away...
JoeDirt replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
In 1989, IIRC, he had some really good matches with Lex Luger. He was fantastic in the ring for the most part as "Flyin' Brian". And who doesn't love the Hollywood Blondes? This may be stupid, but what was the actual cause of death for Pillman? Did he OD? -
I have to admit I've never seen this show, so I'm interested to see what everyone has to say about it. This was a time in WCW where things were just about to go downhill (at least in the view of many) as you had Hogan feuding with Vader next and bringing in his friends (with guys like Duggan going over Austin, etc) and then feuding with the horrible Dungeon of Doom.
-
At least they're pushing somebody new and pushing him strong. So he may not be the best in the ring...he has to at least be better than Heidenreich, who is also getting a good push. Sure, it's frustrating that there are a zillion guys they could put in these positions and give the push to instead, but the thing with Smackdown right now is that it's not stale...it's fucking weird, yes, but to me it's just a better show than RAW right now. And at least they're TRYING to elevate some new talent. You gotta look at the positives, I guess...

I always liked the Pillman/Goldust feud, one of the first times Russo would use his "wife/girlfriend leaves her man because he loses a match and then ends up turning on him" storyline, though this didn't get that far. "Your little daugher, Dakota? She's mine! She's my love child! And it was so good!" -
I actually have always liked the HBK/Tatanka WM9 match a lot, too. Haven't seen Tatanka/Flair, though. HBK/Sid from Survivor Series 1996 is a great example of what you're talking about, though.

Or Big Show, even. Angle could get his win back and then move on to feud with Taker.

CCC carries an apple with him to the ring?
