There are 2 PPVs in June this year. Bad Blood is the RAW PPV in Columbus. GAB is the SD PPV.

I predict we see Christian/Trish vs. Jericho/Lita. Or maybe X/Trish vs. Lita in a handicap match to give them a warmup for Backlash. I'm guessing we'll see Hurricane/Rosey beat La Resistance to get a tag team title shot at Backlash. But they may also realize that the tag division sucks ass, and just make a Benjamin vs. Flair or Batista match. Or have Benjamin find a partner (Maven?) to take them on for the tag straps. Are we ever going to hear Edge talk? I think they should have him do that this week...maybe as a guest on Jericho's talk show thingy?
-
The now-fake Taker could say his real name is Armon Tamzarian.
-
I think Droz had a **-ish match with Marc Mero at Breakdown in 98.
-
Can you think of any that come to mind? I just saw a Smoking Gunns vignette the other day from 1993, right before they debuted. It shows them pulling out guns, and then closeups on their hands as they rattle off shots and do gun tricks, then pull back again to show Billy and Bart. AWFUL vignette.
-
The sad thing is that I could actually buy WWE running this angle. I think a Taker/Taker team (with one of the Taker's being Kevin Nash in a wig) forming after an apology by one Taker to the other and then a big hug would be a sweet angle. It's got money written all over it.

It's a Tuesday RAW PPV on October 19...so I assume the 10/21 SD would be live, or taped Wednesday instead of something. It'll be interesting to see how it does.

Bring Sable into the office and try and convince her that if she ever wants to make it big in the wrestling business, she'll need to get implants. See if she can keep a straight face. Tell HHH that they've brought the guy for his next big feud, a rival from his WCW days...Alex Wright. Have the writers tell Matt Hardy they're going to give him a big push and really lead him on before busting out laughing at him and asking him if he thought they were serious...that push will be going to John Heidenreich.
-
Well, GAB fits in with Kurt Angle as GM. You know what other WCW summer tradition the WWE should bring back? Road Wild!
-
I remember the cage match being only around 10 minutes, and not very good at all. You're right, Warror is easily one of the worst of all time. No wonder he tanked as champion.
-
With their match at SD coming up, have RVD and Booker T faced each other before on television? I remember they were going to feud back in 2002, but they switched the feuds to RVD/Regal and Edge/Booker (the infamous shampoo feud~!). I don't recall them having a match before.

Okay, so the WWF decided to make Billy Gunn their 1999 King of the Ring. Sure, it wouldn't be my first choice, and probably not yours either, but they did. They needed another upper card heel, so this was supposed to be the start of a big push for Billy. Fine. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but that's what they decided. But then the booking got weird. The night after King of the Ring, on a night that should be all about getting Gunn over as the next big heel, he gets pinned...by BRADSHAW. He gets pinned cleanly by the Rock in a six man tag match in July. At the "rights to the DX name" match at Fully Loaded, he gets pinned by Road Dogg, and not Chyna. He jobs to Undertaker on an episode of Heat. He jobs cleanly to Rock at Summerslam. He turns face and jobs to new champion HHH in September. Road Dogg comes back, and the Outlaws return. My question is, why did they half ass his push so much? Did they realize right away he was a flop? Or did they never have confidence in him to be a major heel in the first place? Whether you think he deserved the push or not, you have to admit the way it was done was pretty weird.

Mabel's best match was probably in the tag team title match at WM10 or the tag team match ay IYH2. Nothing great by any means, probably **1/4 or so, but I can't think of anything better. Virgil/Dibiase was well booked and the crowd was really into it. Virgil wasn't a horrible worker back in the day. Haku/Sting was from GAB95, not 96. How about Crush/Brian Adams? What about Duggan? Kama/Godfather? Kurrgan? Tiger Ali Singh?
-
Who? And I'll just wait til someone reports this with all caps in the title since my computer craps out too much on Meltzers site. Bryan Danielson=American Dragon I know, but pretend I'm a mark who only watches WWE. Random WWE Mark: Whos Brian Danielson? The best wrestler you've never seen, motherfucker. But yeah, Raven's right. In general, at that size, you have to do the flippity floppity stuff.

Cade does a really nice top rope elbow drop.

Rosey beats a jobber. Are they EVER going to get rid of the stupid superhero gimmick?

Heel...face... It doesn't matter if they don't give you any chance to get some sort of a character over. I don't care what the hell London is as long as they PUSH HIM.
-
I think everyone's forgetting about Billy Gunn! Smoking Gunns debuted as faces. Turned heel in late 95/early 96. Turned face along with DX in 1998. Turned heel before his KOTR win in 1999. Turned face and got back with Road Dogg in September 1999. Turned heel when DX reformed in November of 1999. After his injury, he returned as a babyface in 2000. Turned heel in his tag team with Big Show. (Not sure about this one) Turned face for the Invasion angle. Turned heel for the Billy and Chuck tag team. Turned face after the "wedding". That's 10 turns right there, and I'm probably missing more. Plus the it looked like he'd return from injury at the Rumble this year as a cocky heel, but then he just came back as the old babyface Billy Gunn.
-
Test: Debuted as a heel Turned face and joined the Union. Turned heel and joined T&A Turned face when they split Turned heel during the Invasion. Turned face with the whole Testicles debacle Turned heel on Stacy. That's 6 turns in 5 years right there...unless there's more I'm forgetting.

Here's a fuller report of the RAW show from the Torch. I don't know if it was the economy or whether fans stayed away in droves after Triple H and Ric Flair were scratched from the announced card, but only 1,000 or 1,500 fans attended the Raw house show in Saginaw. Less than half as many fans as attended a house show that I attended there two years ago where Scott Steiner and RVD wrestled Triple H and Ric Flair in the main event if memory serves me right. You would have thought it was a Smackdown House Show as the crowd sat on its hands most of the night. The loudest chants by far were "Rest Holds Suck" and when Molly Holly wrestled in a fatal four way against Lita, Jazz and Victoria, the chant directed at Molly was "Chin Strap" as Molly had the ugliest wig I have ever seen fastened to her peach fuzzy head with a Chin Strap. To start the show, Stacy Keibler came out, showed off the longest legs in the world and welcomed everyone to Raw in Saginaw. Then Johnny Nitro came out and told Stacy only hot people are allowed to stand in the middle of the ring and told her to stand off to the side. Nitro said Eric Bischoff had put him in charge of the show that night and Ric Flair and Triple H would not be there. Lots of boos. He said the main event would be Batista versus Chris Benoit (1) Hurricane & Rosey defeated La Resistance. Standard match by both teams with Hurricane and Rosey combining on a move that looked like an airplane spin into a neck breaker to win. Suddenly Eugene came out clutching a stuffed Easter Bunny and began gladhanding with ringside fans while the referee tried to get him to go to the back. All Eugene wanted to do was to shake Hurricane's hand and he was content to head backstage. Eugene was one of the more over wrestlers Saturday night. (2) Garrison Cade defeated Tajiri. Cade got no crowd reaction at all. Except a few ringsiders who yelled that he looked like Barry Windham. Tajiri, as always, threw some very realistic kicks. If Cade was trained by HBK, he has a long way to go to have a fraction of his heat. (3) Victoria won a Fatal Four-way Women's Match over Molly Holly, Lita, and Jazz.. Lita and Victoria wound up pinning Molly and Jazz simultaneously and then wrestled a technical match until Lita missed on a move off the top rope and Victoria rolled her up. Suddenly, there was Eugene again clutching his Easter Bunny and a box of marshmallow Easter candies he fed to Lita and Victoria who were happy to oblige. Suddenly, William Regal came out and threw the candies to the floor and scolded Eugene with one of those looks he does so well. (4) Eugene beat A-Train. A-Train raced out to Shave Your Back chants. This is where the crowd found that Eugene could actually wrestle. During the match, A-Train tore up the Easter Bunny and Eugene then tried to gather up the pieces. While clutching what was left of the Easter Bunny, Eugene sort of outsmarted A-Train when he tried to crush him in the corner and A-Train knocked himself out after hitting the turnbuckle. I had some misgivings about this Eugene angle with Regal, but now I think it will be an overwhelming success at getting laughs anyway. It wasn't very offending, if at all offending. (5) Kane beat Rhyno. A forgettable match with Kane winning with his power moves. Edge then raced out and after nearly being chokeslammed and speared Kane, who looked real pissed storyline wise anyway, The crowd didn't know who the heel was in the Rhyno Kane match and cheered both. (6) Randy Orton fought Shelton Benjamin to a draw so Orton retained the IC Title. This was the worst of the night. Once again, Johnny Nitro came out and told fans that Bischoff had told him to make it a two-out-of-three fall 20-minute match. Boring chants filled the air for most of the next 20 minutes as Orton and Benjamin tried to wrestle the deliberate style McMahon wants to prevent injury. Neither wrestler sold the holds well and the crowd booed and chanted boring.. The best wrestling was in the 20th minute when Benjamin rolled up Orton and had a two count when the bell rang and the referee declared a draw. Benjamin got some polite applause and Orton was greeted by the squeals of love struck girls sitting ringside. Ten-minute intermission. (7) Chris Jericho defeated Christian in one of the best matches of the night, but no Trish Stratus was present. Jericho was extremely over with the crowd who rejoiced when he defeated Christian with the Walls of Jericho. (8) Matt Hardy, who also was popular with the crowd, defeated Chuck Palumbo who was taunted with chants like "You Have No Gimmick" and "You Suck, Billy told us." (9) Chris Benoit beat Batista to retain the World Hvt. Title. Benoit carried Batista to a match that was okay, but that's about it, Crowd did pop when Benoit defeated him with crossface and when Cade and Orton ran in to triple team Benoit. Tajiri then ran in, sprayed Orton with green mist and the night was over on a fairly high note. It was obvious Saturday that Evolution is only as good as the sum of its four parts. There were times when Batista and Orton looked lost. And Johnny Nitro must be taught how to speak in the ring mike. Two of the three times he gave a promo, I could barely hear him and I was in the second row.
-
But what had Edge done to get an IC title shot at Fully Loaded in the first place? Was there any issue with Jarrett?
-
I heard that too...the weird thing is that it really seemed like they were going towards a Jarrett/Austin feud, too. Maybe that was a post-Summerslam feud idea or something.

Why did Kelly (Tiffany Amber Thiessen) leave the show for a year or whatever it was? -

WOW! Every high school in my area lets you go out for lunch. You're probably thinking Elementary School. Well here they never let you go out of lunch at the high schools or you would get in trouble for skipping class or something. But, I did have some friends that went to high school in Cali. and FL. and they said that they got to go off campus for lunch. Oh man, that sucks for you guys. I went out to lunch every single day. And we got free soda at Wendy's.
