DOI reporting that Chris Candido has died...

Apparently Candido's brother posted on another board: Posted: Fri Apr 29, 2005 1:10 am Post subject: farewell chris candido -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I find it only fitting you hear the truth from me about the death of my bestfriend, brother, and soulmate. Chris died tonight due to a blood clot brought on by complications with his surgery. I just want to tell everyone that in their sorrow, find a way to be happy that he went out the way he wanted to...on top of the world, blonde, tan, and loving life up until the last minute. Every ounce of my brother loved this sport, and for him to go out 2 or 3 years ago wouldn't have been a fitting end to the life of such a determined, passionate, and benevolent human being. I truly view my brother as an angel as will all who knew him. Thanks to everyone for all your positive press, Chris went out a happy man and will forever live on as the(one of) greatest of all time. He would have had it no other way."

I wish I could post some of Chris' work in IWA-MS since his return. He was so damn charismatic, so damn good. Here's one match I have of Chris, vs. Shawn Michaels from WWF: http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3J33N20...SV0BFT6AANT0NYL

Inside the cage, Sonny Siaki did a dropkick and landed on Candido's leg, ankle, breaking it. He had to have surgery on it.

CHRIS CANDIDO PASSES AWAY By: Bob Ryder 4/29/2005 12:31:56 AM Chris Candido passed away Thursday night after collapsing earlier in the evening and being rushed to a hospital by ambulance. The cause of death is unknown at this time. Candido had suffered a serious ankle injury at the Lockdown pay-per-view on Sunday and had surgery to repair the injury on Monday evening. Candido appeared at TNA's iMPACT taping on Tuesday night in Orlando just hours after being released from the hospital. The news comes as an absolute shock to all of us who have worked with Chris in recent months. On behalf of everyone at 1wrestling.com, our thoughts and prayers are with Tammy and his family and friends.

Gabe Sapolsky posted: "I don't really know what to say so here is a thread for Chris. I'll post some thoughts on him once I'm out of this state of shock." So I guess it's slowly making the rounds or whatever...Chris, since his return, had been so damn entertaining. His stuff in IWA-MS was some of the funniest work I'd ever seen in my life. He was so damn good.

Gabe just posted on the ROH boards about it too...apparently it's true.

RF and Dana Dameson had sex

DOI and RF, bringing the classyness.
  10. Well nobody's forcing you to buy... RAW tapes get sold on Ebay for a lot more than seven bucks all the time. And I don't see how seven dollars shipped for four RAWs is that crazy.
  11. Was Earthquake ever pinned by anybody on a televised WWF event? I can't think of any PPV or TV match where he was, though I know Warrior pinned him in a match that ended up on the Wrestlefest 1991 tape.

    TNA on WGN?

I'll say this: If they AREN'T paying, then WGN is run by idiots. Honestly, their FSN ratings are pretty miserable. -=Mike They are? I thought their FSN ratings were great considering the timeslot and what other shows on the network get.

    WWE worried about the backlash

Matt said in one of his interviews that he'd go back if they asked him. He might have said too much publicly now for that to happen.

    WWE worried about the backlash

I'm more interested in Kane vs. Viscera than a lot of stuff on the show this Sunday, sadly. I want to see the crowd reactions to Lita... But there's no way they can bring her out in front of a live crowd on PPV now, can they? It could be REALLY funny if they do. I bet they shoot an angle where Viscera and Trish attack Lita backstage or something, so she doesn't have to come out in front of the crowd live. But we'll see.
  15. From 1990-1999, in a head to head matchup between WWF and WCW, who would you give the nod to in each year for having a better product? And then adding up your totals, who had a better decade, product wise?
  16. In the clip with HHH dropping a guy on his head with a sick pedigree, people think it's HBK in the ring with him.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

    1. Regarding Sgt. Slaughter's heel run, was he promised a big babyface run afterwards for doing it? Or did they turn him face afterwards because after the stuff with Hogan they had no use for him as a heel? (and no reason for him to keep getting death threats) 2. With Bam Bam getting promised a babyface run in 1995 for jobbing to LT at Mania, did they ever promise him something specific? (As in the WWF title or IC title or whatever) Were there ever any other possibilities of guys who would do the job to LT?

    PPV buyrate question

Okay, so as far as I know, the buyrate number equals the percent of people with capability to order a wrestling PPV who did. For instance, let's say a PPV gets a 1.0. Then 1% of people with the capability in their house to order it did. Is that right? I'm trying to figure out how well PPVs prior to 2001, especially older WWF and WCW PPVs did buyrate wise. For instance, how did the first fourteen Wrestlemanias (not counting the first, of course) rank for amount of buys? Summerslams? Royal Rumbles? When is it fair to start comparing buyrate numbers? And how can you take a number from a past WWF PPV and figure out how many people bought the show? For instance, Wrestlemania 10 got a 1.68 buyrate. But how many people actually saw the show? Was it a success or a flop?

What did he say? I believe he called her a fat cow.
  21. 1) Was there a bigger push ever planned for Tatanka? Going undefeated for almost 2 years is crazy, even at the time period. Did they lose faith in him in 1993, causing them to have him get beaten by Borga? Or did they never really ever have any big plans for him? And if not, why have him go so long without losing? 2) May be a stupid question, but were there ever talks of having Team WWF lose at Survivor Series 2001, just for shock value? Maybe run an angle leading to Mania where the WWF got to return? 3) Was the Invasion angle originally planned to go on much longer, and they just cut their losses by ending it at Survivor Series? 4) Is there anywhere that lists how many buys old WWF and WCW PPVs got?
  22. This was posted a while back on the WC board by Meltzer, which is why I thought otherwise:
  23. That Survivor Series 1997 was set to be Bret's last match with the company.
  24. He was feuding late 1996 and in early 1997 with Bulldog, so I always thought that might have been his match. The way I see it: HBK vs. Hart Undertaker vs. Sid Austin vs. Bulldog 6-man streetfight Rock vs. Owen Goldust vs. HHH Vader/Mankind vs. Furnas/Lafon Something like that.
  25. Thought I'd start a non-spoiler thread for those of you who ask for this type of thing...here's what you can expect to see on Smackdown: Velocity: 1) Bashams vs. Scotty 2 Hotty and Shannon Moore 2) Akio/Kidman vs. Nunzio/Funaki 3) Orlando Jordan vs. Charlie Haas Smackdown: 1) Kurt Angle invitational 2) Paul London vs. Chavo Guerrero 3) MNM vs. Eddie/Rey 4) Matt Morgan vs. Mikey Whiplash (not Whipwreck, mind you) 5) John Cena vs. Rene Dupree 6) JBL vs. Angle vs. Big Show vs. Booker T (elimination match for #1 contendership) Plus Angle is the guest on Carlito's Cabana, more goofyness with Heidenreich, and more.
