  1. I remember him just showing up on Heat for a week or two and squashing people. Then he appeared on RAW and danced with Too Cool and the rest is history.

    WCW US Title Tournament

He won the title by a count out in a tourney final?
  3. I actually have never seen this match - though I want to. Does it have the typical "Hulk up, punches, big boot, leg drop" finish to it?

    Mountie's IC title reign

Off Cawthon's awesome site: The Mountie pinned WWF IC Champion Bret Hart to win the title by reversing an inside cradle; after the bout, Roddy Piper made the save after the Mountie repeatedly hit Hart with the title belt; the kayfabed reason for Hart's title loss was a high fever, but it actually came about due to contract negotiations. Can you elaborate exactly what the situation was? Thanks!

WWE News from the 2/23 Observer

HBK has a torn ACL? There's no way they can put the title on him at WM...can they?
  6. Basically. Savage became somewhat of a tweener (leaning towards face) color guy beginning shortly after the PPV. Jake had nothing to do with anything at that point. So did he want to take time off, or was it Vince's idea to make him an announcer? I assume he then decided he wanted to come back, so they came up with the wedding and the Jake heel turn.
  7. Everyone says tag team wrestling is/has been on the decline for a while now...so if you had to pick a year/time period in the WWF where you think the tag team division was at its best, what/when would you pick and why?
  8. I always wonder what would happen if the Berserker was still around today. I bet "HUSS~!" would be crazy over with the crowd. Hell, I'd gladly rock a "HUSS" t-shirt. As for short-lived characters...Techno Team 2000, Salvatore Sincere, Jean Pierre Lafite (I liked him though). Yep, just gotta give Jimmy HUSS~! Jacobs a shot in the Crusier division. I liked Lafitte a lot too. He had great matches with Bret and Taker that I remember seeing. Gotta love Hakushi, too, though he lasted about a year in the WWF. I always wished they pushed him more. Also enjoyed Hakushi's work a lot in the WWF. He got a nice push as a heel and then as soon as they turned him face, they jobbed him out. Never understood why. Ditto. Vince just doesn't like those foreigners, I guess. Hakushi was monster over as a heel, though. He had a unique style and look, pulled off some unbelievable matches, had a good gimmick, etc. I would have pushed him to the moon, but I'm not Vince.
  9. Always wanted to see a Friar vs Undertaker Feud... Good vs EVIL! I always suggested to my friends at the time that Taker should team with IRS and form Death and Taxes. Okay, so you'd have to be an idiot to put Taker in the tag team division, but the name is cool!

    Best tag team wrestling era

Think about how bad it was in 1996 - Godwinns, Smokin Gunns (at least they were decent), Bodydonnas, New Rockers...uggh. At least there was Bulldog and Owen.
  11. At least it killed Paul Roma's career. -=Mike Too bad it took a boring 15 minute match to do so. I've never seen anything from 1995 WCW except for Fall Brawl and Halloween Havoc. Those were the best shows, supposedly...and they weren't great by any means. I wouldn't mind watching Vader no sell for Hogan, though.

    Mountie's IC title reign

They were under contract until Fall 1992. So No. So then why did they drop the tag team titles then instead of just doing it at Wrestlemania?
  13. I always wonder what would happen if the Berserker was still around today. I bet "HUSS~!" would be crazy over with the crowd. Hell, I'd gladly rock a "HUSS" t-shirt. 14. What was the deal with the Savage/Elizabeth thing after the Savage/Warrior retirement match at WM7? Was it just something to send Savage out a good guy, or did he just want to take some time off and they already were planting the seeds to the Jake the Snake feud that would come later? Or did he decide later that he wanted to wrestle again?
  15. He wasn't _too_ short lived, but I always loved the Berzerker. I thought he was going to get a big feud with Taker after that match where he tried to stab him with his sword and piledrove him on the floor, but alas, it never happened... Always loved Skinner too. He had a great match with Bret at Tuesday in Texas for the IC title. This is a great Wrestlecrap thread.

    Mountie's IC title reign

Was this the same reason that LOD dropped the tag titles around the same time to Money Inc?

    Austin loses to jobbers

Jason Arndt & Eddie Jackie defeated Steve Austin in a handicap match after Davey Boy Smith interfered Can anyone tell me the story behind this match? And was Austin vs. Bulldog the original Wrestlemania 13 plan (since HBK vs. Bret was planned at the time)?

    Ted DiBiase

My friend swears that there was once a Money Inc tag team match where the Million Dollar Man got aroused during the match and had to try and hide his boner for the duration. I can't believe this is actually true...someone please tell me he's full of shit?
  19. Why did Bossman beat Nailz at Survivor Series 92 when Bossman was leaving the WWF a few months later and Nailz was about to be put into a big feud with Undertaker?

    Dream feuds that never happened

Flair tried to get the title off of Savage, not himself...my bad!

    Vince as announcer

I watched IYH Buried Alive last night. JR gets in the ring and cuts a heelish promo on Vince, and then tosses the mic at him and leaves. Vince catches it, grins at the camera, and says, "Nice catch, Vince!" Which brings up...what was the deal with heelish JR in late 96?

    Vince as announcer

I was watching the 96 Royal Rumble, with Vince and Mr. Perfect doing commentary tonight. I got a few laughs at things they said: Perfect: Who's that? Vince: That's Doug Gilbert! Perfect (suddenly excited) All right! Vince: It's Aldo Montoya! Perfect: He's got the jock on the wrong part of his face! Vince: I don't know about that... Anyways, what are some of the stupid things that Vince said as announcer that you remember? I always remember him calling an inverted atomic drop a backwards piledriver, and his ONETWOTHREEHEGOTHIMNOHEDIDN'T! Anything you remember?

    Austin loses to jobbers

I don't think they did...that was obviously the Wrestlemania plan by how they built things at the It's Time and the 97 Royal Rumble...so I guess the original WM13 card looked like: HBK vs. Bret Taker vs. Sid Austin vs. Bulldog Oh well, at least we got the ***** submission match.
  24. This has probably been answered a million times before, but why/when did Mr. Perfect leave the WWF in 1993 after Summerslam? And why did he come back to screw over Luger at WM10 and then disappear again after that? And why did he return again in 95/96?
  25. JoeDirt

    Austin loses to jobbers

I should add that this match was from 12/29/96.
