This belongs on Jay Leno's "We found this on Ebay" segment. Funny stuff.

Since there's no Heat thread, I'll add this here.... Val carrying Snitsky to a decent match is amazing. Val pulls out good matches from SO many guys...hell, he had really good matches with TEST! The guy works well with almost anybody. It's too bad he's just jobber fodder.

I predict: Batista Cena HBK Edge Christy Eddie Then the other matches: Big Show/Akebono: I see something happening like the Bashams coming out and the two big guys beating them up to save face. Don't know who will win the sumo part, but it wouldn't make much sense just to have Big Show lose and then that be it. Orton/Taker: Two booking choices: One, Orton wins and Taker destroys him after the match, setting him up for surgery. Two, Taker wins in a brutal match, letting Orton go for his shoulder surgery. I'm 50-50 on this, but I'll go with Taker in a coin flip. Piper's Pit: Hassan, Hogan, sleepers, stunners. Should be fun.

When was the decision made to go with HBK vs. Razor in a ladder match at Summerslam 1995 made? Wasn't the original match plan HBK vs. Sid for the IC title? Were there ever any plans of putting the IC title on Sid?

I don't think the average pro wrestling fan cares about wrestling as much as they do entertainment. Though you think Wrestlemania would be where all the hardcore wrestling marks would show up, especially with an ironman match between two smark darlings.

I saw that RAW not too long ago. Not a good show, but for the time HHH vs. Edge wasn't a bad little RAW match, and the crowd was CRAZY for Austin vs. Rock. At that point was an Austin vs. Rock match at Mania already set in stone?

I say bring in back in 2006. Keep the PPV schedule as is now, just put KOTR where the ECW PPV is this year. I really don't see how one more joint-brand PPV could hurt, especially one with history like King of the Ring. Arguments like "well, it's been bad in the past" simply don't work for me. Why not bring in back in June 2006? Just do a final four on the PPV, leaving room for plenty of other matches to draw buys. Also, doing a tournament on TV makes for easy booking and tying together of angles. Seems like a good idea to me.

It's really crazy how varied the opinion on this match is. There aren't many matches which have so many completely different viewpoints.

So they must have had SOME plans for Hogan as a heel post-Mania that got changed... Maybe still HHH vs. Hogan?
-
Wow, great writeup guys. I haven't had a chance to get any PWG shows since Secret of the Ooze. Which are the top shows since then to pick up?
-
Anyone know some more long term plans for the nWo before Hogan got over huge at Mania and they turned him face?
-
Who won the last match?

What led to Vince bringing in Hall, Nash, and Hogan in 2002? Panic at slipping ratings?

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just add to this one. How are these DVDs? WWF Rebellion 2001? (Heard its really good, got it really cheap, already bought it) WWF Hardcore WWF No Way Out 2002 (any extras on this?) Any of the Stone Cold DVDs Any other older DVDs that you can find cheap worth picking up?
-
They should bring back KOTR in June of 2006 (taking the spot the ECW PPV has this year) and have a RAW vs. SD final.

Spike was outta position on the 450, almost got himself hurt.

Yes, it was on March 26, 2001 that the wrestling world changed as the final WCW Nitro aired. In honor of this day I thought I'd start a thread where people could mention their favorite moments from WCW Nitro (since we usually bash WCW) from 1995-2001, whether it be matches, segments, announcers comments, or whatever. I'll start by mentioning a Nitro from 1997 during the DDP/Savage feud. Savage is wrestling La Parka when BANG! Diamond cutter by La Parka! La Parka takes off his mask to reveal DDP. Schiavone: THAT'S NOT LA PARKA! And DDP gets the three count. Crazy stuff building to their Bash at the Beach tag match. It's always been a personal favorite Nitro moment of mine. Yours?

I thought Bret said his match with Bulldog at Summerslam was his best ever? (Didn't he even say it was the best match by anyone ever? Or am I imagining things?)

Looking over old GAB cards, I saw this: The Great American Bash 1987 July 4, 1987 in Atlanta, GA The Omni drawing 13,500 ($250,000) 1. Kendall Windham pinned Gladiator #1 (Gary Royal) (4:59). 2. Sting pinned Thunderfoot #1 (Joel Deaton) (5:40). 3. Lazertron pinned MOD Squad Spike (7:00). 4. Jimmy Valiant pinned MOD Squad Basher (5:10). 5. UWF Western States Champ Barry Windham pinned Rick Steiner (5:00). 6. Ronnie & Jimmy Garvin beat Vladimir Petrov & The Barbarian (6:00) when Ronnie pinned Barbarian. 7. UWF Tag Champs Tim Horner & Brad Armstrong beat Angel of Death and Bubba Rogers (6:00) when Horner pinned Angel. 8. Chris Adams beat Black Bart (4:35) via DQ. 9. The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes, Gordy, & Roberts) beat Ivan Koloff, Manny Fernandez, & Paul Jones (3:58) when Gordy pinned Jones. 10. NWA Tag Champs The Rock-n-Roll Express beat The Midnight Express (Eaton & Lane) (4:00) via DQ. 11. Steve Williams beat Dick Murdoch (8:00) in a "Texas death" match. 12. The Road Warriors, Nikita Koloff, Dusty Rhodes, & Paul Ellering beat The Four Horsemen (Flair, Arn, Luger, Blanchard, & Dillon) (26:00) in a "wargames" match when Dillon submitted to the Road Warriors. What was the deal with all the short matches? The tag title match going four minutes and ending in DQ? WTF?

Hulk Hogan and numerous WCW PPVs in 1995-1999. This thread is awesome, BTW.

I might add CZW Best of the Best 4 and PWG 88 Miles Per Hour, but that's about all I've got.

Any ideas for Angle's shtick next week?

Is Great American Bash 1990 a good show at all? # Doug Furnas pinned Dutch Mantel (11:18). # Mike Rotunda pinned The Iron Sheik (6:46). # Brian Pillman pinned Buddy Landell (9:29). # NWA Tag Champs Doom beat The Rock-n-Roll Express (15:40) when Reed pinned Gibson. # Paul Orndorff, Junkyard Dog, & El Gigante beat Sid Vicious, Arn Anderson, & Barry Windham (8:53) via DQ. # Harley Race pinned Tommy Rich (6:32). # Big Van Vader pinned Tom Zenk (2:16). # Rick & Scott Steiner beat The Freebirds (Garvin & Hayes) (13:45) when Scott pinned Hayes. # NWA U.S. Tag Champs The Midnight Express (Eaton & Lane) beat Tracey Smothers & Steve Armstrong (18:14) when Eaton pinned Smothers. # NWA U.S. Champ Lex Luger pinned Mark Callous (12:10). # Sting pinned Ric Flair (16:06) to win the NWA World Title. And what was the storyline in the Luger/Mean Mark match?

Nothing's great, though I enjoyed the tag team opener (Henry/D'Lo vs. Kane/Xpac) and there's some okay stuff after the whole incident (Rock/HHH, 8-man elimination). Nothing amazing though, as you might expect.
