    I'm going to Smackdown.

"Heidenreich = undead frozen Nazi" "Kidman disappears at random" "FU = Just a Fireman's Carry" Eh, they suck, but it's all good. I like your Paul London idea.

Vermont is my first round upset pick. I don't know why, but I picked 'em.

    A New "What If"

What if... Lex Luger had been put over Yokozuna strong and clean for the WWF title at Summerslam 1993 instead of the count out finish? Vince McMahon decided to go with a DQ finish in the SS97 match, never screwed Bret, and allowed Bret to do a retirement speech the next night on RAW? HHH had won the King of the Ring in 1996 instead of Steve Austin?
  4. What led to Russo being brought back in April of 2000? If they hadn't brought him back, what did Kevin Sullivan have planned? (Those few months with him booking were just AWFUL) Before Nash got on the WCW booking team, was anyone else (or Nash) planned far in advance to be the guy who ended Goldberg's streak? We always talk about guys in WCW who should have been pushed but weren't...was there anyone that management really wanted to give a push to but for some reason it just didn't work out? (Aside from the obvious Renegade, I suppose)

    Who said it?

all 3 of these are by the same guy, but have to be posted for their sheer fucked up-ness. "But the date is set, this Sunday at Greed, and you're gonna notice the day of that the weather's gonna change, because the pendulum on which the earth rotates on is gonna be on a 51 degree axis, I'm gonna have the sun to my right, the dark side of the moon to my left, and I'm gonna come at you with a vengeance, and I'm gonna eclipse your ass. " "Now Ric Flair, you've been in this business a long time, and you have seen a lot of white trash, and a lot of jabronis, so when Diamond Dallas Page comes out here and says 'self high five,' do your job - send him back down to the bush leagues where he belongs! When he comes out here and says 'badda-boom, badda-bing, badda-bang...' I don't even know what the hell that means - send him back down to the bush leagues, because he's proof you can take somebody out of the trailer park, but he'll always be...white trash. " "Booker T, at Mayhem, I'm gon' look at you, and I'm gon' look at the whole world, and I'm gonna say Vinny, Viddy, Voochy. And I know that's not in your Ebonics handbook, and I know none of these white trash know what it means, but at Fall--- at-- at Mayhem, I'm gonna give you the same thing I gave Sting... " THE BIG BAD BOOTY DADDY~!~!~! "We're going to finish this...one way...(suddenly yells)...OR ANOTHER!"

    Another "build a card" thread

    Wow, talk about overbooking.
  7. JoeDirt

    Who said it?

    Kevin Nash? Haha, of course!
  8. Yeah, that second house show card from 1995 is horrible. Lex Luger vs. Tatanka as the main event, ugggh.
  9. Oh, I forgot about my friend who told me he knew the Rock would win at Wrestlemania 15 because he read on the internet that they taped Wrestlemania in advance and that he beat Austin. I have no idea where that came from.
  10. JoeDirt

    Who said it?

Yeah, that was an easy one. But I had to put it in there.
  11. JoeDirt

    Who said it?

Cactus Jack, I think. You are correct sir. Here are some more, some easy: "What are you? A Bobby Heenan cartoonish heel color commentator?" "Hey, Jerry! Remember back in '86, in Memphis? You told me to no sell the piledriver, and I did! That was fun..." "She kicked him in the thing!" "Kurt Angle is Picasso. Triple H is a finger painter." "Bill Goldberg...a bald-headed man with a tattoo...who only has one loss...to the great warrior Kevin Nash...standing in the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field...Sid Vicious...6 foot ten, 290! No, 315! No, 350! No...FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY SEVEN POUNDS!"
  12. -Me trying to convince my friends that there were NOT three Ultimate Warriors. -My friend trying to convince me that Goldberg/Nash from Starrcade was the best match in the history of wrestling. And he was serious. -My friend saying "I stopped watching WCW when Rey Misterio pinned Kevin Nash. Like that would ever happen in real life." -Trying to convince someone that wrestling wasn't lame right before the Demon vs. Sting match from Bash at the Beach 2000 came on.
  13. Watching my Summerslam 2000 DVD again the other night, I remembered how great the Tazz/Lawler feud was heading into the show. The match wasn't good, and I don't remember what they did between Summerslam and the rematch at Unforgiven, but the stuff leading into Summerslam was gold, with King sticking up for JR, Tazz blasting Lawler's rental car with JR in the passenger seat, busting Lawler open at the announce table, etc. Any other examples of short but fun feuds?
  14. Another random topic since I'm bored...what is your favorite Survivor Series elimination match ever done and why? I'm not completely sure on mine yet. But I know I love the opener from Survivor Series 1995, the match with Bret and Dibiase as the last two from 1990, and the Flair PPV debut in 1991 is a lot of fun too. How about you?
  15. 1) Was there any build for Hogan vs. Taker at Survivor Series 1991 other than Taker being announced as the challenger on Superstars and then the one segment with Hogan and Flair and company on the Funeral Parlor? 2) When was Jesse Ventura an active wrestler for the WWF? When did he first start to commentate? As a wrestler, what was his finishing move? 3) What was the buildup (if any) for Dibiase vs. Snuka at Summerslam 1989? 4) Ditto for Brainbusters vs. Hart Foundation. 5) Ditto for Demolition vs. Hart Foundation from Summerslam 1988. 6) Ditto for Steamboat vs. Hercules at Wrestlemania 2. 7) Ditto for Jake vs. Welles at Wrestlemania 2. 8) Ditto for Steamboat vs. Rude at Royal Rumble 1988. Thanks!

(via count out, of course) 1987's house show has an interesting 6-man tag team main event. Man, that second 1995 house show looks BRUTAL. The 1996 MSG show here was used in main angles at the time, especially Diesel hitting HBK with the chair, which was shown a lot in the buildup to the April IYH match between the two. 1997 has the RAW episode with Bret saying "this is bullshit" on live TV, so that's pretty cool. 1998 has Austin vs. Rock in one of their early matches. I've never seen this, is it any good? They always seemed to have good chemistry. 2002 of course has Wrestlemania 18 on this date.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

What was the first PPV that the WWF did a pre show video package for? I'm thinking Survivor Series 1995, did they do any before that? What was planned for the Invasion angle before they changed everything on that one memorable episode of RAW? Clearly they were building to a champion vs. champion match with a heel Austin and a babyface Booker T. Anything else?
  18. JoeDirt

    Favorite hidden gem matches

I don't think it ever made TV, but Steiners vs. Hart Foundation from the Wrestlefest 94 tape is a GREAT babyface vs. babyface tag team match. The 123 Kid/Razor vs. Shawn/Diesel match from the Slamfest tape is a great match from Superstars that is a pretty famous battle of the Clique. But if you've never seen it before, it's definitely worth checking out. Waltman is friggin' AMAZING in that match. I ran across some really good RAW matches from 1996 when I was watching a bunch of old RAWs I had never seen. Steve Austin vs. Taker was solid, Shawn Michaels vs. Marty Jannetty for the title was very good, and Undertaker vs. Mankind no holds barred a few weeks after Survivor Series is a great little brawl that you never hear mentioned.
  19. I'm almost positive the first motion graphics were for Unforgiven 2001. I remember it for the Jericho/RVD match.
  20. Just found this quick summary, hopefully we get more complete spoilers soon. "-Angle d. Jannetty in a really fun match, not a squash at all. Angle wins clean with the Ankle Lock after Jannetty had escaped it a bunch of times. Huge chants for Marty and he was over big with the crowd. -Booker T faced Luther Reigns. Don't remember who won, but afterwards Heidenreich did a promo saying that Booker had inspired him to be more ethnic, and did an Akeem-esque promo. -London d. Kidman with the 450. -Big Show interview about Akebono. -Contract signing time. Bischoff is with Orton. Orton says he isn't afraid of Taker, but Taker starts up the spooky pyro, Orton gets scared, and runs off. Cena/Eddie/Rey d. JBL/Bashams. The angle during the show was that Cena would lose his title shot at Mania if he touched JBL any time other than in the match. After the match, Cena laid out both Bashams with chair shots." Hopefully we get more info soon.

    Who said it?

"If I had to fight me, I wouldn't show up either." "Last night this girl came knocking on my door at midnight. Finally, I let her out." "The only bones you're fit to chew on are Past-Your-Prime Ribs." Enjoy.
  22. So did Piper ever get a major televised title match with Hogan when he was a heel during this time?
  23. I'll bump this with this match: WWF @ Houston, TX - Sam Houston Coliseum - June 7, 1987 The One Man Gang defeated Ted Dibiase after Ron Bass interfered **Dibiase losing to OMG before his return as the Million Dollar Man? I'm guessing he was working babyface here? I just thought it was kind of weird.
  24. 1) When did Bret Hart start to use the Sharpshooter? 2) How did Piper and Savage turn babyface after WM2 and 3 respectively? 3) I know Dan Spivey was in the WWF around 86/87...did he ever get any sort of push? Was he babyface or heel? 4) How was Sid introduced in 1991 and brought in as the special ref at Summerslam? 5) What was Sid's fight with Arn Anderson over?
  25. Here are a few questions for those who know: 1) Why did Arn and Tully leave the WWF in 1989? 2) When the Colossal Connection beat Demolition for the tag straps in 1989 so that Demolition could win them back at WM6, how did the title change happen? Did the heels cheat to beat Demolition? 3) When/how/why turn Demolition heel in 1990? 4) When the Rockers beat the Hart Foundation for the tag team titles, but then had the decision reversed, who was in contract negotiations with WWF at the time? Neidhart? 5) Why did LOD leave and then return in late 91/early 92? 6) Why did the Steiners leave the WWF after only a year? 7) Kerry Von Erich as IC champ...why? How did Mr. Perfect win the belt back from him? 8) When Bret dropped the IC title before the 92 Rumble, were they that worried about contract negotiations? Did he almost jump to WCW?
