    Best Wrestling Quotes...

Tajiri and Christian are arguing over who loves Vince the most, to get his endorsement for Taboo Tuesday. It soon becomes a "Who can hug Vince the best" contest. Vince: Alright, now you're just acting like children! Christian: Children, who I believe, are the future! Vince: Would you shut the hell up!?

    Smackdown spoilers for 1/13/05

"As we reported yesterday in the Elite section of PWInsider.com, Ring of Honor regular Roderick Strong was said to have really impressed WWE management after working a segment with Kurt Angle that will air on tonight's Smackdown. The crowd was said to have been into Strong's work during the Kurt Angle Classic. Beyond ROH, Strong works for Jersey All Pro and a number of Florida indy groups." Credit: PWInsider.com

Also, wouldn't they sometimes try out a heel turn and then scrap it if the audience didn't react to it that well? I shouldn't have put Candido in the match, but other than that I don't think it's a big deal. Besides, it's just fantasy booking.
  4. "The Tag World Grand Prix 2005 is coming! This tag team tournament will be unlike anything the independents have seen before - in fact, with 24 teams, this is the biggest tag tournament since the 1987 Jim Crockett Cup! The Tag World Grand Prix is so big, one night cannot contain it. So join us in Reading, PA at the Riverside Beneficial Assoc. for Night 1 of the tournament, and then the very next night, the tournament concludes at Emmaus Fire Co. in Emmaus, PA. Over the course of the following weeks, we're going to be announcing all 24 teams appearing at the Tag World Grand Prix. Wrestlers from other promotions, other states, and even other countries will be part of our massive tournament! This week, we're pleased to announce the following duos are confirmed for the Tag World Grand Prix:" Death Match Kings (Madman Pondo & Necro Butcher) ROH trainees (Davey Andrews and Matt Turner) The SuperFriends (Chris Hero & "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush) The Wild Cards (Eddie Kingston & Jack Marciano) CKNY (Cory Kastle & Niles Young) Arik Cannon & Claudio Castagnoli F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma & Icarus) Team MPW (Version 2.0 & Darin Corbin) Crossbones & Mano Metalico Big Daddy (Shirley Doe & Darkness Crabtree) Men@Work (Mister ZERO & Shane Storm) Team IWS (El Generico & Kevin Steen) Ring Crew Express (Dunn & Marcos) Dark Breed (Hallowicked & UltraMantis Black) Knight Eye for the Pirate Guy (Lance Steel & Jolly Roger) Team Toryumon X (Skayde & Milanito Collection AT) Larry Sweeney & Share Cropper Jigsaw & Sabian --Plus six more teams to be addded. This should be AWESOME. The shows will be 2/18 and 2/19.

Wow, I didn't know my little house show booking would stir up so much controversy. The WWE tests out heel turns at house shows all the time. This wouldn't be the actual turn, but just a "test" of it to see how it plays out. Then the real turn is executed on TV. I don't see it being THAT far fetched.

New tag team signs with WWE

Vito from BetweenTheRopes said tonight he's wrestled these guys a lot and they're ready to go, down at the 270 range, in great shape, etc. He said that they are going on the road immediately, and that the three year deal they signed with the WWE is a VERY nice deal. So apparently Vince and company really like these guys.

  9. I thought this was interesting, and that you guys might like to see it. It's in a topic about the Bruiser Brody/Lex Luger cage match where Brody refused to sell for Luger. Also, the topic of Brody's murder came up, and Dave addresses that too: "As far as Brody and Gonzalez is concerned. The bathroom they were in had a plexiglass wall. There were at least seven people who saw it, four of whom I have spoken with, all with the same story. Jose started stabbing. There was no first move by Brody. Two gave statements to the police. The other two knew the score on the island. I received letters from another witness that I passed on to Barbara Goodish with very detailed explanations of what they saw and why they couldn't testify. As far as Jose's motives, in the last few years he has spoken openly to many people about it. There are no secrets. He has admitted doing it. No such thing as double jeopardy. He blamed it on Brody not selling for him in a Nassau Coliseum match in the 70s (Gonzalez was an underneath guy, Brody was programmed as a top heel at the time) and that it had been building up inside of him for many years. He wasn't trying to kill him, but wanted to get his respect back. A deal where Brody didn't sell for his tag champs was part of it, but Gonzalez understood that was business because of the Japanese photographers there, but he also felt it hurt his company's business. Regarding Luger, it was no rib. They had breakfast the morning of the show. They had worked the night before and there were minor problems. Luger said he wouldn't put Brody over in the cage or the rest of the week and Matsuda was furious since Luger was leaving in a few days. Ironic story. Luger was bragging to Brody how much he had signed with Crockett for and why he can't put anyone over and Brody was just looking to scare him, and he climbed out. He left the building, no showed the next few dates. Matsuda in the dressing room was loving every minute of him. He told Ron Simmons and I think Dewey Forte that this is what happens when a football player thinks he can mess with a trained wrestler. I know, not that Brody was a trained wrestler or Luger was much of a football player."

That's a pretty long grudge for the guy to hold...like over 10 years.

Young unheard of upstart beats better known wrestler in an upset. Heel beats him down and acts like a dick, foreshadowing an upcoming heel turn to come on television. Plus, gives off the "anything can happen in the WWF" feeling.

Not only were the participants technically not part of the WWF Roster, but the result looks way too Attitude influenced. A good guy clown turning evil and ripping a womans clothes off? This isn't 1999 you know... For shame on you... My Card (That Sucks)... - World Champion Diesel def. IC Champion Jeff Jarrett. Only the World Title was defended. - Lex Luger def. Tatanka in a Steel Cage Match. - Shawn Michaels def. Davey Boy Smith with the help of Sid. - Tag Team Champions The Smoking Gunns def. Well Dunn - Bam Bam Bigelow def. Bob Holly - Hakushi def. Aldo Montoya - 1-2-3 Kid & Razor Ramon def. the Blu Brothers - Jimmy Delray def. Doink The Clown Gotta boost house show business somehow, baby! Screw the kids and families in attendance, Sunny's clothes are coming off!

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

I doubt that Tazz one mentioned above...but I read that rumors online said that Taker would be brought back in all white, like a Mordecai type thing, and that Jake Roberts would be involved in "saving Taker's soul" or something stupid like that...thankfully, they decided to scrap the whole thing the next night and just forget it, and Taker stayed basically as he was. I never heard about Val joining DX, but I did hear that they messed around at house shows and had Test wear DX shirts a few times, but never had him join.

Here's mine: 1) Undertaker won a 20-man battle royal at 9:00 to earn a shot later at the WWF title. 2) Chris Candido w/ Sunny d. Doink the Clown at 11:41 with a superplex. After the match, Doink turned back into evil clown Doink, and beat down Candido and ripped Sunny's clothes off. 3) Jeff Jarrett d. Bob Holly at 9:14 with an inside cradle to retain the WWF IC title 4) Lex Luger and British Bulldog d. Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka at 6:45 when Bulldog hit the running powerslam on Tatanka 5) Shawn Michaels and Hakushi d. Razor Ramon and 123 Kid at 15:32 when HBK pinned Kid with the superkick. 6) Smoking Gunns d. Heavenly Bodies at 9:19 with the Sidewinder to retain the WWF tag team titles. 7) Diesel and Undertaker go to no contest in the WWF title match at 12:14 when the Million Dollar Corporation and Shawn Michaels all interfered. 8) Bret Hart d. Owen Hart in a steel cage match at 21:40

    Eddy/JBL 2004 MOTY

I can buy this as being the WWE MOTY. It's one match I got into a lot, and didn't think I would at all going in. But without Eddy's bladejob, I agree that it wouldn't be very memorable. I don't remember a lot from the first half of the match, just Bradshaw hitting a fallaway slam on the announce table. Good match, one I'd like to see for a second time. I never did see their GAB match, either. I liked Brock vs. Eddie, WM main event, and JBL/Eddie this year. Not sure what I'd pick for a WWE MOTY though.
  17. Who are guys that are the most average of all time? Average ring skills, average mic skills, average in how they did during their careers, average crowd receptions...who is/are the averagest of them all?

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

Taker as Big Show's father??? That reminds me of another question. When Rock and Sock beat Big Show/Taker for the tag titles on RAW in 1999, Paul Bearer came to the ring and whispered something in Taker's ear, and Taker walked off and left. They never went any further with that...was this just a way to keep an injured Taker out of action, or was an angle planned?

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

IIRC that was a tease to his religious preacher gimmick where he started showing up in the crowd with "REPENT" signs and shit like that? That was 98 right? That was in 98, but what I'm talking about happened right after WM15 in 1999, a month or two before he left for WCW.
