    Smackdown Non-Spoilers

The lats match listed was just a dark match I'm sure. Here are the real listings: -Benoit vs. Jordan - If Jordan taps to the crossface he'll never wrestle again, for the US title -Crazy/Psychosis/LOD vs. Regal and Burchill and MNM -Peep Show with Kiebler -Booker T vs. JBL vs. Rey vs. Xtian -- said to be an excellent match -Lashley vs. Nunzio -Eddy vs. Randy Orton -- said to be a pretty good match

I can't see Burchill losing already...especially to someone like Crazy or Psychosis...

The one and only backlash thread

BUMP! Old PPV threads are always fun to bump. Especially when HHH/Hogan was your main event. This show was the start of a very depressing time in the company for me. They had some okay things going on here and there, but the general direction was bad. Anyways...thoughts? Comments? Making fun of old posts?

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

That WWF Radio that was at RR94...was that picked up by actual stations around the country? How did that work? Have ref bumps always been around in the WWF? If not, when did they start?

    The No Mercy '05 Thread

I wonder if Taker got the finish of the SD match against Orton changed because he was losing here. Taker winning that match didn't make any sense with the story they were telling. "I scared you with a vision or your own dead selt, Taker...and then you STILL beat me!" A DQ finish and beatdown as Taker was distracted would have made more sense. Anyways, that's my hunch.

    The No Mercy '05 Thread

Of course nobody expects him to win. It's just supposed to be a fun, comedic win for Lashley that puts him over huge as a monster babyface. I don't see that being a big problem, especially since I doubt it goes more than five minutes. I'm more offended by the horrific buildup to the main matches on this show. Just terrible, terrible stuff. And I reiterate my claim that we'll see a Dusty finish in the main event.
  7. It's easier to do vignettes for heels because heels can have more character initially because they're allowed to be cocky, dicks, pompous, annoying, etc. Babyfaces tend to be bland (obvious exceptions of course) unless they're given something to fight for...they were wronged in some way or whatever. Just a thought. But I think vignettes could be used more effectively, for sure.

    Eddie/Batista

I think we see a Dusty finish at NM. Makes sense, especially with Dusty actually booking SD now, or helping to book it or whatever. Anyways, they just did the main event DQ finish last month with Cena/Angle, so I wouldn't expect to see that. Rematches are scheduled for them. I see Eddie cheating, frog splash, pin, Teddy comes out and restarts the match, Batista gets the pin. On Smackdown, Teddy and Palmer Cannon argue about his decision to restart the match, a rematch is scheduled for Survivor Series.
  9. Title says it all... I predict a cage match so neither guy has to get pinne.d

Well, Taker's usual break from SS - Mania seems about right here.

    Austin/Hogan...how do you book this?

To the average fan, what transpired during Hulk Hogan's promo on RAW Homecoming would imply that a match between Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan was confirmed. That is not the case. In fact, according to sources, Steve Austin had absolutely no idea WWE would run the tease on last night's show. While Hulk Hogan is said to be enthusiastic about working said money match, Steve Austin, who is not a fan of Hogan, is not excited by the prospect. Many believe that even if the two sides did come to terms, determining an outcome would be an extremely large hurdle, as neither has any interest in losing. Adding to the difficulty is the fact that Steve Austin's head is not nearly as consumed by wrestling as it once was. Sources say that Steve Austin simply worked his angle and left last night, hardly showing passion in participating in WWE's product. For the past few years, the prospect of Austin vs. Hogan has been an ongoing wrestling message board discussion topic. And, while many believe it inevitably will happen, one should not take last night's RAW angle as "proof" of it being on the cards. --PWT

    Austin/Hogan...how do you book this?

I'm thinking Hogan gets hit with the stunner, kicks out, hulks up, hits the leg drop, and then they do an angle where he broke his leg or something like that (which Austin can work over earlier in the match). He covers slowly, Austin kicks out. Hogan fights one legged and Austin hits him with about tweleve stunners and finally keeps him down for three. That's the best I can think of that actually has a chance of happening.
  13. Was there a prominent three way dance in any major wrestling promotion before the Funk/Douglas/Sabu one from ECW?
  14. I am trying to raise some money to buy some DVDs, so I'm getting rid of some old 1st generation tapes, in good condition. The first two are rare IYH PPVs...IYH #3 with a great Bret/Lafitte match, and Good Friends Better Enemies with the AMAZING HBK/Diesel brawl. I'm also selling some MASTER tapes! I have some old Colliseum Video ones I'd like to sell...Wrestlefest 1995, Invasion of the Bodyslammers, and WWF Most Unusual Matches. All three tapes have great matches on them, especially the ****1/2 Wrestling Challenge match with Razor/123 Kid vs. HBK/Diesel from Wrestlefest that you NEED to see. That tape also has a surprisingly great Luger/Diesel match, a good 123 Kid/Yoko match, and Bret/Bulldog vs. Owen/Anvil in another great one. Other tapes for sale: -WWF RAW 9/13/99 -WWF RAW from June 2002 (night after KOTR 2002, RVD vs. Lesnar main event) -Super J Cup 1995 -Super J Cup 2000 -NWA TNA #1-4 (all on one tape) -NWA TNA #39, 4/2/03 -NWA TNA #40, 4/9/03 (Great X-Division tag team elimination match main event) If you're interested, PM me and make me an offer of how much you're willing to pay. Pretty much any reasonable offer will be accepted. First come, first serve! Shipping is $4 in the U.S, so tack that on there. I also have a comp. of Clash of the champions that I'll be putting up here soon, with some great stuff on it. Let me know if you want anything. Thanks!

    Tapes for sell...everything must go!

Just realized I have a first generation of WCW Halloween Havoc 1995, so that's up for sale too.
  16. Here are the tournament pairings for this year's TPI. The shows will feature other matches as well, including a Super Dragon match on night two, Jimmy Jacobs vs. Colt Cabana for the IWA title on night one, and Jacobs vs. Mickie Knuckles on night two. I'd imagine that the Iron Saints, the IWA tag champs, will be there as well. Anyways, here are the matchups, with quick comments from me: 1.) A.J STLYES VS TYLER BLACK: Should be a great match. Black is a young rookie who is going to be REALLY good, so Ian Rotten gave him a match with AJ on night one to show what he can do. AJ obviously goes over, but it'll be great. 2.) CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI VS AMERICAN DRAGON: One of the best first round matches. If you like funky European-style stuff, awesome submissions, mat work, etc, then you'll LOVE this. 3.) PUMA VS SKAYDE: In case you haven't heard of these guys, Puma is a young masked guy from California with great kicks. Skayde is a lucha guy who currently teaches at the Chikara school in PA. Should be really fast paced lucha-style action. 4.) ALEX SHELLEY VS MIKE QUACKENBUSH: Probably my favorite first round matchup. Shelley is awesome and for those who have never seen Quack you're missing out. More lucha action from Quack, crazy submissions and counter moves, etc. Shelley knows so many holds on the mat it's crazy. I can't wait for this one. 5.) CHRIS HERO VS RAINMAN: Hero should go over here. Rainman is decent in the ring but could be better. Should be a solid match. 6.) ARIK CANNON VS JOEY RYAN: Two guys with really similar mat-based, technical styles. Ryan is nicknamed "The Technical Wizard" and is a PWG regular in California. He is replacing Super Dragon in the tournament, who couldn't make it to night one. With their similar styles this should be good, and a match we might not see again very soon, since they're from different parts of the country. (Cannon is a midwest guy formerly from MN) 7.) MATT SYDAL VS EL GENERICO: Should be fun high flying stuff. Generico has been on fire lately and is just a joy to watch in the ring with his comedy and his actual work. Sydal is steadily improving, and likely wins here. 8.) CHRIS SABIN VS MAREK BRAVE: Brave, like Tyler Black, is another much heralded IWA rookie who has looked solid so far. Sabin probably goes over here though in what should be a solid one. 9.) JOSH ABERCROMBIE VS JAMIE NOBLE: Interesting match. Abercrombie likely wins, since Noble is booked for ROH the next night. Josh is an interesting guy in that he's an amateur guy who's great on the mat but for some reason tries to be this crazy high flyer when he really shouldn't be. The fans definitely aren't sold on him. We'll see how he does with Noble in there to hopefully ground him. 10.) TRACY SMOTHERS VS BRAD BRADLEY: Odd matchup of two guys replacing guys who pulled out (Homicide, Chris Harris). I'd say Bradley wins. 11.) BRANDON THOMASELLI VS DELIRIOUS: Thomaselli is very good but is doing a weird Ultimate Warrior gimmick now. Delirious is fantastic, one of the most underrated guys on the indy scene. His series of matches with CM Punk this year are must see. I'd say Delirious wins, as he definitely deserves it. 12.) NATE WEBB VS KEVIN STEEN: Webb is a lanky, goofy guy with a very long entrance in which he dances a lot. He's really funny. Steen is a champ in PWG and is from Canada. Others like him more than I do. He does a lot of head dropping moves. I'd say Steen wins here. Should be a great tourney...hopefully we can get results posted in here soon after the matches go down.

    WWE's Direction:

I tend to think that WWE wanting Cena on their flagship show and USA wanting Cena on RAW are the main reasons why he was moved there. I doubt they thought at all about it being taped or live, how many good workers he had around him, etc. I predict at Mania we see Hogan vs. Cena and Batista vs. Orton headline. I guess we'll have to look to the undercard for the good matches, just like this year.
  20. Now that Kerwin/Chavo has his caddy, they need to bring back the Mean Street Posse and form a stable called The Country Club.

  24. Personally, I feel like the company's had tons of ***-**** stuff, but not much above that. I'm having a real hard time picking anything for clear MOTY except Angle/Michaels I...but there HAS to be something better than that, right? Pimp your match of the 3/4 year!
