    The 'Be Michael Cole' Thread

"Oh, that John Cena is getting under the French Phenom's nerves! This sold out crowd loves it, and you can only see Cena on SMACKDOWN~!~!~!" Paul London hits a suicide dive to the floor onto Spike Dudley.
  2. I've been slightly compelled by the utter weirdness of this promotion...are any of their shows good?

Debate on the worst PPVs of all time!

A few questions/thoughts: 1) Why didn't Raven face Benoit at Starrcade 97 if that's what they had hyped? 2) Was Flair injured? He wrestled Hart the next month at Souled Out. 3) Didn't Meltzer say Nash faked a heart attack so he wouldn't have to job to Giant? Why not have Giant vs. Hall instead? And WOW...the WWF has had some bad PPVs, but did WCW have a TON of shitty ones or WHAT? 95-96 was NOT good for WCW, and neither was a lot of 98-99...
  5. Instead of doing one show a day, I thought I'd do one WWF and one WCW show a week (and sometimes an ECW show too), all within one thread. Post your thoughts on the shows. Have you seen them? Are they good or bad? Best and worst matches? Favorite moments? Other thoughts? Since I haven't seen this PPV ever, either...what was this angle?

Debate on the worst PPVs of all time!

Yeah, Barely Legal was the first, then Hardcore Heaven 97, then N2R 97 was the third ECW PPV.

Debate on the worst PPVs of all time!

I've never seen GAB 99, but wasn't DDP/Kanyon vs. Benoit/Saturn at least over **? At least on paper you'd think it would be.
  10. 11/23/91, the last Superstars before Survivor Series. You can see more at Cawthon's site: ThehistoryofWWE.com "Jake Roberts pinned Bob Werner with the DDT at the 42-second mark; after the match, Roberts goaded Randy Savage - who was doing commentary - into the ring where he trapped him in the ring ropes, assaulted him, and allowed his king cobra snake to gnaw on Savage's arm; Roberts held officials at bay until Savage, now delirious, was able to be pulled out of the ring; Miss Elizabeth and Roddy Piper came out to try to assist Savage during the segment; as a result of the incident, Roberts' snakes were banned from ringside and he and Savage were both pulled from the Survivor Series pay-per-view event"

Old school shows of the week #1

I have to say I like WM14 and Uncensored 98 a lot. Uncensored was quite good for a WCW PPV, with several good/solid matches. WM14 is one of my most-watched PPVs of all time. Nothing hits **** on the show, but there's a lot of fun stuff on it, like the main event, Kane/Taker as a guilty pleasure match, the fun mixed tag match, a tag team title match with a few okay spots, and a very solid HHH/Owen match. Just a fun show all around that is very important for obvious historical reasons as well.

    I'm looking for these now

I have a master of Bash at the Beach 1998 I want to get rid of. PM me or something.
  14. How many PPVs have been held outdoors (or in an "open air" arena)? I can think of Wrestlemania 9, Wrestlemania 19, all the WCW Road Wild shows...were all the Bash at the Beach shows outdoors? Any other shows I'm forgetting?

Angel Dust and Dixie, I believe.

    Did anyone catch Jon Stewart

I agree with that because I think he has a lot of common sense, but I think he is having too much fun doing what he's doing now to take a more serious turn towards any mainstream avenues. I'll actually go with a Bush line. A plan is more than a list of complaints. Stewart can feel free to criticize all day long. I have NO reason to believe that he'd be ANY different. -=Mike That doesn't mean that his criticizing the media for turning into political theater instead of real debate isn't right on point.

    Did anyone catch Jon Stewart

    Wow, that was great stuff.
  18. He was always pretty good on the mic. I marked out for him when he was leading the Natural Born Thrillers in WCW's dying days.

Are any of the Hustle shows good?

What's the deal with "DSE cracking down"? Are they stopping trading/selling/bootlegging of their shows or something?
  20. What will happen? They won't actually put Snitsky over...WILL THEY?
  21. No one has posted in this thread for a while, so let me say that my recent viewing was ROH's Death Before Dishonor 2 shows. The 7/23 Wisconsin show is pretty good, and the 7/24 Chicago show is FANTASTIC, maybe the best ROH show ever.

    Make a bold prediction

Loss, that was beautiful. But not bold. I feel like making a soap opera joke here, but I can't think of one. Great stuff, though.
