WWE General Discussion - December 2007
The Buzz replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
Mr. Hughes is the head trainer at WWA4 which uses the old Powerplant facilities I believe. They run shows primarily in GA I believe. -
Old school wrestlers who could have tried an MMA career

I think it's a matter of politics, a lot of people probably didn't like Vader because he was a top guy, so the pro-Orndorff story is what stuck in a lot of peoples minds. I don't doubt that it happened, but I think Vader probably did indeed end up taking Orndorff down and roughing him up a bit. -

That's a helluva angle they had for Flair, but I mean its not over yet they could still do something within their own preferences that turns out just as cool. -
I hope we get a good clean match from those two, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Big Daddy V is going to show his dominance over Punk.

Reason I posted that quote about the jokes at the end of mine was it seemed like four or five posts in a row were all Benoit jokes, and I see why people mock Benoit for it because it was a horrible thing for him to do, and he acted like a piece of shit to do such things. I just think that when you make light of it, you are in a way mocking the fact that a mother and her child were brutally murdered. I'm not trying to be the politically correct police, I was just posting my opinion on the jokes. Not my forums to moderate, and I'm not perfect either. I think by now most people know I'm just here to talk about wrestling and entertainment, not argue.

Old school wrestlers who could have tried an MMA career

Meh I've heard both sides of the story many times. Some like to end the story at Paul knocking Vader on his ass. Others add in the fact that Vader got back up and a few minutes later took Paul down to the floor. No matter which way you look at it, Vader's balance must have sucked for him to slip throwing a punch. I just think Vader with proper training and some weight loss could probably have atleast tried it. -
Wrestler of the year: John Cena, Orton, HBK, Punk fourway tie. Worst wrestler of the year: They have plenty of weak wrestlers, but I think all the big guys that are bad work their strengths enough to get by. Carlito is probably the one that wastes his talent the most. Most Improved Wrestler: John Cena and Randy Orton both had good years. Most Underachieving Wrestler: Kennedy and Carlito both dropped their stock. Best Tag Team: MVP/Hardy or Hardys Worst Tag Team: Cryme Time Best Heel: Edge or Orton Best Face: HBK Best Diva: Melina Worst Diva: Torrie Wilson Match of the Year: My favorite has been the Punk vs Morrison ECW TV(punk wins title) Worst Match of the Year: Rosie/Trump Quote of the Year: Me want title match Best Comeback: Y2J has had a pretty good comeback, HBK's surprised me the most with its timing. Not to mention he looks younger with his beard. Mark out moment of the year: I've enjoyed quite a few moments. Funniest moment of the year: Santino Marella, Austin at the Anniversary Show and Summerslam with his general goofiness. Best brand: ECW had a good streak of shows their for awhile with the Stevie/Thorne and Punk/Morrison stuff. Worst brand: SD used to be my favorite, now it's the only brand I don't watch atleast semi-regularly Best PPV/Worst PPV: Judgement Day or Vengeance for worst, One Night Stand, No Mercy, Mania for best. Best Feud: MVP/Hardy, Cena/HBK, Orton/People's heads Worst Feud: Balls Mahoney/Miz Worst Moment of the Year: Having to read horrible Benoit jokes that mock not only his death, but his family's murder. I have a sense of humor, but it's about as funny as people thinking it'd be funny to say I told you so when Steve Irwin got killed by an animal.

Great acting by Smith and the dog ...what I liked the dog. CGI on the landscapes looked great, the mood was great. The cgi on the monsters, mutants, whatever they ended up being was decent, but way too cartoony for being a live-action movie. I liked the movie enough to buy it on dvd, but I would have liked the book ending to be left alone. I think the movie ending worked fine though.

Old school wrestlers who could have tried an MMA career
The Buzz replied to a topic in General Wrestling
I know Tazz isn't as badass as his character would make some think, but he did have a pretty good Judo background, and amatuer wrestling. So I think he could have given it a go with striking training. Plus with him being as short and built like he was, he'd probably be hard to fight on the mat. -
I knew Lila and Doakes were going, but I was kind of hoping for Doakes to make it, or for his death to be mysterious in the fact that they never found his body. You know just incase they came up with a comeback later on in the show, but I have to say the season had a slowspot at the around episode 2-3, but it's picked up big time. That was one hell of a season finale.

Old school wrestlers who could have tried an MMA career

I think Bill Goldberg would have tried MMA had he not been pointed toward Pro-Wrestling. He still trains for it today even though he knows he's too old to do it. What about guys like Ernest Miller and Jerry Flynn. Didn't they have legit martial arts backgrounds? I could see Kurt Angle ending up in the UFC had he not signed with WWF when he did. Gary Albright was good with the worked shoots, and I know he had legit experience, did he ever do any real shoots? Vader with proper training seems like he could have done it even. Not saying he'd be successful, but I could see it happening with his obsession of being considered "real". -
I wanted the longer title reigns back when every reign was a month long, but I hope Orton doesn't go on to keep the belt warm for Cena.
-
Judging by the video of the fans on the first link, it doesn't matter if they do tour they still put on a damn good show.

That was on that list they let people visiting WWE.com vote on. So I think it's on their radar atleast.

Scott Hall no showed his scheduled appearances in Puerto Rico for WWC where he was scheduled to wrestle Friday in Ponce and Saturday in Caguas. Hall, along with Rico Casanova, arrived late Friday to the Island, the reason why he no showed the Ponce event. In Saturday's case, even though he was on the Island, the wrestler was too affected emotionally because of several family issues that happened this past week that have taken a toll on him. Hall wishes to let everyone know that right now he has to deal with his problems and for the time being those are more important than wrestling itself. Francisco "McGyver" Gaztambide PRWrestling.com

Is there anything Will Smith did that really flopped? Bagger Vance maybe?

Script for Impact on 1/3/08 (with working link)
The Buzz replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
Couple thoughts on that script... Why don't they try giving the guys pointers to hit during their promos, and let them decide what Kurt Angle would say, or what Brother Ray would say. How are the rookies going to get better on the microphone by having to remember lines. I actually would like to see Samoa Joe vs Kevin Nash just to see how it'd play out. -
I still think they could probably release 4-5 disc release on WCW, one hour documentary, throw in two matches of each big star; Sting, Vader, Flair, Hogan, Savage, and then throw in some of the best cruiserweight matches with guys like Malenko, Jericho, Mysterio, etc. Maybe throw in some of the late NWA from the 80s world championship wrestling stuff, and go over the the beginning and ends more, since we already got a pretty good dvd of the monday night wars. If need be package it as a buy this dvd get the monday night wars for free at places like k-mart. They haven't done a tag team dvd, but I brought up a tag team dvd I believe in the last thread. Hell, if they wanted to really milk money out of it, they could break it into volumes and release Greatest Tag Teams of the 70s, then 80s, etc. I still think they could milk another ECW oriented match dvd, include some of the ECW matches from the past and present again.

I agree, that was a helluva intro.

WWE General Discussion - December 2007
The Buzz replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
I agree with some of what you said Truthiness, but the gimmick could have worked without the suplexes. I think beyond the MMA style shooter, it was the fact that he was a little muscled up guy that looked like he could scrap, and who had some legit training in judo and amatuer wrestling. He could have gotten over still using the punch, kick offense with tamer suplexes if given more of a shot. It was the fact that he was a little guy that could beat the shit out of the big guys and keep coming at you. People liked badasses. But at the end of the day it didn't happen, and he's going to end up more famous for being a commentator then for what he did in the ring except to the fans that remember his ECW run. -
WWE General Discussion - December 2007
The Buzz replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
Even Jim Ross who has a hard on for bigger guys says Tazz could have been used/done much more in WWE. I don't think Tazz could have ever duplicated his ECW run in WWE, but the pops for his Austin confrontations alone showed that the fans wanted a reason to care about him. -
MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread
The Buzz replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I have similar views on MMA, although I do feel there are still plenty of good fighters out there that are more than one hit wonders, but I only watch the best ofs usually on Spike and random fights on youtube. I kind of liked the old stuff where you'd have the jiu jitsu vs muay thai. I'm not an expert on MMA, but if I did have to change one thing about it, it would be the standing up fighters off the ground. I think the guy on bottom should have to work his way back to his feet. -
I decided since there is talk of Bob Sapp coming to a wrestling promotion soon, I figured I'd post a little post of some of his fights and matches, even the little "confrontation" he had with Tyson. http://youtube.com/watch?v=S4bhx3uiEFM (Bob Sapp vs Kimo fight) (Sapp/Tyson confrontation) http://youtube.com/watch?v=_Wq0YdbHlxo&feature=related (Bob Sapp vs Great Muta part 1/2) (Bob Sapp vs Stefan Gamlin fight) http://youtube.com/watch?v=xur__GTteQU (Bob Sapp vs Razor Ramon Hard Gay) http://youtube.com/watch?v=GT8HHZ8cBX4&feature=related (Bob Sapp vs Ernesto Hoost fight)

WWE General Discussion - December 2007
The Buzz replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
That's the funny part of WWE too. They get on people for "pretending to be wrestlers" when they start in the company. But a lot of time the people they bring in with the same gimmick they had elsewhere end up playing parodies of themselves. -
Scott Hall I think, or maybe Nash said Sting was supposed to be the original third guy in the nWo, so I think they knew that some kind of change was coming regarding him for a few months prior to the storyline.
