  1. Sting was the face of a company virtually it's entire inception except for a period of time between 94-96 and it's last two years. Sting's merchandise sales in 1997 were second to Steve Austin only who made probably 7-8 million off of merchandise alone if I remember correctly. Kurt Angle is a bigger name only to people who don't watch wrestling and that follow amatuer wrestling, and any wrestling fan who started watching after 2001. I love Angle, but he's never really been on top of the WWE, he was always one step below the top guy or guys. Hell, when I talk to people who don't watch wrestling anymore, the casual fan is more excited that Sting is wrestling in TNA then when I bring up that Kurt Angle is there as well.

  2. While I still favor John Carpenter's Vampires as my all-time favorite vampire movie, and yes I know that that movie is one that most either love or hate. I think 30 days of night was a good balls to the wall, take no prisoners vampire flick. The graphic novel was good source material, and the movie did a good job bringing it to life.

  3. I was looking at the Lex Luger stroke thread, and as usual quite a few people shocked me with their tauntings of a man having health problems. So I decided to post a good dozen or so matches from his career to anyone that doesn't despise Luger. He was never a Hart, Flair, or even as good as his good friend Sting, but for awhile he was able to have a good match. He was never my favorite wrestler, but I do believe he deserves a better spot in everyone's mind then the guy who was next to Liz when she died, and who couldn't get a tight t-shirt off.

  4. Federal Court rules on Warrior vs. McMahon Case

It has been ruled by The United States Federal District Court of

Arizona that the complaint filed by Ultimate Creations, Inc. against

Vince McMahon; Titan Sports; and the WWE will not be dismissed and

    will go to trial.

"To survive the motion to dismiss his defamation claims, Warrior must

establish that the statements 'are reasonably capable of sustaining a

defamatory meaning,' and that the statements 'are not mere comment

within the ambit of the First Amendment.' Knievel v. ESPN, 393 F.3d

    1068, 1073-74 (9th Cir. 2005) (quotations omitted). Defendants

believe that Warrior has failed to establish either of these

requirements. The Court does not agree. After examining the totality

of the circumstances in which the Defendants statements were made,

the Court finds that Defendants allegedly made statements about

Warrior that can be reasonably interpreted as factual assertions that

may have brought him 'into disrepute, contempt, or ridicule' or

impeached his 'honesty, integrity, virtue, or reputation.'

Consequently, Warrior’s claims against Vince and Linda McMahon will

    not be dismissed."

In a statement made by Bernie J. Gernay of PSI Marketing Group whom

represents Warrior, he stated, "There is no denying the legitimacy of

this complaint, just as there's also no denying that there is the

illegitimate, choreographed world of professional wrestling and then there is

the legitimate rule of law in the real world. Warrior lives in the

real world. WWE and the McMahons apparently do not. Warrior has made

another successful, 'constructive,' not 'self-destructive,' life

outside his former successes creating and performing the one-of-a-

kind Ultimate Warrior character. The McMahons seem to have problems

with that, both acknowledging it and letting it go. They can run

their company any way they wish to, but they have no right to discredit

the integrity or try to ruin the life of any former talent who

chooses to no longer be a part of their entertainment act, let alone

do so as they have outrageously seen fit to do in this instance,

through a film project that both defames my client and obscenely

profit. They can script their characters in provocative storylines

where common sense, decency and justice may never prevail, but none

of that will play very well inside a real court room in the real

world before a jury of real people. My client looks forward to that

    day."

    Good for him.

  5. New MMA Organization Cage Fighting Championships, Inc. (CFC) Offers $3 Million Purse for Randy Couture VS Fedor Emelianenko

Monday October 15, 1:45 pm ET

DAVIE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Cage Fighting Championships (CFC) Spokesperson Crawford Grimsley announced today, "The CFC will put up a $3,000,000 purse to bring the Couture vs Emelianenko fight to Pay-Per-View. $1,000,000 will be guaranteed to each fighter while the winner takes home an additional cool million, making this the largest single purse for any one MMA fight."

Grimsley, a former heavyweight boxer who went 12 rounds with big George Foreman for the world title in 1996 said, "I don't know who set up the current MMA system of sanctioning bodies locking fighters into exclusive long term contracts. I do know who is out to change this system though, we are, the CFC. We are not going to try to reinvent the wheel, but we would like to add a little of the business model that professional boxing has adopted for decades. Can you imagine if professional boxing would not allow champion to fight champion. How many great boxing matches would we have missed?"

Grimsley added, "The UFC has made this sport into what it is today and my hat is off to them, but in the same regard, we feel the sport must allow the best from any league to fight each other when the time is right. We are willing to sit down with any and all parties necessary to make this fight happen including the UFC, Randy Couture, the Gersh Agency, Fedor Emelianenko, his manager Vadim Finkelstein and M-1. It happens everyday in boxing. That's how you get an undisputed champion. This exclusivity only hurts the sport, the fans, the fighters and the amount of money a fighter can make. We are going to do everything we can to bring this fight and many others currently prohibited. It's time for the MMA to change for the benefit of the fighters and fans, not the sanctioning bodies."

The first CFC event took place October 6, 2007 and has already hit the radar of Mark Cuban's HDNet Network, which only broadcasts in 1080i High Definition, and the hit show Inside MMA. Highlights of the first CFC Middleweight Title fight "Let the Rage Begin" aired this last Friday, October 12, 2007. For airing information, go to www.hd.net and look for the Inside MMA schedule.
