I dunno i read someone's review of Randy Savage vs Steamboat so i figured i'd give this a try. At first i was gonna review something from my WWF/E dvd's but everyone has seen that so i'll review this match from 1982 when Ric Flair came to Dominican Republic to defent the NWA Title since probably none of you know of that match. Enjoy! The story so far: ok Jack Veneno tried out for the WWWF 3 years before this match took place and was told he was too small and that he would never make it....and they were right at least outside of the caribbean. Anyways he joins a nameless promotion in Dominican Republic owned by the late promoter El Vampiro(no not THAT one)there are only about 7 real wrestlers and the promotion goes around the country making open challenges to the citizens, they soon become popular and train a few kids and the promotion still had no name but their biggest star was Jack Veneno. Looking to go international Vampiro got in talks with the WWC from puerto rico to do a DR vs PR angle that made them a lot of money, one day during a WWC anniversary show which featured Ric flair vs Carlos colon in a cage match that ric flair was supposed to win but had to lay down for Colon so the fans wouldn't riot, Vampiro impressed by ric flair soon joined the NWA so ric flair could defend the title against his top star and the match is set for November 11th in the Quisqueya Stadium. 1 week before the match Ric Flair's arrival to the country was broadcasted and people from all over the country came to receive the world champion who was given the gimmick of the evil owner of the NWA who came to close down the promotion and was challenged by Jack Veneno and here we go Pre match segment: The stadium is said to be filled by 40,000 people and since it only has 33,000 seats a lot of people brought their own chairs and some are sitting on the floor. The match takes too long to start and the fans are chanting for veneno, Ric Flair comes out in street clothes w/Roody Piper and they cut a promo talking about how much better the U.S is better than this island to which the fans respond by shooting him LITERALLY Ric flair runs away faster than a speeding bullet and Piper dissapeared before a near riot started, a tag team match took place during which a fan broke a beer bottle over one of the wrestlers. Vampiro calms the crowd down and the they sing the national anthem and out comes Jack Veneno wearing the colors of the dominican flag waving an american flag which he burns and out comes ric flair to AMAZING heat. The match: Jack veneno offers a handshake and flair kicks his hand and chops the living hell out of him(WHOO!) there he goes again and again until veneno does the same except he missed and hit flair in the face to which flair yells "FUCK!" flair punches him and then they do a strenght test until veneno irish whips flair and clothes the hell out of him he steps on flair's face who then gets up and begs for mercy and then low blows his opponent , flairs then chops him ten times and they go to the outside he back drops veneno on the concrete floor then veneno gets up but flair comes running at him with a clothesline and goes back in and veneno gets back up and after flair who body slams veneno and pulls out a a blade and blades veneno in full view of the fans and the camera he then proceeds to smash his face ten times on the corner, he backdrops veneno who has gotten almost no offence flair does a snap mare and a really hard kick to the back of veneno's neck he then uses the back breaker only to pick him back up and lift him over his shoulders and send veneno flying to the outside. veneno(bleeding like hell) gets a bat from under the ring and hits flair who then blades like a MAN , veneno then proceeds to smash flair's head against the post on the outside for about a minute until he gets tired and drop kicks him he irsh whips flair through some glass and tries to pile drive him only get backdropped. Back in the ring flairs works the leg and they then proceed to some amateur wrestling but flair out wrestles veneno , veneno going for what i think is a suplex but flair counters it into something that looks like a scorpion death drop or reverse ddt but when they land he wont let go and uses it as some sort of choke hold flair lets go of him and taunts the crowd only get rolled up from behind for 2. flair bites veneno and irish whips him and receives him with a back drop he then goes for the figure four but 2 fans run in and beat him up until flair security comes in and holds them so flair can chop them until one of them cries. veneno clotheslines flair out of the ring and they just brawl on the outside until another fan comes in but flair hits him with the baseball bat and he is taken away. Back in the ring now ric flair does a flying clothesline(yep from the top rope) working the leg again and this time he does get the figure four veneno turns around and flair only lasts a few seconds before he turns around also therefore veneno is back in the leglock, he tries to go for the ropes he can't reach them the fans are yelling for him not to tap out and they have their shotguns out (great security huh?) until vampiro comes out and whispers something to both of then and flair just lets go of the hold and lays down so veneno can go to the top rope and splash him over and over again so the crowd goes apeshit this goes on for a while.....he then sends flair to the ropes and backdrops him and doing the figure four on the wrong leg but flair does not tap so splash mania starts running wild again until he picks flair up and pile drives him and goes for another splash but flair low blows him and goes out side and gets a mic then says that he will leave veneno in a wheel chair so he goes back in and is ready to use the figure four but veneno kicks him and veneno does the figure four on the right leg this time but flair gets the ropes only to be caught with the "controversial" which is the name of veneno's sleeper hold until flair lays down and veneno splashes him and wins the NWA title and the thousands of fans run in and pick him over their shoulders as ric flair runs away. Aftermath: Some say that there was a rematch in miami , some say veneno refused to defend the title and some just say that the NWA resufed to recognise this match due to the near riot and just gave flair the belt back. But veneno was a hero in the eyes of this little island so they created a title for him and the title was dubbed "The Heavyweight title of the whole wide woooooooooooorld" after vampiro died veneno took over the promotion and made himself look like a superman never loosing a match during his 20 year title run in his late years he was so old and fat that he could only do a clothesline and then pin his opponent. When it was time for him to retire instead of dropping the title he decided to just end the promotion. My Opinion: Well the match was mostly just a bloody brawl but the heat sure made up for it and the scared look in ric flair's eyes fearing for his eyes.....this match gets shown every sunday at 6 am and it used to be on all day, not many people outside the country know of this match and i don't know if veneno was ever recognised as a champion, but he is a hero in the country. No one besides me and another guy in the country know that what vampiro whispered to both flair and veneno was to let veneno win the match so the fans didn't riot and i just dont have the heart to tell everyone that their hero isn't who they think he is.....so whadaya think?did i do good as a reviewer??
