  1. Mileena, Kitana, Baraka and Sektor also were added to MK Gold. Most people hate MK4, but I like it. Not as much as the first 3, but it's still fun. It plays more like MK3 than a 3D fighter and the weapons are more of a novelty than really useful. I had a long overview of it's gameplay typed out but it was deleted.... I suppose Reiko could be Kahn's son. It would be kind of lame to say that he had a son this whole time and just never mentioned him, but that's never stopped them before. Reiko's MK4 opening story mentions nothing about Kahn. It says he's one of Shinnok's generals who died and has apparently come back to life. In the show MK Conquest he appeared and was one of Kahn's minions. The developers have said he was "associated" with Kahn, but wouldn't elaborate. In the latest chat with them John Vogel flat out said Reiko was a lame character and he never wanted to use him again. I don't think anyone has any idea what Reiko's deal is.
  2. Well, he doesn't shapeshift exactly like Shang. He just gets the person's moveset, but still looks the same. They're more like impersonations than morphs. But yeah, it's weak. I hate how Shinnok was hyped as an uber strong fallen elder god then turned out to be a pushover. Sort of. He and Roger Sharp were asked about it in Gamepro back in 93. They confirmed that there is something in the game called Ermac and it comes up when something that isn't supposed to happen happens. Whatever that means. The answer was extremely vague. They didn't say what it does or even actually confirm it was a red ninja at all. He also hinted it may be in MK II. Also over the years Ed has mentioned Ermac in interviews, but in a joking manor. Like he'll be like "anyone found Ermac yet?? " The problem with asking Ed is that you'll never get a straight answer. He loves the whole mystery of MK and always plays it up. Like he still claims there's a hidden code in MKDA to be discovered(but he "can't remember" what it was). It's hard to take anything Ed says seriously. You never know if he's being honest or just working the fans. There IS something in early MK games called "ermac" though. Until they switched to the T-Unit hardware all the revisions had a listing for "ermacs" in the audits menu. I am not sure what that is. Whatever it is it's not exclusive to MK, as it's in Smash TV too. The manual for the arcade version lists it as "error traps". People have been looking through the game's ROMs to try and find proof of Ermac and came up with nothing. There's no "ermac wins", no "Ermac" in the lifebar, no sign of him at all. Also the game is over a decade old and no one has been able to reproduce it or provided any solid details on it. Besides Ed's interview the article about it in EGM is the most cited proof that Ermac exists. WAY back in the day some guy named Tony Casey sent in a story and picture about Ermac. He told this ridiculous story about Ermac jumping down and giving clues and then a week later fighting him. The pic is really dark and shady looking. Quite frankley, it's a bunch of BS. The story is hilarious because of how hokey it is. What he describes is obviously not in the game or it would have been discovered 10 years ago. It also contradicts what Ed says since it's clearly not some rare glitch, but something intentionally programed to be in the game. I think the whole thing is just a clasic urban legend. My guess is that "ermacs" was simply some hardware related bug counter. The listing for "ermacs" is right under the listing for "Reptile Appearances". I am betting some player way back in the day saw that and thought it meant "Ermac Appearances" and passed it on to his friends. Then they passed it on and so forth until the rumor became "omg there is a guy in it called ermac!". Then the Tony guy took the rumor and sent the hoax story and pic to EGM and it snowballed even more. Finally Gamepro asked Ed and he gave his vague little answer and the legend was born. I don't think it will ever die. Even though it's over 10 years old and still no sign of him. Even though with modern technology we can look at the game's code and see that there simply is no Ermac in the games ROM. Everyone still believes it because they want to believe. It's silly, but fans love the mystery of MK. They love how "mysterious" the game's secrets are. The idea of this ultra secretive ninja that nobody has seen lurking in the shadows is appealing. It gives the game this mysterious, cryptic vibe. Like 90% of fans believe in it, yet no one ever has any proof. No one ever has any clear pics, any real details on it, any idea of how to get to him, or anything. It's always either "really well hidden~!" or "it's the rarest glitch ever!". Also people always cite the Ed interview or the EGM story yet because they're so old they don't actually remember what was said. "It was in EGM, so it must be true!" even though it was really just some fan who sent it in and who's story was really goofy sounding. The truth is that it's almost certainly just some boring old error log...but the idea of it being a mystery character is just so appealing people will never give it up.
  3. I did mention the pics. They're at IGN.
  4. Not sure. Mileena's MK II and UMK3 endings mention them ruling together, but neither actually happened. It's still possible they know each other or are a couple though. The sais are not on the trailer. You can see them in the new PSM pics.
  5. In the actual game he isn't mentioned at all so at the time we didn't know what happened to him and many speculated he died during MK3. But in DA it was revealed he was locked up by Kahn for failing to win and then just chilling out at his home in Outworld.
  6. It's almost certainly Mileena. It's a purple female ninja with sais, why would it be someone new? The PSM article calls her Mileena too. The Nightwolf thing is not confirmed, but sure seems like it. You can only see him for a second. It's in the same quick shot as the girl with the big hat. You can see her fighting a dude with Indian looking clothes, a feather in his hair, and a hatchet in his hand. A respected player from MKO also says he has a source that confirmed it to be Nightwolf. IGN just posted some new pics from PSM's up coming article. They show more interactive stages, show some new bald character(some are arguing it's an alternate outfit for Sub-Zero) and they show the first image of Noob Saibot. The game comes out fall of 2004.
  7. But that's just an urban legend and hoax!
  8. My problem with the old school MK bosses being playable is that being them just isn't fun. They're so hoss controlling them is all combersome. You just lumber around doing your 4 moves. They can't jump or duck or do normal attacks and all that stuff. I like how you can fatality the bosses(except Moloch) in DA. I miss the old school death scenes though. Kahn turning into stone and blowing up in II is cool. The bosses have Fatalities of their own in MKT for N64.
  9. DA bosses are not worse. Moloch(subboss) is a big hoss monster with overpowered attacks, but he's not too bad. He's easier and less cheap than the previous monsters. The final bosses(Quan Chi & Shang Tsung) are just normally playable characters, nothing out of the ordinary. The pro-cheap boss argument is that they're BOSSES. They're SUPPOSED to be cheap and powerful. I like Kahn and Motaro. They're fun to fight. It doesn't feel like a normal fight, it actually feels like you're fighting someone strong. Kintaro is a badass, but is TOO hard on some versions.
  10. I hate how in the past two games the subboss has been unplayable/hidden and the final boss has just been a reguarly playable character. Why didn't they AT LEAST make Quan Chi and Shang Tsung hidden in MKDA? The game has like 9 different unlockable characters. Why not make Kitana and Raiden or whatever default and have them be unlockable in the Krypt? On the GBA version you fight them together in an endurance match and they are both hidden. Shang can also morph in it. I am playing DA for Xbox now. I am one koffin away from unlocking all of them. I have bought every Koffin in the PS2 version and both GBA versions. Once I finish this for Xbox all I'll have left is all the koffins on the GC one. My goal is to have completely finished the krypt on every version before MK6 comes out. looks like I may do it. It's taken forever though...sooo many kofffins...
  11. 0. They stopped doing that with MKT. You can already see Ermac, Sub-Zero and Scorpion look nothing alike(besides being ninja-like).
  12. MK Online has confirmed that the red guy in the trailer is in fact Ermac. That is...not cool. I hate him. Such a boring character, both in design and moves. God, I hope Noob isn't in.
  13. I never felt like I was in a Bond movie during EON, or really any other Bond game. Hours of Bond running around with a machine gun blowing away baddies just doesn't feel Bondish. EON does feel like you're in action movie somewhat, but not really Bond.
  14. If theyre going to use normally selectable characters as bosses like they did in MK4 and DA they need to go with character specific bosses. They could at least make it so evil characters fight Raiden as boss and good fight whoever the villain is.

    Midway Arcade Treasures sequel

They're polygons, but their textures are taken from the actors. They hype it as "digital skin". Brian Glynn IS Warhead in WG.
  16. From dictionary.com "Any contest of skill in which there are many contestants for championship; as, a chess tournament. A series of contests in which a number of contestants compete and the one that prevails through the final round or that finishes with the best record is declared the winner." MK and probably MK II are traditional tournaments with brackets and a bunch of other competitors you never see. There is some art for MK1 from Tobias' comic which shows a bunch of fighters with the main characters in front of them. It already takes 7-9 matches to beat the games though. What bugs me about the old ladder battle plan style of one player game is that you always end up fighting people that should be on your side. Like if you're Shang Tsung in MKDA you end up killing Moloch, Quan Chi and yourself before getting your ending. That makes no sense!
  17. The two big things are MK3 being a tournament and the status of Classic Sub-Zero. I think he has updated it addressing both. He says Classic Sub-Zero in UMK3/MKT is the unmasked Sub's younger brother. Yet here is his ending... "Having been killed in the first tournament, Sub-Zero somehow seems to have emerged to win the third tournament. However, upon removing his mask both the Outworld and the Earth-born warriors are shocked to discover the true identity of this warrior. A warrior who has long been missing from a previous Mortal Kombat, and one who will return in the fourth tournament." Now, is it just me or is that quite clearly saying it is NOT the original Sub? My interpratation is that it's saying "thought to have been the original Sub everyone is shocked when he takes off the mask and reveals himself to be someone else". I really don't see how it can be viewed as anything else quite frankley. I don't know who his real identity. Don't have a clue. My guess is John Tobias doesn't know either and just wrote the ending to be mysterious. He also says this is non-canon. I don't see how. It was never mentioned in MK4 but that doesn't mean it's non canon. Kurtis Stryker hasn't been mentioned since then but that doesn't mean his existance is non-canon. They could always bring this Classic Sub-Zero thing up again if they wanted. I doubt they will and it will just go down as a dropped story, but that doesn't mean it's non canon. Unless they say otherwise, he was there, they've just never followed up on it. He insists the events of MK3 where not a tournament. This contradicts a few endings(including the one I just posted, which clearly refers to it as "the third tournament"). If MK3 isn't a tournament why would it be called "the third tournament" in like 4 or so endings? The definition of "tournament" is just a series of events that lead to a victor being declared. There doesn't have to be brackets like a traditional tournament. I think MK3 was much like the first movie, where they were just challenging each other. like how Shang challenges Sonya, Cage challenges Goro and at the end Liu challenges Shang to the final battle.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Giles said the ubies were like the cavemen of vamps. "an ancient and entirely different race". Who knows what that means. Like most things introduced to the plot in season 7 it makes little sense, contradicts established canon and ended up amounting to nothing.

Fuck the new King of Fighters game

Even the sports team? I hate Battler.

Fuck the new King of Fighters game

Yeah, you can be everyone from MK1-3. There's also most of the old stages. But it's not a dream match, it adds to the story(except Goro and Kintaro, who's appearances are non-canon). The name Trilogy is misleading, it's really more of an upgrade of MK3 that just happens to have the complete roster up to that point.

In what way? MKT isn't a dream match, if that's what you mean.

Ryu has the older, post Alpha look, but it's not actually the SF III sprite. You don't own 3S!?

So is Dan. They're pretty cool too. I especially like Bison. A shame everyone wasn't redrawn.
  24. GE 2 sounds so lame. If they're going to whore out the GE name for a buck they could at least actually do a GoldenEye 2 and either remake the original or make a sequel to the story. This is just shady business to leach off Rare's work. I'm betting they're just going to start using the "GoldenEye" name as a brand for their Bond games.

That isn't just drawn in Alpha style, it IS an Alpha pic. That is directly from Alpha 3. Ryu's CvsS sprite isn't ripped from III.
