This is funny. ERMAC!

Have you seen the CG endings? It's not like N64 is missing much. With the exception of Reiko(who's extra ending has caused controversy that's STILL going on) they're pretty much the same. The CGI is poor quality and the animation is really bad. I HATE how they just took the in game endings and remade them in CG, so like all the awkward movements and poses from them are still there. Some of them look so ridiculous, like Shinnok flapping his arms when he flies. Also the voice acting is funny. I like it when Quan Chi steps on Sub-Zero's chest and he like howls.

Yeah, it's still fun even after all these years. I've never really stopped playing it. Play at least a bit of the old ones once a month. Sometimes I get into a phase where I play them more than newer games. I usually rotate which versions I play just to make it more interesting. BTW, here's my picks for the best ports of each game. MK = Genesis/Sega CD MK II = SNES MK 3 = PSX UMK3 = Saturn MKT = PSX/Saturn MK4 = PSX

Rain is in the intro to the arcade UMK3 but it's just a joke. Ed Boon is a fan of Prince. Rain is purple... The attract mode of that game has a few other oddities as well. Like sometimes if you let it sit it will show the match up graphic for Human Smoke vs. Noob Saibot, something that is impossible to see in the actual game. He is fully playable in the 16 bit UMK3s, MK Advance for GBA and MKT. His backstory is that he is one of Kahn's minions but turns on him when he learns his father used to work for Kitana and Sindel back in the day. Andrew's description of the C/Khameleons is correct, except Khameleon(the female one) does not cycle through the colors. She is grey. You tell who's moves you have by the color of her name in her lifebar. Khamelon is presented as a fully developed character. She has an opening bio, a space on the selection screen, an ending and is even mentioned in MKDA. Chamaleon is really halfassed. He has like no story at all and is just kinda there.

They still could have done better. I've seen worse though... What's up with the old dude during the final battle? He gave me the Triforce. Who was he?

The only magazine I still read is GMR, which I only subscribe to since I have an EB card. God, I hate how EB and Gamestop hardsell their magazines when you go in there.
-
Ive played Xtreme. It's ok, for a gameboy game. Hard to do advanced movements on it because of the controls.
-
It's 100 and comes with FF XI. I'm getting Outbreak, but I won't play it online.
-
I vote no on that. They're pretty lame. I don't think X3 is really much harder than the others. What bugs me though is the placement of the upgrades. Too much backtracking and the pacing is bad when following the weakness order.

Same thing happens in basically every fighting game review. I don't know of anyone in the press that seems to know what they're talking about. Even with the games they like they never actually go into much detail. Also, with any genre, I HATE novelty reviews. Like when they use the review space to have a big joke or running gag at the expense of actually reviewing the game. A while ago in OPM they had this horrible review from some Sponge Bob game. The whole review was a parody of the show's theme(at least I assume it was the theme). The worst part is it wasn't case of them just mocking a bad game, they gave it like a 9. If you're giving something a 9 you should go into detail and explain WHY, not do a "funny" review.

No. Only a home release. N64, PSX, Saturn, PC, Game.com. You can do Brutalities in the 16 bit versions of UMK3. Besides UMK3's intro Rain is not in any arcade version of MK. Noob is playable in UMK3, but only in the Wavenet UMK3 and he has no finishing moves.

SNK guys.

I have checked them out. I have the original on PSX, X and X2 on PS2 and X Advance on GBA. Only ones I haven't played are the Japanese only games. I don't really consider them fatalities. No, they're all done as the last hit. I think they're horrible. They're like impossibe! I love Ultras though.

I play classic and X series. I've beaten the 8 regular classics, MM&B, X1-7 and Xtreme 1. The only ones I find to be hard are MM1 and MM&B(and I can beat those, it's not like they're impossible). The series being infamous for being hard is something I've never understood. I have never found them to be hard, even when I was younger. I don't think I'm all that good or anything, they're just easy. You've got infinite continues, the levels are pretty short, there's checkpoints, almost all the enemies have basic patterns and the bosses have their weaknesses. The X series is particularly easy with it's upgrades. In fact them being so easy is a huge part of the reason I love them. It's fun to just play through them and fly through the levels then own the boss.

MM came out on my birthday. I have like 4 adventure/RPGs I need to finish. It sucks, I feel like I have to rush through just to get them done.
-
Well normally if I hate a game I trade it in and just get something else. In this case I don't want to get rid of it because it's part of a collection and I like OOT, Zelda 1 is okay, and I want to play MM. So having the disc and just not having beaten the Zelda II part of it would annoy me. Ugh, the guy that is supposed to give me Reflect keeps sayingto come back when I'm ready.
-
What's strange? I never played MM back when it was new because it was so close to N64's death. I don't remember how far I was in LA.
-
"I just want to beat it to get it over with so I can say I've finished it." I got it recently(with the new bonus disc) so I want to play through it. It bugs me to own games I haven't beaten. When I get done with this, I can move on to MM, which I'm actually looking forward to playing since I never got around to it and I like OOT and WW. I have played Link's Awakening. I think its ok. Better than the NES games.

I don't mean you. I don't care if you don't like my stuff. My problem is when people say ridiculous things like you're not "hardcore" or "dont count" depending on what you like(or don't like). It's not so bad here, but is really bad at other forums. Seems like I'm the only who likes FF VIII though, which is sad. I've observed the same thing. My liking of MK doesn't really go against it, if you think about it. The reason I like MK is because it's simple(easy) and really flashy with a big mythology of backstory(cinematic). I just beat the third dungeon in Zelda II.

I don't want to see the others either. Just Fatalities and pits. Actually I was fine with just one Fatal per character. I like KI's Ultimates and Ultras though. It's really satisfiying to do a fatality at the end of a chain combo. Also it's cool how in KI2 you can do a fatality at the end and have them block it. Not counting codes, those are all at the end of a match though. The only games I can think of where you can truely kill them in the middle of a fight are Bloodstorm and Time Killers(I just bought that the other day, btw). Fatalities rule. I really enjoy bad MK clones with overly violent fatalities. Especially when they have really shitty digitized graphics. It's like how people love bad horror movies, but with fighters. I bought Way of the Warrior the other day.
-
Stage Fatalities were nearly in DA. The Acid Bath stage in DA was created in mind for them. They scrapped the idea at the last minute though. So I would expect them to be in this one. Animalities, Friendships, Babalities, Brutalities and anything else are kind of doubtful. Ed seems to hate them. He always is pretty negative when talking about them and they were out of MK4 and DA.
-
Probably. The only reason they weren't in DA was time constraints. If they're really using the same engine they should have time to put in a bunch of fatals.
