That was PSM. EGM had the big Nimbus Terrafaux hoax from MK1.
-
Yeah, I remember that part too.
-
What mirror level in KI?
-
My favorite is not Aeris, but that's a great one. It's Ermac supposedly being in MK1. There is no Hornbuckle, but Fergality is TRUE. It's in Genesis MK II.
-
No. Here are some of my favorites about MK... Ermac is in MK1. Everyone's normal attacks are exactly the same. Classic Sub-Zero in UMK3/MKT is the old Sub-Zero from MK1. Shen Long is a good one. A lot of people don't realize it's significance. Not only was it a good joke, it really changed gaming. The myth was the reason Reptile was added to MK1 and that started the whole trend of secret characters, which is still really big today.

I don't know about the music, but I do love that game. I have played quite a bit of all the different home versions. At one point or another I've owned it for Genesis, PC, 32X and Saturn and have played the PSX and SNES ones a ton. It's great! It has my second favorite gaming urban legend: Adam Bomb is a hidden character in it.

You can beat most of the FF games at VERY low levels. Like in the single digits. People do low level games, no materia games, no esper games, initial equipment games, and other insane stuff.
-
I subscribe, but have been mad at them ever since they turned on Tekken so that they could hardsell VF4 more. Seeing them complain about King's multi-throws being "too powerful"....
-
Iori killing Kyo defeats the purpose of the story. The whole idea is that the two clans had to come together to fight a mutual enemy. That IS the blow off. Putting aside their feud to save the world.
-
No, but I always wanted to play Way of the Warrior.
-
The bitter enemies teamed up to defeat Orochi. What more of a blow off do you want?
-
No bounce = ruined game. Is there milk blood?
-
I think I'm going to get this today. Is it true they censored Mai's bounce?
-
I think it's a mistranslation of Seraph Sephiroth.
-
There is no way Igniz is harder than the Eternal Champion/Dark Champion battle in EC:CFTDS! That is IMPOSSIBLE!
-
Bahamut takes off like a couple of thousand, can be done once per battle unless you level it up, costs a ton of MP and makes you lose like 10% of your HP. I don't see the big deal. It's semi-powerful...so what? You're the first I've ever seen complain that of all things in FF VII, the summons are what's over powered. That's usually a VIII complaint. For the record, Safer Sephiroth usually survives a single KOTR. I found the weapons in VII to be like 10 times harder than any side quest in VI, but it doesn't matter which is easier, the point is that both are easy. How is Equipment unimportant? It's just like the other games. It gives you defense or attack bonuses, except it also has the materia slots or extra/less Materia growth. Nobody is going to use the Buster Sword or some weaksauce Bronze Bangle halfway into the game. You COULD give the cure to anybody, but it's not in your best interest. Why would you give your support magic to the same party member that primarily attacks? Cure will lower their HP by like 5% and give them extra magic power, which they don't need. I always think about who should get what Materia. For example, I wouldn't want the person with E. Skill to have my support magic because Big Guard uses up a LOT of your MP. Instead I give E. Skill to someone who primarily attacks and doesn't need a lot of MP to do other stuff. Another example is that I would not give Comet to the same person as Cure. The person with Cure is going to be healing and supporting the others in battle, they're not going to have time or MP to waste on doing Comet. In theory everyone in FF VII can cure, but I don't think that's the case in actual practice for the vast majority of players. I know when I play through I don't have 3 mastered cure or fire materia. I just have one person with good cure stuff and it's the same deal with FF IV, if they die they party is in trouble. I know what you mean though. FF IV being simpler actually makes it harder since you have less to work with. I agree that's true, but it's not always good thing if you ask me. I like how in the blank slate type games you can do what you want. If you want to make your own classes you can, if you want to be gods then you can do that too. I like the class system too though. Especially in X. I really liked how you could switch in and out characters to take advantage of their special abilities, like switching in to have Wakka take out a flying baddie.

I don't bitch about FF VII's ending. I think it's great.
-
You don't have to breed Chocobos to get KOTR. You could get a Gold Chocobo from beating Ruby Weapon and get it there. You could also beat Emerald Weapon and use it via Master Summon. KOTR is more powerful than Ultima, but both make the end really easy. Really though all the modern FF's allow you to get stuff that make the end really easy. In FFX you can beat the final boss with a couple of normal attacks.
-
No way, Chocobo breeding is obnoxious. Leveling up Ultima is easy on Dino island. Plus VI has Vanish/Doom, which is ridiculously overpowered.
-
KOTR is a LOT harder to get than Ultima.
-
All I did in Kefka's Tower was Ultima.
-
You are seriously overhyping Summons in FF VII. Besides KOTR none of them all are that over powered, they take a ton of MP and can only be used a couple of times without tons and tons of leveling. I don't know of anyone who plays FF VII by abusing summons. Besides KOTR Ultima in FF VI is FAR more overpowered than any Summon spell in FF VII. I am still not seeing what "strategy" is missing. How is letting you decide who gets what any less deep than having it be set? Just saying "there is no strategies for winning battles" means nothing. What are the strategies for winning battles in FF IV or VI that are missing in VII? Like look at FF IV. Cecil is ALWAYS a fighter. Rosa is ALWAYS a mage. In every battle Cecil will attack and Rosa will support the party. In VII you must decide. You can make it so Cloud is always a fighter and Cait Sith is always the support. You can make it so both have some support skills and fighting skills. How is this less deep? It sounds more complicated... Damaramu, we're talking about game depth, not difficulty. Besides, FF VII wasn't the first to be easy. I would hope even the most hardcore fan would admit that VI was extremely easy.
-
You can make VII like that too, it's just up to you who has the steal materia, who has enemy skill and who has slash-all or whatever. I don't see how making everyone a blank slate and leaving it up to the player is "dumbed down". If anything isn't that deeper and more strategic?
-
Yeah, but IX was after VII so it's not like VII is a dumbed down IX. I know of the limits in VI, but have like never seen one and I've beat it twice.
-
Yeah and FF I, II, III, V and VI is like that too. Except in VI they have abilities they can use at any time, unlike VII where they're limit breaks. So how does that make VII "dumbed down" when they're all empty slots in all the FF games except IV? FF IV is the only one that has set character classes and that is certainly not a deep game.
