The Dayton connection is alive and well on this board. Represent!
-
Did I mention Jericho kicked out of the chokeslam. And these days a lowblow is par for the course, so I says it's clean. Orton got Orton sucks chants so the guy had heat, at least last night in Dayton. And to agree with Suicide King the Benoit/Batista match was very good. And while I'm on the subject, Dayton deserves more live shows, I know Hara and Nutter are small but come on WWE through us a frickin bone. I've come to terms with the fact that the Nutter Center is too small to host a Royal Rumble, but a Smackdown now and then would be nice, I HATE driving to Columbus.

Oh, I'm sorry were you at the Hara Arena last night? Cause if you were you would've seen that Benoit messed up going for the Crossface while in the powerbomb position. But I guess you're right because Batista's big and not Canadian. If anyone cares Jericho beat Kane pretty cleanly (Kane was going to tombstone Jericho on a chair but Trish came out and then Kane went for her and Jericho low blowed him and rolled him up). Hmmmm, Benoit gets a clean tap on Batista and Jericho pins Kane, I guess HHH wasn't in town last night.
-
Yes I was there too and Suicide King's description is accurate, Benoit was trying to counter the powerbomb into the crossface but they botched it. Personally, I was hoping Dayton would get one of those test run matches and put Benoit vs Michaels out there, they've done it before here (Hogan vs Flair in 91).

Kenny Wayne Shepard is awesome, I love "Blue on Black"

I bought a DVD-R of the Japanese release that has all the special features except for the Audio Commentary for 20 bucks, so even though I'm bummed I have to wait longer to own it officially, I can still watch Ed Wood on DVD :-)

I'm talking about those moments in wrestling that aren't injuries (like Sid or Eddy or Mass Transit), but those moments that no matter how much you know about the sport, still make you cringe. I nominate the chairshot Ken Shamrock took square on the face in Spring 98 from the Rock on RAW.

Yeah, I want The Critic, Hoffa, Time Bandits and Star Trek VI
-
I'm betting "In America" gets a Best Picture nod, along with LOTR, Lost in Translation, Mystic River, and Cold Mountain.

The kind where Vince would bellow "It's time to rumble, it's time for the Rooooyaaal Rummmblllle! 30 WWE Superstars in an over-the-top extravagansa, including...Chris Benoit....Test....Taijiri....Christian....500 lb 7 foot tall The Big Show....Booker T..." and so on with each Superstar getting a promo picture flying in screen.

Whoever was listing Ohio how could you neglect Brian F'N Pillman. When he wrestled Alex Wright at the GAB 95 in Dayton he was the mega babyface. Wight was booed consistantly and Brian STILL put him over.

The One And Only Smackdown Thread (01/22/04)
DMann2003 replied to Lightning Flik's topic in The WWE Folder
No Smackdown for me either, just the weather radar. -
The Euro title finals match is widely praised, but what is everyone's opinion of the rematch that took place on RAW the week after WrestleMania. It ends with Bret stopping the match and reforming the Hart Foundation, so I'd say with the wrestling (which goes about 10 minutes) plus the angle I'd give the whole moment ****.

I would think that Miller is closer to a Libertarian or Classical Conservative.

Discuss & Review: Mick Foley's Greatest Hits/Misse
DMann2003 replied to Elbarto997's topic in The WWE Folder
I disagree, the Foley/Sabu rematch is a decent brawl, and with Foley's comments it adds interesting insight. -
I'mn ordering, the last 2 Rumble's I've ordered and they've been quite good. I love the Rumble match itself and Michaels/HHH, Mysterio/Noble and Eddy/Chavo should be decent-good. I'm not bugged by Lesnar/Holly, so the card looks pretty good to me.

Discuss & Review: Mick Foley's Greatest Hits/Misse
DMann2003 replied to Elbarto997's topic in The WWE Folder
I think it's funny that they overdub his Cactus Jack music for his ECW/WCW matches. Why wouldn't they be able to use "Mr. Bang-Bang"? (I understand not keeping "Born to be Wild") The WWE has been on a hot streak with it's DVD's lately (Rey, Michaels, Bloodbath, Ric Flair and now Foley). I look forward to the inevitable Jericho DVD. -
I picked this up at my second hand CD/DVD store for 48 bucks. I'd only owned a Best of (which I sold) and the Box Set before this. So much like Led Zeppelin I now have all the studio works related to this cool band (well yeah the post Morrison albums aren't here but they've never been released on CD). I love the packaging. And the booklet with full lyrics is nice as well. I wouldn't have paid the 90 bucks to get it new, but for just under 50 I'm very satisfied, I'm going through each album now (CP- "Waiting For the Sun"). Any other thoughts on The Doors, this set, etc?

Oh and The Last Waltz, finest concert documentary. And if you're willing to splurg- Criterion Collection's Complete Monteray Pop Festival.
-
Oh yes excellent concert, I picked it up for 12.99 myself. Angus/Malcolm give brief audio comments on their discography.

Selma Blair To Play Lois Lane In Superman?
DMann2003 replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
^I agree, you'll not find a guy right now who looks like Clark Kent/Superman more than Tom Welling -
Also don't be afraid to bring up lesser known ones (I mean yes everyone knows Foley in HITC and RR 99, But you might not automatically think of him taking the bump in Halloween Havoc 93 where Vader fell back onto him onto the wooden ramp, the one Foley was hoping would end his career).

Regarding the Metallica comps where's Bleeding Me or The Outlaw Torn?

I made an Eagles compilation awhile back

Normally I'd be happy if I got Ivory shoved in my mouth, Just not THAT Ivory...
