    HOF Inductions thread

I try not to think of Piper post 1996, then he goes and opens his mouth... Still, he's always been one of my favs, but I always seemed to like the guys that ended up deteriorating horribly (Piper, Roberts, Savage)

    WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony

Well at least they decided to induct Piper live along with Hogan. Who knows what that crazy old coot will say (or both for that matter)

    The Pope

I only think the next pope might be Italian because everyone keeps telling me, "The Italians want the papacy back." As if they have some sort of monopoly or something. A "third-world pope" would be kind of cool, though. I don't think we'll see a black pope, though. Lord, I could just imagine Boston's reaction if it happened. We've already had 1 black Pope Granted this was like 1800 years ago, but hey I'm leaning closer to Hispanic myself though. If I was gonna make a film about John Paul II, I'd cast Ed Harris as the Pontiff

    Fever Pitch

I love the Cincinatti Reds, I was at that Pillman show with Casey & Graves If anyone cares Ebert & Roeper gave the film 2 big thumbs up, I may go see the snaek tonight, depending on what film it's showing with.

    5 Favorite Led Zep tunes

Okay, the isn't 5 best tracks, just my five favorite Led Zeppelin songs right now. "What is and What Should Never Be"- Led Zeppelin II, I love the chorus, lyrics and musically and I like the little forshadowing to the "Livin Loving Maid" riff during the coda of the song. "That's the Way"- Led Zeppelin III, Just a beautiful aucostic melody, perfect for a car ride on an open road. Used to perfection in "Almost Famous" "The Rain Song"- Houses of the Holy, Again a great aucostic melody and builds to a gread closing cresendo, much like Stairway, but with a different tone. "The Rover"- Physical Graffiti, Woefully underrated Zep track, I don't know why it doesn't get much airplay, one of Page's best riff's, I love this song more and more I hear it. "Kashmir"- Physical Graffiti, had to throw out one all out classic Zep track on here. This one works beautifully, Puff Daddy ass rapings notwithstanding.

I bought a DVD recorder tonight

Burned my first DVD today, a nice little SNME comp of the 10/87 & 11/87 programs, recorded at LP speed, pixelation was kind of persistant, but then again original tape quality wasn't that hot to begin with. I'll probably have to make a few discs before I get a flow going with it. The controls are easy to understand, I'm making a Tag Team best disc right now at SP (2hrs) speed, might get better quality that way. Here's the match list- HHH/Austin vs Benoit/Jericho (5-21-01 RAW) TLC III 4way (5-24-01 Smackdown) Hart Brother's vs The Steiner Brothers (Wrestlefest 1994) 10 Man tag (2-7-00 RAW) Rockers vs Hart Foundation (SNME 4/1990) 1-2-3 Kid/Razor Ramon vs Shawn Michaels/Diesel (Slamfest 1995) Shawn Michaels/Ric Flair vs Bret Hart/Randy Savage (Grudges, Gripes & Grunts)

I bought a DVD recorder tonight

Okay here's the set up- I bought an Emerson EWR10D4 DVD Recorder tonight and my main reason for purchasing was it has edit capabilities. So I'm trying to hook it up so I can play my VCR (wrestling tapes) and record onto the DVD, I followed the connections but my DVD menu isn't coming up. I'm gonna make a test with WrestleWar 92 anyway and if worst comes to worst I'm only out 1 DVD-R disc. I know I'm not the only one who's tried to do this I just have to figure out why the connection doesn't seem to be pulling up the DVD recorder menu, I haven't had any trouble hooking up other devices (PS2, DVD Home Theater, Digital cable) and the VCR signal's coming through. If anyone else has a similar setup (or this brand DVD recorder) and can help me out, let me know either here or through a PM. Thank you.

I bought a DVD recorder tonight

Update, I've got the Recorder coming up on my AV1 outlet on my Samsung 26" Widescreen monitor, and the VCR coming across AV2, now I just have to figure out how to record the image from the tape onto the DVD. I'll get some rest and tackle this later this morning. EDIT- Didn't take long to figure out how to hook it up properly, and I've got it working now, now to start transferring 1 media to another.

How much is WM 21 gonna cost this year?

Considering my local Hooters still was showing PPVs, that's my option (wishes Buffalo Wild Wings was showing it though)

I bought a DVD recorder tonight

Yeah, I'm thinking I've got the Input's screwed up, Remote works fine as far as I can tell, I'll test it sans VCR hookup tomorrow, but I've read reviews of the system mentioning recording from VCR so I know it can be done, just have to figure it out.

    Pulp Fiction

Like Bob I too watched this film again over the weekend, actually sat down and watched it didn't just have it playing on in the background. There were a lot of criticisms about Tarantino being all about style and not much else. If that were really the case this film would've fell out of importance like many of its copycats (2 Days in the Valley, Things to do in Denver When You're Dead), but this film has more going for it than just its style (though there is an abundance of it). The dialogue is like Shakespeare, not in what is being said mind you, but the rythym and way it's said. And I think those who didn't turn away from the violence (of which on screen there really isn't much of, but it is intense) or the language (of which yes there is a lot of) found the film to have a moral center. Each story is a tale of redemption/saving someone. A man like Jules, who experiences a life-changing event walks away while Vincent, who blows this event off, ends up dying. I tried several times to see this film in a theater when it first came out 10 years ago, each time I seemed to have something stop me (note I was 15 at the time). I finally saw it on a Sunday afternoon in March of 1995, and I was floored. I had never seen a film like it, certainly not on my own. Yes, it still packs a punch a decade later.

    The Godfather- the video game

I saw this mentioned in USA Today and I found this linkGodfather Video Game Announced Seeing as how "The Godfather" is my favorite film, the idea of playing a game where you get to rise up the ranks of the Corleone family sounds pretty frickin sweet.

    Orton's RAW promo

Actually..and don't quote me on this, because it might not have been you, but 'people' were saying that only some girls in the audience were cheering for him. And that's it. And to my knowledge thats not 'a midcard reaction'. So basically, you're saying, push Orton? Orton has, and is still making money for WWE. Like a few said in this thread about when they went to house/live shows when he was still getting big reactions, everyone and their brother had a Legend Killer shirt. Even now, his Randy Wear is selling like crazy. (Which even amazes me >_>). So, he's making the WWE money. And well, he doesn't have to be a great worker to connect with the fans...so, push Orton. Which is what they may...do (or not if he really is injured), and they 'wont half ass it' by putting him over Taker. That may actually be what he needs to springboard him. I mean, if he does break the streak. He can go back to the Orton that got over. Although it may get annoying, he could pretty much brag about it every week, and spit in everyone's face (although not literally this time >_>) But I guess we'll just have to wait and see before we should be complaining.. For the record, you've confused me with other posters in this thread. My post was exclusively about Batista, in response to the "Guys only like Batista" cause of his suit. I didn't say, nor implied, one thing about Orton. And for the record, I happen to be a fan of Orton, moreso if he goes back to being a dickish heel, so don't assume I was saying Orton won't make money for the company, and therefore shouldn't be pushed. In your rush to make your case you mixed up my comments with others. Don't do that. I say push both Orton and Batista, if it'll draw and be successful.

    Taxi Driver WM Promo.

I still don't know why they didn't make a "Terminator" clip with Batista as the T-800 "I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle" "Screw you jackass!" *Thumbs up...Thumbs DOWN!"

    Orton's RAW promo

I was with Batista ever since I saw him live at Badd Blood last year, the way he played with the crowd was great. I coined the term "the Cult of Batista", but that didn't get over. Some guys don't have to be great workers to click with fans (Hogan, Sid in 91/96 anyone?). Bottom line, if it'll make WWE money, push him and don't half ass it.

    Orton's RAW promo

I'm of the camp that the Undertaker's WM streak means little to my overall enjoyment of history of the business. And if Orton makes a return to his heelish dick-young gun persona, I won't be dissappointed to see him win (I do own a "Randy Orton Legend Killer Tour" T-shirt)

    HHH's Raw Promo

I believe HHH tells a good story, that's his plus... Problem is, as has been stated, it's the same story over and over. He needs a new story to tell. He takes the long blond hair from Flair The handlebar moustache from Harley The physique of Superstar Billy Graham And the obssesive compulsive need to be the champ/focus of the show from Hogan.
