The OAO Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thread
DMann2003 replied to DMann2003's topic in Television & Film
*BUMP* It's funny, I started this thread 7 months ago, and I still have the tapes and am only 1/3 of the way into season 3 with my dubbing (I do need to get back to that). I just threw in "Earth vs the Spider", Season 3-5 were the pinnacle of excellence for the show. I'm curious as to when everyone got into the show and what episode was it- For me it was the summer of 91. Back then our cable company split Comedy Central and Vh1 on the same channel, it was VH1 in the morning and CC in the later afternoon evening. Which turned out good because MST3K came on Saturdays at 7pm (and bad b/c Turkey Day marathons were cut in half). Anyway I used to cath SNL reruns at 9 on Saturdays and always saw "Mystery Science Theater 3000" in the TV guide being on from 7-9pm. I didn't know the premise of the show and I assumed it was some hybrid Science/Comedy show (like Bill Nye the science guy or Mr. Wizard). I was 12 at the time and one night I flipped the show on and it was the Pod People episode. I slowly caught on to what was happening and I got hooked. Since that night I've been a fan of the show ever since. So now that I've given this thread a bump and a new theme, add your MSTories. -
The Polar Express is gaurenteed business through Christmas, turns out it's a pretty damn good little film too (I heard it's even better in IMAX 3-D). I say it closes its domestic run just under it's 165 million price tag, not a bomb, not a hit, but I bet over the years it becomes a holiday staple.

Let me put it this way, True Lies is his worst (and it's still a damn good action film) The Abyss (director's cut) is vastly underrated

Just thought I'd post this, I've got so many tapes, not much I need, but there's still a few things I wouldn't mind having. ECW November to Remember 1995 (plus ECW Hardcore TV from late 94-95) WCW Saturday Nights from the late 80's to early 90's (pre-Hogan) (anything involving Dangerous Alliance, Hollywood Blondes) SNME from 1986 (excluding 9/86), April of 89 (the one with the 1st Rockers/Brainbusters match) ROH shows (excluding era of honor begins) 11/95 RAW (Michaels collapses, Diesel interview) AWA stuff from the early/mid 80's (Hogan, Hennig, Martel, Midnight Rockers, early Road Warriors) Stuff from Bill Watts UWF Prime time comps (the golden era of Bobby and Gorilla, 88-91) Get in touch with me if you've got any stuff along these lines.

What's it all about? I see The Polar Express does indeed have legs, still 165 million dollar budget, it's gonna still need to sell a helluva lot of DVD's to make that back. -
I'm surprised there isn't a thread on this yet, I know there's a fair contingent of Nirvana fans (and detractors) on this board. I picked it up today (27.98 at Target), it's pretty interesting to see the band's evolution, I haven't watched the DVD yet but I'm looking forward to it. Feel free to post on it those who got it or are thinking of getting it, I'll answer any questions about the set that I can.

I thought of that, sort of a "Dog, the Bounty Hunter" type guy, who decides to right the wrongs he sees that go on inside and out of the ring.
-
It's the long delayed 3 disc (plus 1 DVD) set of outakes, demos, early recordings by the band.

Damn Best Buy's selling 24 Season 1 for 12.99!!!! And I thought I got a good deal when it was 14.99 on Amazon.

See, this is why I asked for Friday off from work

Anyone watching VH1 right now, they've got a special on called the 40 Least Metal moments. I did not know Mariah Carey covered Def Leppard...I must shoot myself now.
-
Thank God someone else noticed it too- I tried to tell anyone who would listen that "Why Don't You Get a Job" was a complete lift of "Ob-la-di Ob-la-da", they called me mad, MAD THEY CALLED ME
-
Didn't HW get the memo, it's a black trenchcoat affair
-
They had a wooden cross propped up against the ring ropes and had Sandman tied to it with a barbed wire crown around his head
-
Seeing that crucifixtion angle, given what has happened over the last few years, it's still shocking to see that
-
Watching this program makes me want to get out all my old ECW tapes
-
Picked it up with my free RVD figure today at Best Buy

Check on the belt shot

That's enough of a reason to DQ somebody at this point right?
