    Nashville

I just felt like posting a quick topic on one of my favorite films of all time, Robert Altman's tour-de-force "Nashville" (1975). Quick synopsis- the film has no plot- merely it chronicles 5 days following 24 assorted characters throughout the city of Nashville. From Country singers to political fundraisers, from mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, young and old. It's just a fascinating film, the kind you can let play and you feel enveloped by the characters (no doubt helped by Altman's 8-track soundtrack designed to pick up multiple conversations going on around). The songs were written by the actors and most of the film was improvised. I urge any cinema lovers to seek the film out and watch it (pick up the DVD if you can find it). Any other lovers of this work of art?

Ahhh I'm torn, RAW vs watching the Reds potential sweep of the Astros. They got a 3 run lead right now, top of the 7th, I'll check over during commercials. If it was against Smackdown, it'd be a no-brainer.

It was nice when they were in 1st at the beginning, but it's so much more satisfying to see them fall and then claw their way back to best in the nationals (tied) and tied for best in the league.

    Airline

Does anyone else watch this show. It's a TV crew that just films problems and stuff at various airports across America. It's great because it does what's best about "reality" TV- Showing regular people acting stupid! I love it and if any producers are looking for a similar concept I submit- "SuperMarket!". You can show it on the Food network- there's plenty of stuff that goes on at the Grocery store I work at that could provide tons of funny stuff to air.

The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread

I like the idea of 2-3 2hr episodes, I have a theory of bringing "24" to the big screen in 12 2hr serials released into theaters once a month. It'd be ambitious, and give the show a chance to let Jack Bauer let it all loose.
  22. This Tuesday saw the release of four new sets in the "Walt Disney Treasures" series- "Mickey Mouse in Living Color, Volume 2", "The Chronological Donald, Volume 1 (1934-1941)" "TomorrowLand, Disney in Space and Beyond" and "On the Front Lines". I picked up the Mickey set and the Front Line set. That one is the real treat. It features all the propoganda, educational and entertainment shorts Disney did during WWII. Of course some of the cartoons are un-PC with gross characatures of Germans and Japanese, but they're presented uncut and i8n historical context. Also included is "Victory through Air Power", Walt's 1943 Animation/Live Action love letter to winning the war with airiel stratagy. I love the whole Walt Disney Treasures series. It's some of the best stuff released on DVD. Anyone else else got the sets? (recent or previous ones).

    DVD Releases

I wholeheartly recommend getting "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" 2 disc set, the transfer looks beautiful (almost as good as "Once Upon a Time in the West"). I also picked up "The Great Escape" 2 disc set and tomorrow I'm getting the Walt Disney Treasures- Behind the Front Lines.
