Dana White is fucking drooling right now. I have NO IDEA how Lashley would pass a real drug test, but if he could, with enough training he could be a force.

Two years ago, I rooted on the Seahawks for rather obvious reasons if you read my posts in football threads. Last year, I rooted on the Colts because Peyton Manning entertains me greatly. This year, I'm rooting on the Patriots because I want to see history. I don't really get sport hate. The team that wins the Super Bowl is the best team of the year. In fact the two teams that make the Superbowl are the two best of the year by virtue of defeat. The #1 in the AFC against the #1 in the NFC. Isn't that enough of a draw? I mean, you also have a chance at seeing a team do what no other has ever done. I can't see why you'd hate a team that much to not want to see them do it or at the very least TRY to do it. I'm really looking forward to this game. It should be a great game if the Giants can keep the Patriots from scoring too often and if Eli Manning continues to have such a great run.

...Honestly, why hasn't anyone killed those people yet? I mean, if their THAT in touch with god, then you'd really be doing them a favor. And saving us all from having to deal with their rampant idioicy.

I fucking *CALLED* what they'd do with Nakamura. Where's my damn picture with a cookie? NJPW might not even do that well on this upcoming Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan show. Nakamura going into this match immediately is a bad idea. He needs time to establish himself on Angle's level. Nakamura's never had that opportunity as a top guy. The fans aren't really behind him either. He was pushed too hard at first, they spent forever rebuilding him, and he's been programmed as a heel. The fans just don't CARE about "IWGP Champion Shinsuke Nakamura" as it is. Tanahashi or Nagata being IWGP champ against Angle would have meant a lot more. They've also booked themselves into kind of a corner. If Nakamura beats Angle, it won't mean a whole lot as it current stands. If Nakamura LOSES to Angle, then Nakamura's toast as a draw. He had one reign that went no-where, a second will send him into Tenzan-land. You don't come back from those types of reigns, it never works. Even when someone like Kawada finally got his big reign, it didn't mean anything. If you're first few reigns are botched/fucked up, then you are tainted goods. Speaking of Tenzan, and going into non-NJPW discussion. There's some interesting things going on. Tenzan has vanished from NJPW shows. He's either injured (highly possible) or there are rumors that AJPW is trying to court him. Tenzan will never work as a top draw, but he could easily boost AJPW's upper midcards. Another interesting development, is Keiji Muto is using his influence to fuck with NJPW. He brought Tanahashi onto his talk show and discussed joining AJPW. This has a few implications. First, everything Muto's teased on that show has *HAPPENED* none of it's been hyperbole. For him to publically court the idea is massive. Secondly, Tanahashi rejected his first NJPW contract talk. Several wrestlers do this, but with the timing, it could mean something. And Thirdly, there's a rumor that Tanahashi will be working an upcoming AJPW big event in a tag match with Muto. If NJPW were to lose Tanahashi, or he goes FREE, it would have MASSIVE repercussions on the business right now. Tanahashi is the guy now, there's no one (outside of Kobashi) with a higher rank of visibility. He could make a killing freelancing.

It's actually making me really, really angry that I can't find any coverage of this on ANY of the news channells. Maybe I missed it, but jesus fuck. He JUST DIED. Why not stop talking about the election for five minutes and cover something that is relevant *TODAY*? Inside Edition litterally had a three minute peice and then moved on. I know I shouldn't expect anything from those shows, but god damn. Cancel the rest of the fucking thing and at the very least do a makeshift coverage of it.

I just now heard about this. Totally caught me off guard. I saw something saying "Heath's family says he did not commit suicide" and I went "...what? Heath? There's only a few of those..." and then went looking. Damn shame. It'll be really sad if it comes out it was an accidental overdose of sleeping pills or something to that effect.

It's how the Eliminator is placed, I think. There's nothing really easy about it. The swim to the climb to the hand bike to the barrell roll (Which Ninja Warrior shows may be one of the hardest things in the competition) to climbing the pyramid to that devil treadmill thing. There's really nothing on it that gives them a breather at all. Even the zipline is short and then they drop with force that probably makes them lose the air in their lungs. It's a devil course of stamina.
-
Wolf is great in Pyramid because he seemingly has no regard for their health or his. He POUNCED the guy at one point, then picked him up and just fucking HURLED him off. Some of the Gladiators don't really wanna hurt anyone, but Wolf? Fuck that.

It's the same plot and characters, so I don't think it's radically different. If fighting and romantic stuff being on an equal footing isn't for you, then yeah, it probably wouldn't be a great read.

I didn't think the Giants could win, but they did. However, I'd argue this game was more or less Green Bay beating themselves. CONSTANT penalties (I think one sequence saw them get the line for the same thing three/four times in a row without a play being done), abandoning the run, and Farve reverting for whatever reason. But good for the Giants. They proved me wrong. However, I don't see how a 18-0 New England team is going to lose. I never cared who made it from the NFC. New England was not going to lose. This really changes nothing because Green Bay would have lost to them as well. Dallas would have. Seattle would have. Anyone who won the NFC would and will lose. You litterally have a team that is playing for something that NO other team has ever done against a team that is *just* playing for the Superbowl. There's also the fact that New England beat the Giants, and please don't use that "Giants had nothing to play for!" line because they played to their BEST in that game. And still lost. For as much hate as New England gets, I'll be rooting them on. I want to see history. I've said that from like...week six. I want to see a team go undefeated. So I'll be the only person online doing so, but I will be rooting them on.

My point wasn't really about Soul Society because that was explained. In the next major arc, random people just hover for no apparent reason. Not just Ichigo. It happens to the Shinigami in that arc too, when only a few of them should fly (Hitsugaya comes to mind in his Bankai). It's just...weird. I'd advocate Inuyasha for manga, myself. The story seems like it's going to be ending soon, so now would be a good time to binge on it. It's an entertaining read.

Aizen, Gin, and Tousen have absolutely nothing to do in the Bound arc. They come up with a reasoning why their not in there. Everything they do in the Bound arc is either undone in the end, or doesn't matter in the overall framework. It's a filler arc. Nothing substantial or meaningful is accomplished. Given how boring it is, it's amazing the damn show wasn't cancelled during the arc. As all bad filler does, it plays fast and loose with the universe it exists in, and changed canon to reflect it's need to be coherent...but everything's whitewashed by the end. There's only been three times when I quit watching Bleach for a significant amount of time: The Ichigo/Ikkaku fight (Something about this fight bugged the hell out of me back then. It makes sense NOW, but back then it was like "...why's the fight going four episodes? Who the hell IS this guy?!") The Entire Bound arc (I'm including multiple stops. I nearly walked away entirely like...five times) and recently I had a pause around...120-something during some filler. Like I said...If you can accept that nothing in that arc matters, and it's just a 50+ episode time waste, it's not too bad...it's just reeeeeeally boring. Zaraki has a cool moment though. And yes. Zaraki's my favorite too. I just liked how during the final bits of the Soul Society arc, the only reason he sides with Ichigo during the whole final bit is because A) Ichigo beat/drew him and B) Beating on other Captains made him happy. His reasoning went no further then that.

I don't even know what Stevenson can take from that loss. There's nothing to build on. BJ Penn was just BETTER in every possible way. BJ Penn having zero respect for Sherk, and not even HIDING it made me laugh.

Honestly, I'd skip the Bound arc. If you do, the series never has a significant dip in quality. Although you'll still notice the randomness of the hover issues. Oh, and when their hovering and get hit...they skid on air. With like...clouds coming up in the place dust would on the ground. Hard to explain without seeing it. The current arc is close to the level of the Soul Society arc...I don't think it has the complexity that that arc did, but it's close. Still has a looooooong way to go though before the arc ends so it could get more complex.

I'd argue that the Soul Society arc of Bleach is up there as one of the better "arcs" in fighting Anime, up there with Kyoto in Kenshin. It's long, but they know where their going. They also never forget to remind the viewer of what the end-goal is despite how long it is. The show never loses itself in what it's doing. Every fight in the show makes sense too, there's nothing that happens in the arc that just...happens. Everything achieves something in terms of how the storyline plays out. I'd also say all the backstory on the characters really makes you care when everything gets going at full-bore near the end. After that, the show falls off a fucking cliff though. The Bound Arc is 100% filler, and easily one of the most BORING arcs I've ever seen. It's not even bad enough that you can get angry at like the Post-Christain stuff in Kenshin. It's just...ungodly boring. And it's long, like 50+ episodes. It just...never feels like it's ending. The current arc is pretty good. With the newest translated episode it actually feels like it's getting to a strong point...but the show baffles me. For whatever reason, the show has lost internal consistancy. Ichigo, as a character, cannot fly. Yet for whatever reason, at random spots, they'll show him just...hovering in the air. What makes this stupid, is it's not consistant. One minute he's hovering in the air like he has a jet pack, and then next he's staring at an opponent who CAN fly in despair because he cannot. It's like they suddenly went "...HEY! Let's have him fly here!" and then forget about it five minutes later.

NJPW's not in a position to pour money into anything. Despite being the #1 promotion in Japan, their not the strongest financially. If Yukes hadn't bought them, there's no telling where they'd be right now. Yukes, atleast for awhile, was willing to pour money into NJPW but they've really gone back to a minimalist style. Outside of the Tokyo Dome and the Tanahashi/Goto show, they really don't put themselves in positions of great risk. NJPW has been trying to build from within since Choshu took over in 2006, and it's starting to pay off. I think it's arguable about NJPW offering more then AJPW...In terms of exposure in Japan, yes...but AJPW's stock has siginificantly risen in the last year or two. I'd say Nakajima could get more over in America then anyone NJPW has outside of Minoru or Milano. Kondo would be just as effective as well, not to mention TARU who actually wrestles in a shirt with the word "HEEL" on it. They could even build an entire PPV around The Great Muta's first PPV match in America in years.

I think it's much more likely that he does their syndicated show, and shows up on Impact once while they go "LOOK ITS IWGP CHAMPION SHINSUKE NAKAMURA WHAT IS HE DOING HERE?!?!?" and then he's never seen again.

Kimbo vs. Tank pretty much tops any other fight confirmed for this year in a "...Holy fuck awesome" type of way. You KNOW someone's walking out of that cage knocked the fuck out. Their conference call only made me wanna see that fight more. Kimbo relating fighting Tank to screwing a porn star, and Tank being insulted that Kimbo said he drinks beer (He can afford Vodka, he insists) made that a must watch.

New Japan are fucking IDIOTS to be letting NJPW book Tiger Mask and Nakamura. Tiger Mask is fine...kind of, but to send your world champion to TNA when the lead booker is Vince Russo is SUICIDE. Nakamura won't connect with US fans, while Tanahashi would easily fit in...Plus, you wouldn't have to be afraid of TNA dicking around your world champ in that case. Their only hope is that Jeff Jarrett doesn't allow Russo to get away with BS, because he'll try.
-
Elite XC is already building towards Ken and Frank Shamrock's fight, somewhere in December. They obviously know that'll be their big "break through fight" if they ever have on. Kimbo versus Tank will be awesome for the one minute it lasts before Tank gasses and Kimbo beats him to death.

NWA Wrestling Showcase - premieres January 16th on Colours
Hawkius Maximus replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in General Wrestling
I made it up to the beginning of the Flag match... Hidaka vs. Perkins was really just Hidaka's show. He did everything in his power except for holding Perkin's hand to carry him. Perkins didn't look horrible, but he did way too many rolls and "fancy" things instead of actually wrestling. Match was Hidaka. Change him and this was bad. That beach bum guy was Rob Conway, looking extra kickass with gunglasses and long hair. The flag match didn't start well at all when I realized I COULD NOT SEE THE MEXICAN FLAG because it was OFF SCREEN. The Ryan and Karl wasted time, and then teased walking out...in a flag match. The Luchadores taunted them, and then said "Hey, lets grab the flag!" and then walked almost ARM IN ARM to the flag. At which point, Karl and Ryan, who had been LEAVING suddenly went "Oh shit!" and rushed back. I gave up at that point. I'll try again next week, but there wasn't much to keep me watching. -
...It's always amusing how Japanese promotions NEVER forget shit like that. They always have to avenge things...Such as a few years back, New Japan brought in an Australian team for ONE SHOW, so they could do a "WORLD CUP REVENGE" match with the Japanese team winning. AJ will be lucky if he makes it 13 minutes against Tanahashi. The difference in rank between them is huge now.

Live in generally just seems slow to me. Even when it's working okay, things take awhile to load, which is a drastic departure from when I got my high speed internet at first. Last night, I was playing Skate with friends, and the entire system seemed to shut down. Kicked us all out of the game, and nearly locked up my 360. Just weird shit.

Yay! That means I might be able to save up enough to get a Wii and SSB:B not too long after it gets out~!
