    NFL WEEK ELEVEN- Proving grounds.

That video before the game was a real "Do it for the gipper" moment. Then they immediately threw an Int, and the Patriots scored. The Patriots are so awesomely evil.

New Japan at the Tokyo Dome on 1/4

Manabu and Abyss will be fun if nothing else. Manabu isn't a good wrestler, but he's whacky enough to be fun. Him putting Abyss in the Argentine Backbreaker will get the fans going. As of right now, I'm expecting Nakamura to beat Makabe and then beat Tanahashi to get the IWGP title. That was where they were going before Nakamura's injury in the G-1. If Nakamura's back up to shape 100%, I expect them to continue that path.

    The Writer's Strike

I fail to see how the writers are at fault at ALL for workers being laid off. That makes no sense whatsoever. The studios are the ones who refuse to pay the writers what their due for new media. It's the studios that contract all those workers. And it's the studios that are now threatening to, or are, cutting workers as a pressure policy to get writers to cave. How the hell are the writers responsible for that? They are doing what they need to do for themselves. If anyone should be angry, they should be angry at the studios for being total douches and cutting workers who have no bearing on this at all. If I was a writer in that strike, I wouldn't give two fucks about the studios actions even if it means the firing of people you work with. You are not the one doing it. You are the one fighting for YOUR career. If other people think it's your fault for not letting the studios ram it to you, then let them. They are being stupid. It's not the writers who are firing people who are innocent. It's the studios doing.

    How do you stay awake?

For a long period of time, I could function off two hours or less per night. No problem. About the time I started college a few years ago, I started trying to get more sleep. For a time I had a really good sleep schedule going, but that's long past. I normally cannot get lasting sleep anytime before one AM. If I try before that, even with sleeping pills, I will wake up and be unable to get back to sleep. In the last few months, my sleep schedule had completely fucked up, meaning even with a full day's worth of work, and staying up the entire day, I can't manage to fall asleep no matter how hard I try until four to five AM or later. The weird thing about this, is when I wake up I'm a zombie. I'm tired, I have no energy, I'm usually in some form of pain. By midday no matter how much sleep I've gotten, I'm ALWAYS dead tired and even a nap won't help...and yet if I survive that, by about...ten, maybe eleven, something in my body clicks. I suddenly have energy, even if I'm on 20+ hours of straight being awake. It's the weirdest thing. I think I've conditioned my body to get a second surge of energy in that time period, since that's when I normally write essays and the like. By about three to five, it usually wears off, but sometimes not enough for me to go to sleep. A few weeks ago, I had an insane case of insomnia. I could not sleep no matter what I did. I took sleeping pills when I went to bed, and I'd just power through them. I went five straight days of litterally maybe an hour or less of sleep, while still trying to do school work and other shit. I was a MESS by the end of it. Anyway, the best way to get going during the day is activity. Lift some heavy shit. Go for a run. Do something like that, that gets your body going. It won't last forever, but it can help you get through tough parts. Another solution: Slap yourself as hard as you possibly can. Pain wakes the body up, and the pain will shock you into not feeling tired. If you hit yourself hard enough, you wont' feel tired for a good while. Because your cheek will hurt like a sonofabitch for a pretty long time.

    Xbox 360

I could be wrong about the warranty. I haven't gotten everything set up on Xbox repairs yet to check...but I'm pretty sure it says that they've given me a new one for this new system. As for COD2...I really have no idea why they sent me that.

    Xbox 360

I got the 360 today...Vast improvement over the old system. This is much quieter. The old one sounded like it was gonna take off in flight. This one doesn't even really make any noise. They also gave me a one month Gold Subscription. An appology letter. A brand new warranty. AND Call of Duty 2. I think they just made me into an even bigger fan of the console with all that. I just got done playing Call of Duty 2...Fun game. I'm very new to these intelligent squad realistic based shooters. I've only really played a few of the Rainbow Six games (Which I found the AI to be pretty stupid), and the Medal of Honor: Airborne demo. So new experience for me.

"Fuck an NSAC. Shit happened." Yeah, like that fight not counting. Gomi didn't train. That coupled with Diaz being IDIOTIC enough to take Weed close enough to the fight to test positive gets rid of any sympathy I have for him in that situation. The biggest win of his career, and his stupid ass fucked it up. It's rightfully a NC because he broke the rules in a state that can reverse decisions. He knew the risks. Gomi actually training would RAPE Nick Diaz as he is right now. As it was, he broke Diaz's face even while he was completely gassed. If Gomi actually trained, and was in top shape, against the Nick Diaz that just fought KJ Noons, it would be an even bigger asskicking.

I shouldn't have picked the Saints. I waited until the Chargers played the Raiders to pick them too for this reason. But still...the zero and eight RAMS, and they fucking lose off a four win streak. Jesus. Making the final three is good, so yay.

    2007 NFL Survivor Pool

Rams are seemingly playing good, and the Saints seem to be playing horribly, I'm following the game on NFL.com. Saints are worthless if they can't beat the Rams in their home arena though. Annd Rams score again. Fuck j00 Saints. As a Seattle fan, I just can't see picking Seattle to beat the Niners 100%. There's always something WEIRD about their games. Not to mention that Seattle hasn't looked very good a few times this year. I really wouldn't be surprised to see the Niners get a last minute FG or something to win. This could end up being more interesting then I thought it would.

I'm really surprised I'm the only one who did Saints/Rams. Been a pretty damn safe pick so far. Just pick against the Rams. Only worry point is they got Jackson back. Seattle/Niners is too risky for me. It's not that long ago that the Niners kept having miracle days and beating Seattle...Green Bay vs. Minnesota would be too. This'll be interesting. I'll be embaressed if I picked a jobber game and get eliminated.

I dunno how people can say that Kimbo fight was worked. I've seen that on a few boards. He fucking Misawa-ed him with that elbow. Noons winning was great too. It showed that while Diaz's style can win fights, against another high level striker, he's going to get picked APART. Noons was dancing around him, and just whacking him everytime he'd use his zero-punch-power jabs. It was awesome.

    Xbox 360

New update on the 360 situation: Xbox Repair is saying they have shipped the 360 back to me today. That means they had the unit for a maximum of one day. I think they received it today, and it's already being sent back. A part of me is excited...but there's also warning bells going off in my head. I did everything they told me to, but this quick turn around says the problem was either really easy to fix, they are just giving me another unit, or their shipping it back without repair due to finding internal tampering. As I've stated before, I bought the 360 off Ebay in "Like new condition" which we've since determined to be "bullshit". Now the possibility becomes that I've been further screwed by the seller/previous owner having went into the system and tampered with it. If the system HAS been tampered with, I'm not entirely sure what to do about it. My only options would be to contact the seller, or go through ebay/paypal. At this point, I'd rather get my money back from the seller if that is the case then deal with getting another unit from them. I'd ALSO like to keep the defective 360 if only for the goddamn trouble I've been put through. That way if I got my money, I could just spring for a new warranty and get it fixed...but I somehow doubt that would happen. This has been another installment in: "The ongoing trials of Hawk"

    UFC 81: Breaking Point

I honestly have no idea how you'd reach this conclusion. Frank Mir has gassed in every single fight he's ever had that's gone past the first round. There isn't a single one where he looked even remotely fresh after the first round. Frank Mir is a one round fighter, as his record indicates. Mir's even gassed in a few fights that were in the first round. I'm not saying Frank Mir isn't a good fighter (or was), but saying that Brock Lesnar who has been in competitive high level sports in some form his ENTIRE adulthood is going to gass at the same time or before Frank Mir is insane. Brock getting KO'd, okay. Submittied? Okay. Losing a decision? Okay. Brock gassing? No way. I'll even go as far as to say that if Brock were to gass, I'd never post in this forum again due to how wrong I was. I'm that confident that Brock Lesnar will not gass in this fight.

    UFC 81: Breaking Point

Brock is high risk, high reward. This isn't Japan. UFC doesn't give their fighters jobbers to beat on nine times out of ten. That hurts them at times, but it also means they can't be accused of coddling stars. Brock is going to be under the microscope big time. He's a former pro-wrestler. The steroid allegations are going to fly all over the place. By putting Brock against Mir, it's a huge gamble but a smart one. If Brock loses UFC can just say that Brock lost to a high level fighter. If Brock wins, it immediately throws him into UFC's title hunt. No one honestly knows what will happen. Brock could get punched in the face once and then mentally give up. Or it could enrage him like he'd sometimes get in pro-wrestling. Who really knows? Brock's been training for MMA now for so long that I can't even conceive him not having at the very least rudamentary skills in striking and submissions. But weirder things have happened.

    UFC 81: Breaking Point

I really don't think losing to Brandon Vera by KO, and then beating Antoni Hardonk by submission is showing he's "back on the rise". I mean, seriously. Hardonk is 5-4, and lost two out of his three fights in the UFC. He's also a striker who hasn't really shown high level ground work in the UFC. Before that Mir lost to Cruz and took Dan Christison to a decision. 2-2 and neither of his wins have been that impressive. I think if Brock comes in like he did on the K-1 Dynamite show, Mir should beat him...but that will have been over six months ago by the time of this fight. We really do not know what Brock will be like. What we do know from his short debut, was he has strong takedowns, good wrestling position, and hard g&p. Beyond that, everything else is up in the air.

    UFC 81: Breaking Point

I don't think this is going to be an easy win for either man. Although Mir winning is more likely. Brock's an X factor right now. No one knows what he'll be like, other then he'll likely immediately shoot in. Mir has decent to good standup, and good submissions. On the ground, he might be able to get a submission but it'll be difficult if only for Brock's size and power. That's ignoring the fact that I'd assume he's been training submissions. I really wouldn't be surprised to see Brock immediately shoot in, take Mir down and then either slowly grind out a three round decision, or win a stoppage from ground and pound. I highly doubt this stays standing longer then a minute or two either way it goes.

I'm following the Jets/Redskins game on NFL.com...Jets just had to punt. Honestly. If the Redskins manage to lose this, this will kick off years of irrational hatred for their team, and their players.

The further this goes along, I may have screwed myself by using the strong teams to survive. I still have a few good teams to fall back on though, such as the Colts and Packers. The Rams made that stupid game way more close then it had any right to be though.
