    PRIDE in USA, October 21st!

I didn't realize adding "pro" in front of "wrestler" made such a major difference when this is primarily a "pro"wrestling forum with a MMA subfolder. My appologies.

Coleman's actually a half decent wrestler. Not sure where he learned it, but I've seen worse shooters turned wrestlers. He should really think about doing some tours before he quits "fighting" all together.

Bidding War In Japan For Kurt Angle?

Wrestling is a business. Angle doing a one shot or two here and there is money in Japan due to his credentials. Angle and WWE are the reasons Angle's in such shape. Now it's just the Japanese promotions trying to make money. There is no such thing as ethics in wrestling I'm afraid.

    I hate cutscenes though.

I figured SO3 was a bust since I remember it has a huuuuge build to the actual storyline, and alot of cut scenes. I'd probably try and kill something out of frustration with it. Kinda sucks since SO2 was good.

Ultimate Fighter Season 4 the thread...

I think Jeremy snagged Noah's "Stupidest man in TUF history" medal tonight. Noah atleast quit for his girlfriend, length disregarded. He atleast knew the woman. Jeremy violated the rules when he knew he'd be sent home to bang some chick he met four hours before. Only thing in Noah's favor in this race was that he was in the semi-finals already, but I think the situations around their departure lean more heavily to Jeremy's side.

For the RPG fans here... Whats a good RPG I could pick up? Generally, I'm not a huge RPG fan but I've finished a few. The key for me, is they have to have either a superb storyline from nearly the beginning, or a different style of fighting / playing to keep me interested. I've beaten Chrono Trigger, SMRPG, Star Ocean 2 off the top of my head, and nearly beat a few others. Like FF6. I'm also not a fan of cut scenes, and actually kinda prefer text to voice acting, although I doubt that many big name RPG's anymore have no voice acting. Generally, less fluff more gameplay. I'm picky, as you can see. I'm thinking maybe Shadow Hearts, Disgaea, a SMT game, or something like Dark Cloud. Just not sure. Any suggestions?

    PRIDE in USA, October 21st!

The kickboxing does, yes. K-1 now does MMA under the name "HEROS" though, which has taken a chunk out of PRIDE. They've basicly used PRIDE"s own tactics against them with slick production, storylines, and characters. And now that it's been mentioned, it's kinda funny that PRIDE's never done a tag team shoot. I remember hearing one promotion tried it.

    PRIDE in USA, October 21st!

It seems like you haven't followed DSE a whole lot...Basicly, PRIDE has hijacked every element of Pro-Wrestling that can be applied to MMA. Storylines, production, characters, they've taken all the good ideas and left the bad. Before PRIDE went "boom" with the media in terms of importance, MMA never really hurt Pro-Wrestling, atleast K-1 did not but it could be argued that it was a different beast. Simply put, PRIDE took everything that worked about Pro-Wrestling, amped up the glitz and glamour even higher and threw it on an unbooked event. Take away the real fights, and DSE *IS* pro-wrestling.

Great Dana White interview: Rampage coming to UFC???

The problem with Dana trashing PRIDE is...it doesn't matter. From what I've read, it was UFC refusing to pay Silva for the fight, and instead insisted on PRIDE doing so for UFC. Which to me, seems rather silly but who knows the full story In any event, the fact is PRIDE got exactly what they wanted. Silva came out, was treated as a gigantic star and now they've had their mention on their biggest rival's show. Genius. PRIDE basicly used UFC to get exposure, and in the mid-term made them look foolish. PRIDE looses nothing from this, only gains.

    Madden NFL 07

Is this worth getting when the only thing you really do is Franchise? I already have 2006, so if there weren't many improvements in that department then there really isn't much use in me picking it up. Plus, I only play it on the PC, and since I have no controller, playing games is virtually impossible at times.

    PRIDE in USA, October 21st!

Tyson means little to nothing in the US anymore, but abroad? Tyson's still a gigantic name. PRIDE can use Tyson to not only boost their falling status in Japan, but also use him to bridge into other markets with exhibition fights. Tyson won't fight in anything but boxing, and PRIDE won't put their top guys against him. That's just something you gotta accept.

    WWF Observer notes

That was Solie's style though, he presented what was happening like an authentic sport event. None of that over-selling crap that we got today. Solie just was straight down the line. A straight shooter if you will. I love Gorilla, but there were only two teams where he excelled. With Jesse, and with Heenan, because they knew how to play off his stuff. Jesse's mocking of Gorilla's body part announcements never gets old, while Gorilla was one half of probably the single greatest announcing moment ever with the 92 rumble. But with anyone else? Gorilla got sucked down with them into suckitude.

    OAO Impact Thread - August/24th/2006.

I think the last few weeks of TNA has been really solid, Hebner stupidity aside. I don't have a problem anymore with Jeff holding the title...It's not like he's being god-pushed like Hunter usually is when he's champ. Jeff's being pushed as completely unworthy who uses treachery and underhanded tactics to come out as champ. Fuck, Jay Lethal nearly beat him. The biggest problem is TNA doesn't capitalize on momentium, in that way they are alot like WWE. Difference is WWE can get away with it due to their massive market share. TNA should be having Joe absolutely march through the roster every week, he should be beating someone in a match. Same thing with Senshi, and they should be pushing Sabin & Lethal as the two top faces of the X Division for matches against Senshi. They MAY be wising up, because they've latched onto LAX who have considerable momentium, and are pushing them exactly like how they should be pushed. If TNA showed more consistantly, and was good every week they'd be fine. Problem is, TNA has went through weeks of bad shows, which then make the good shows have lesser ratings. You could do the best episode ever, you won't get good ratings for it, but for the next few weeks. TNA needs to remember that and go in that direction. And for GODS SAKE, stop taping more then two shows a week. The crowd SUCKS after the second hour, and makes the TV show look like shit.

    Kurt Angle released!

...No one, outside of maybe two people have talked about "indy dream matches" Angle's going to wrestle. If you think otherwise, then you have a REALLY huge rude awakening coming real soon.

    Kurt Angle released!

Angle's GONNA wrestle. Anyone who believes him when he says he won't is a fool. In 90 days, Angle's gonna be freaking out over not wrestling, and most of his minor injuries are going to be healed. He's probably going to delude himself that he's fine, despite his neck being fucked. When those 90 days are up, Angle's going to probably work as much for indies and Japan as he can. TNA he might not do due to not wanting to get on Vince's bad side, but you never know. If TNA throws a good offer, and then dangles a few big matches in front of him, the possibility of him going there is high. Fact is, Angle is a competitor. He considers wrestling his chance to prove himself, and without it, he's going to go insane. This isn't a case where he's going to go "Oh, I see now...I've been a fool. I'm gonna get everything straightened out!". No way. By the end of the 90's days, Angle may be a bit sharper in his head, but that burning desire will still be there, and he WILL wrestle, and if he ends up in ROH, NOAH or NJPW, then you had best pray for him, because with no restrictions on what he'll do? Angle's gonna break shit out that he's never done before, and possibly hurt himself REAL bad.

    Kurt Angle released!

Anything can be reasoned if you apply logic to it. Espcially in the dirty ass world of wrestling. TNA can look at it thusly: Smaller schedule, means more downtime for Angle, which means he'll have more time to get his life in order and get his family back. While they conviently ignore that the man needs months away from the business altogether to fully recover. Plus, I'm sure they could think something like "Sting's a good man, and highly respected. If anyone can help Angle get off his problems, it'll be Sting!" Just sayin, ya know.

    Community College

As someone who's entering his third year of community college... It's not that bad really. When I first went to the college here, I was immediately considered someone of interest due to my writing abilities, and the way I can explain the concepts of writing far better then any of my instructors. I had people asking me to give them advice, and I basically carried all my fellow students through two English classes with the worst goddamn teacher I've ever seen (HE RANTED ABOUT WAFFLES FOR AN HOUR. The class WAS ONLY AN HOUR LONG!), but since I haven't taken any English classes for over a year, I've kind a lost that status. It's not a bad experience. I show up, do my shit, help people get through the classes then I'm out. I generally don't study with other people if I can help it, and if a situation arises that we need a "leader" (like Sociology, where we had "teams"), I generally step up for whatever reason. I think most people consider me a bit of an enigma. I don't talk about my life inless it's REALLY bothering me, and I don't ask for help from anyone. The major drawback for me is math, which is absolutely kicking my ass. I dunno how I managed it, but I've failed one math class twice in a row. This fall term will be my THIRD attempt. How the shit progresses is just odd, because at first, math was easy as fuck. Now it just confuses me. It doesn't help that I won't even ask the instructor for help, and instead consider myself a moron for not getting the concepts. Such is my mental state. Overall, it's been a good experience for me I think. I'm a social recluse, and generally dislike being around people I don't know, but it's gotten better as time has went on. The less I go though, the more I notice that my old tendencies are coming back, especially since I can't work due to my knee being fucked up massively. I'm also shifting focus this coming term. I realized that specializing in writing may make me a better writer, it won't, however, help me make any money. As such, I'm going to take a couple political / law classes and test that out. If nothing else, when the time comes I might be able to land a job as a columnist in a paper if I do well enough, and write books on the side since I think that's where my passion inevitably lies. All depends on how it works out, ya know? I also agree with the other people on the majority of Community College work being exceptionally easy. I’ve had a few bad grades, but that was mostly due to my own squandering. Every thing I’ve TRIED at, I’ve aced with pretty much flying colors. Everything but MATH, God I hate math. Just have courage with it, and remember that the people won't eat you or anything. God knows I panicked when I started going at first.

    OAO Impact Thread - August/24th/2006.

LAX is litterally, the best thing going in National American wrestling right now. It's hard to put my finger on it, but there's something just COOL about this incarnation of the group. On top of that, they make a good power & Speed team with brawling thrown in. Hernandez brings the big power moves, and Homicide finishes it off with his kickass moveset. The big thing about the team, is TNA seems to realize they've got something. LAX has a personalized intro, which is one of the cooler fucking things in Wrestling right now, and they just gave them the tag titles. That No DQ tag match was very well done, with LAX in control most of the time but unable to finish off AJ & Daniels without Konnan's help, who absolutely owns as their mentor/manager. He was born to play a role like this. The problem with this week's impact, was the crowd wasn't hot which is directly related to how much they tape in one day, the crowd just suffers burnout. On top of that, there wasn't anything really good beyond the Christian/Rhino encounter. Everything else was just...there. TNA needs to really work on that, because the first half of the show felt VERY dead. Nice Sting promo though, gotta say that.

    Kurt Angle released!

Really, while this should be a good thing for Angle, I don't think he's going to go down that route to self rebuilding. The second that Angle is available, the Japanese promotions are going to come calling. New Japan and NOAH both have interest in using Angle. Angle is considered by the Japanese to be one of the best American workers alive, and due to his credentials is a big name over there. If NJPW doesn't get Angle for a few shows I'll be shocked. NOAH would be suicide due to the fact that Angle would end up fighting the big dogs. Granted, Angle versus Kobashi or Misawa is a dream match...but I dunno if Angle would WALK away. Plus the sheer idea of Angle without any restrictions on what he does is absolutely frieghtening. The other thing, is TNA is going to throw money at Angle. Yeah, "Not the top promotion", or "Angle wants to work for the best", the fact is WWE won't take him back until he proves he's clean. TNA, sadly, won't have such a problem. They'll offer Angle a big deal, for a small schedule, and he'll likely accept. It'd be a gigantic pick up for TNA since Angle was still featured heavily when he was last seen. Only problem would be that I doubt Angle would attack WWE like Christian did. Nonetheless, it's still a major deal if Angle just appears out of tghe blue on an Impact. Ratings could spike to see him.

    The Youtube Thread

I like that tag match, if only for watching Muta. He does some shit that's really killer, like the Handspring elbow on the ramp, or never remaining in his corner. He just...kinda wanders around until Chono wants to tag out. Then you got the end where Muta busts out like three variations of the Mist, Chono finally just says "fuck it" and walks away. Plus, as Tenryu and Choshu are killing Chono, I love how they look back at Muta wondering WTF he's doing. Not to mention Muta chewing on the top rope. The end was Muta misting Antonio Inoki, who walked down to try and calm things down. Muta misted *GOD* basicly. I think it set up a match between Inoki & Muta, but I've never seen it. I think it's on Youtube.
