    Billy Gunn doesn't like HHH

I think a Honky Tonk Man comparison would be a better one for Billy Gunn. Zenk was at least a good jobber, Billy Gunn was good at mooning people and that was about it. Lets look at Billy's WWF career: Was in a shitty team with "brother" Bart. They were pushed because other than the New Rockers, Bodydonnas, and Godwins they were the only teams in WWF. The second Bulldog and Owen were paired and LOD the Headbanger showed up the SMoking Gunns disapeared. Billy turned on Bart in late 96 and was unover as a heel before becoming even more unover as Rockabilly. Road Dogg then saved Billy's career by being able to talk like a motherfucker. Billy was given the first gimmick with a curse word in it and was named "Bad Ass" Bill Gunn, before having it changed to teh far less heterosexual "Mr. Ass." Billy did his best to mimick HBK, but failed at every turn, although he did play a cocky heel reasonably well. The NAO were born in late 97, quickly given the tag titles by beating LOD, then being put over every team in WWF. NAO lost the titles to Foley and Funk at WM 14 only to gain them back the next night as they joined DX (a group of kliq hangers on, that HBK made popular). NAO was way over with the crowd and a big ratings draw. Then they turned Billy heel, unfortuanately for Billy, a certain former DX stablemate also turned heel at the same time and all the company's attention was focused on getting HHHim over instead. Billy failed to get over and was then put back in the NAO and once again became HHH's lackey. Billy hurt his shoulder and then returns in late 2000 as "The One" Billy Gunn. He quickly wins the IC title, but after nearly killing Benoit twice in one match he tapped to the crossface. Billy then went on to do a whole lot of nothing other than helping to make sure that the WCW guys didn't get over throughout 2001. In 2002 he was paired with Chuck Palumbo in a gay team. They won the tag titles a few times before revealing the gay thing was a work. When Goldust did that it pretty much killed his gimmick and it did the same for Billy. After this point, I can't remember a single thing he did, although I think he went back to being Mr. Ass before getting fired last year sometime. I can see why he would be pissed at HHH for the 99 heel push, being forced into a lackey role, and for HHH not protecting his job, but Billy never would have been able to hold his own in the ring with the big boys. He had bad matches with Chris Benoit for Christ's sake.

    Official TNA LockDown Preview 4/24/05

They've pushed AJ for a long time and finally jobbed him to Daniels, after they had several matches. To beat Daniels with anybody right now is counter-productive why push a guy that hard and put him over the best worker in the company only to beat him a month later? It makes no sense and makes both AJ and Daniels look bad. Plus, the X Title is the only one that means anything in the promotion if they start flipping it at every PPV it will kill the belt. I don't see why you would hate that argument. I would have no problem if Elix and Daniels had a long running feud that Elix won in the end.

    Hardcore Homecoming

Why, for telling the truth? I enjoyed ECW for time and enjoyed it for what it was, sloppy spotfests, make believe 5 Star matches, great promo work from Taz, Buh Buh, Douglas, and a few others, and generally good booking. That fact that Heymen has managed to convince so many people that RVD is a great worker (he is entertaining but not a great worker by any stretch of the imagination) is a testament to how good a booker he is.

    Hardcore Homecoming

Not really, if they did that it wouldn't really be an ECW show. What they need is four more matches that have cheese graters, barbed wire bats, shopping carts, and Nintendos and one match with two very overrated workers who will put on a gymnastics display that the mutants will clap for before having a sloppy spotfest. For the most part that is what ECW was. I enjoyed the product at one pint but I doubt I'd waste my time on it now. That said I have enough found mark memories to pick up WWE's show when it hits DVD for $15 at Walmart.

Official iMPACT! Preview weekend of 4/15/05

Shouldn't the world champ wrestle on this show once and a while? I would actually watch it or throw a tape in to see JJ wretle at this point because I've read so much negative stuff about him that I want to see if he can still have a decent match. I haven't seen the guy wrestle in about 3 years.

    Official TNA LockDown Preview 4/24/05

If it wasn't bad enough that every match was in a cage they had to make virtually every match a gimmick match on top of it. The point of a cage match is to keep the wrestlers in and prevent interferance. Now, how is that accomplished when they have a table match? Are they going to stack half a dozen tables in the corner of the little ring they use? Or is the thing going to spill out onto the floor, thus defeating the entire purpose of a cage match? Didn't they just put the belt on him last month after he chased AJ for ever? If they job Daniels now it makes both he and AJ look like shit. Daniels for losing his first big title defense and AJ for jobing to a loser.

    Storm/JBL/Holly dispute

OK, so he's in OVW in a tag team, why is he in WWE bitching about being in a tag team? Maybe I'm missing something here. Seems to me that he's lucky to have a job with WWE and bitching about his spot on the card at this point in his career is a stupid move to make.

    Posting Date for Living Anglelously

I don't mean to start trouble and I may have missed something but where was it posted before yesterday that the PPV was 4/24? I was assuming that there would be 4 weeks between shows and planned my angle that way. If it doesn't get changed I'll work around it.

    Road Warriors DVD

The gimmick is way too dated. It is based on a movie that came out in the late 70s/early 80s. People got sick of their act by 97 and WWF tried to update it with LOD 2000 which basically meant that Hawk went back to his original face paint, Animal wore short tights, and Sunny managed them. That type of gimmick wouldn't work, regardless of whether people saw it as a rip off or not, it wouldn't work because it is dated. Gimmicks like The Midnight Express would work, but LOD/Demolition/Powers of Pain type gimmicks are played out and old. Their time has passed, it happens to all gimmicks that are based on pop culture rather than constants in personalities. Flair, Rock, and Austin would work at anytime, Hogan, LOD, Sting, and Warrior were products of their generation.

RedSox Fans Show That They They Are

Wait a minute! Baseball exists outside of New York and Boston? My god, watching ESPN I would never have known. It doesn't. Baseball is played 26 times (19 regular season and 7 times in the ALCS) a year with half in Boston and the other half in the Bronx. The rest is just filler to give the teams a rest from beating the piss out of one another.

I'd bet that they'll insert the "Oh What a Rush!" WWF theme into all the matches, unless they have access to the song that Russo used in WCW.

3 shows between PPVs isn't enough to build a new angle properly, IMO.

I vote to move it back a week to May 1. It would help me out a lot both in terms of my angle and time.

    Road Warriors DVD

I think they wrestled the Steiners on Nitro in 96 once and that was about it. They may not have even had a match. LOD came back to WCW in early 96 gunning for the Steiners but then disapeared pretty quickly. I know they worked against Sting and Booker at Uncensored 96 and were part of Slamboree's Battlebowl. I'm really suprised that there isn't more WWF footage. I figured they would foresake a lot of AWA stuff in favor of a bunch of WWF squash matches. But, maybe they are learning from hoe badly they botched the nWo DVD. Nearly half of the main feature was WWF stuff and they only had Feb through March 2002 on the disc. They glossed over 4 years of the angles to devote half the disc to 2 months.

I'd just like to point out that this is the best PPV name ever. I wonder who came up with it? Will SG be able to recover from the brutal attack to wrestle at LA? Stay tuned! What's the date of the show?

    Howard Stern's a tool

The term is based on the thinking that Stern's show is like Russo's booking. People listen/watch to see what crazy shit will happen next. As opposed to having a consistant and coherant show.

It's Time That He Lets it Go

I didn't read through the whole thread so if this has been said already, I apologize. If they were to make election day a federal holiday I think it would actually decrease voter turnout. Giving people a Tuesday off is basically begging them to take a 4 day weekend. And if people are too stupid to not know that everybody votes on the same day then they are too stupid to make an informed decision as to who to vote for and should not be voting in the first place. And by saying that this happened in Democrat areas they are basically admitting that their supporters are retarded.

    Howard Stern's a tool

It's a little bit easier to syndicate a show like Rush's than it is a show like Howard's. He's still on, and leading, in every major media market. Just because he's not on in a bunch more little small towns in every state doesn't mean anything. Why? Because more people are interested in what Rush has to say than Stern? Horribly overpaying, LOL, Ok. Stern's contract is bigger, period. Possibly because they felt they needed to grossly overpay an aging inteclectual adolesant to get him off free radio and to take a chance at a new medium. That would be my guess. I never said they aren't, but at least they realize they are assclowns. Rush's fans don't realize he's just a puppet on a string for Republicans. Umm... Yes they do. Rush is a Republican and makes no bones about it. Although he does disagree with the President fairly often (or did last time I listened to him regualrly, which was last winter/spring). Did you ever notice no E! shows are ever on the list? He's still been the top rated show on E! for a long time now. Being the top rated show on a station that no one watches is not all that much of an accomplishment. He currently has around 12 million listeners and all they need is 1 million to sign up to just cover the cost of his contract, I think they'll get that. Possibly, I think there are enough morons who would pay $13 to listen to Stern for 30 minutes on their way to work. Mike touched on this earlier but the biggest difference between Rush and Stern is that Stern has a much better time slot. People are by and large in their cars while he's on and it's easier to get listeners when they are trapped. Rush has to get people at home to stop what ever they are doing and turn on the radio at noon. That is much harder. Obviously they have vastly different demographics. Rush's audience is mostly made up of older Republicans and Congressional Democrat's aides, Stern's is made up of younger people and adults who, like Stern refuse to grow up intelectually.

I used to really like his reviews and thought he was pretty funny and informed. I;ve since found people funnier and more informed to read. I still skim through his reviews because he occasionally gets a good quip in and I'm pretty familiar with how rates things so I know what I'm going to get. That sais he does pan good matches just because he doesn't like one or more of the particpants. He gave JBL/Eddy from Judgement Day 2 stars I think and said that without the blade it was worse. That was an awesome match with incredible intensity and near perfect execution (there was a blown spot and Eddy didn't sell the table bump hardly at all). Tim Cooke called him on it at his blog and gave a very detailed review of the match and SK's response was to call Cooke a "kook" and let his mutants rip on Tim. He can be good at times but he has allowed his hatred of certain people to affect his credibility as a reviewer.
  22. Does the place have a dome? IF not it would be too cold for an outdoor show in late March. Plus, I wouldn't wish a trip to Detroit on anyone, even HHH. I was there last summer and the place looks like Beruit, complete with burned out buildings. Lovely city, that Detroit and the roads are fabulous.

    Howard Stern's a tool

I too used to listen to Stern until he started with his anti-Bush drivel. I was actually listening to him while driving to college on 9/11/01. As far as Stern's relevance and popularity: It has declined steadily over the years. I'd be willing to bet that he gets very few new fans and the ones he has/had are leaving him. He has done the same show for 20 years. The "shock" is gone, scatological humor can be funny on occasion but 4 straight hours of it wrapped around "Bush is Hitler!" is way too much for me to take. The E! show, last I saw (a few years ago) pulled the highest rating on E! but it was only like a .7 or something. He got a Saturday night slot opposite SNL on CBS a few years ago and it was mercy killed pretty quickly. Stern of course blamed the network for his failiure. The show was the same as the E! show, just longer and had newer stuff. The network didn't cause people to not watch. His show did. Stern has almost no cross over appeal because he refuses to reach out to over people. He caters to degenerates and perverts for the most part. I don't have a problem with it and I was at one point a degenerate and a pervert. I don't give a shit if he's on or not. BTW, the person who compared Rush not getting fined to Stern. First off, Rush (who I'm not a huge fan off) does not have years of code violations, second off he appeals to an adult audience, and thirdly he's been attacked more ruthlessly by his political rivals than Stern had been by his. I don't recall anyone blaming the OK City bombing on Stern, Clinton and his minions tried to blame it on Rush, who as we know was a leader in the "Vast Right Wing Conspirisy."

Waltman shoots big time on TNA

But that would make Dustin the de-facto top heel in the company. He's nowhere near good enough to pull that off. Vince didn't even give him that spot when he was over and there was a shortage of good heels in 96. Dustin was best, IMO in 2003/03 WWE as Goldust. He seemed motivated and in shape, from what I've seen of him in TNA he is neither. Why is it that no one can come up with anythign other than "chap wearing Texican" as a non-WWE gimmick for the guy? He obviously needs a gimmick to allow his charisma to come through. If they ran with the Se7en gimmick in WCW he might have gotten over. Dustin is pretty worthless now-a-days without gold face paint and a wig.

    What should HHH do

If you book it so that he has an injury and then gets to come back fresh and win the world title with a new clan of lackeys, who he had the forethought to asemble before he came back, I think he might take the vacation (at least from in ring work). How does he llok bad in this in any way? Unless he's scared that ratings and buyrates will go up in his absence. ::Takes gun and heads for Stamford....three hours later gets arrested for attempted murder::
