Steven A got booted from 1050 in New York, they added Tirico in his spot and extended Michael Kay from 4-7 to 3-7. Also, they added Brian Kenny as Max Kellerman's partner a while back. Seems they are trying to become more NYcentric than national, since national radio does dick in NY (look back at Dan Patrick vs. Mike and the Mad Dog for instance)

Love what the Giants are doing so far. As I already mentioned, they strengthened, and added depth and youth to their secondary. Now they've hung onto Shockey and bought low on Mario Manningham, both of which have to stay straight and fly right - Shockey has no right to gripe in the huddle any more since it's been proven that they can succeed at the highest level without him, and Manningham has to keep himself clear of trouble, especially since they have so many other WRs as it is.

Listening to the ESPN radio draft show, they've said that it seems all but certain from different sources that it's going to go: 1. Long, Jake 2. Long, Chris 3. Ryan 4. McFadden 5. Gholston or a trade 6. McKelvin if Gholston is gone 7. McKelvin if he's there - possibly trade up to 5 for Gholston It seems Glenn Dorsey is getting splinters from falling down the ladder so fast.

Supposedly the Giants and Saints are very close on the Shockey for a 2nd rounder deal.

Joe Torre did not come up with the "Joba Rules." Nardi Contreras and Brian Cashman did, as a way to protect Joba from Torre abusing him like he had in the past with guys like Scott Proctor, Tanyon Sturtze, and Paul Quantrill to the point where they just weren't serviceable any more. It was just Torre who blabbed about it to the papers when he wasn't supposed to. There wasn't anything that great on the offseason market for relievers. They got Hawkins on a nice 1-year deal. They let Luis Vizcaino walk and they were able to get a type B pick for him.

To me, the rivalry is more intense (fan-wise) than I can ever remember it being. It's good old fashion hate, and even though Boston is on top right now, to me the fanbase is still suffering from insecurities over the Yankees. They are an obsessed people. (See: Idiot buries Boston jersey in YSIII concrete) It has also spurned an absolute inordinate amount of people in Northeastern Pennsylvania claiming themselves to be Red Sox fans. The coverage of it, of course, is absurd. I can't personally stand it as much as anybody else here. It doesn't help that for the large majority of the times they play each other each season, I have to deal with the national Fox or ESPN assclowns rather than the perfectly acceptable YES troupe. The worst part of this weekend was that at every turn, during each of the games, at several different points in each, they just HAD to tell me how great of a 3B Youkilis was, even though he is mostly a 1B. This was the theme of the weekend. YES, Fox, ESPN, and WCBS (radio).

What does dominant mean in this sense? A strikeout pitcher? I would assume that you can be dominant in other ways - like the way Wang is with groundballs and forcing GIDP's when he needs them. Although the downfall to that style of pitcher is that the Yankees defensively are not very good. They don't have a real strikeout guy in the rotation until either a) Hughes continues to progress or b) when Chamberlain becomes a starter. Pettitte, Mussina, and Kennedy aren't really going to K you.
