Wrestlers Who Should Have Held A Belt In a Company
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in General Wrestling
Kane deserved more than just a 1-day championship reign. Foley should have had at least a significant reign. He held it 3 times, but all for less than a month, and the third time was only for a day also. RVD should've won the title when he was mega over. -
I've been on this board very scarcely since I started school, but now I've been poking around on it more frequenlty recently and everybody's favorite member, anglesault is nowhere to be found it seems. Where'd he go?

The Yanks have had 18 scoreless innings in a row, getting a CG SO from Mussina Saturday, and today, err, May 8, Kevin Brown finally comes to life and the Yanks win a series for the first time in forever. Monday, it's Randy Johnson vs. ex-mates Seattle in the Bronx.

Most drastic gimmick changes for Wrestlers
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to Vern Gagne's topic in General Wrestling
Sparky Plug > New Midnight Express' Bombastic Bob > Bob Holly, JOB Squad > Hardcore Holly Even though he was the same character, the Rock's traits drastically changed when he initially turned face in 1999, no longer mocking the crowd, talking much more cartoonish/fast/high pitched, and using far more catch phrases, and speeding up pretty much everything he did, his entrance, his matches, even his song. -
Some people think that Schilling's bloody sock outing was the deciding game, but it was Game 6 not 7. (I know it was just last fall but some people are idiots)

Things that people remember incorrectly
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to a topic in General Wrestling
I remember Southern Justice. I also remember around 1999-2000 when the ratings were in the 7.0s and the following was unbelievable, a group of girls who were in love with the Rock would simply not believe he was ever a 'bad guy' let alone one in that very same year. -
Chappelles Show put on indefitie hiatus?
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to spman's topic in Television & Film
I never watched the first season, but I felt the second was full on hilarious until near the end, maybe the last 4 or so episodes were terrible. -
Every commercial break they pimp Kids On Deck as an Emmy winner, which HAS to be bullshit. That show is awful.

Juan Rivera didn't have a spot, their outfield was full with Matsui, Bernie, and Sheffield. Nick Johnson wasn't getting that much playing time behind Giambi who is locked in FOREVER and whoever was DHing at that time. Plus, Vazquez was traded for Randy Johnson. I think the trade worked out fine. The point is that it is another example of the Yankees dealing prospects in return for "ready now" players, trying to make a run at a World Championship. And now they are paying the price, because they could use Juan Rivera, they could use Nick Johnson, and hell, they could even use Randy Choate. Meanwhile, Vazquez's inability to pitch effectively cost the Yankees the ALCS, and now Randy Johnson is on the DL, and the Yankees are paying HIM for the next three years. Fun note from the 2003 Baseball Prospectus, concerning Nick Johnson.... "But a good sophomore seaspm os a must if he wants to avoid growing up to be a Washington Expo." Johnson went on to hit .284/.422/.472 for the Yankees that year, but was traded to Montreal anyway. The Yankees were doomed before Vazquez took the mound in Game 7. Vazquez didn't start Game 7, and came into the game in an impossible situation. He was a HR-prone pitcher against a HR-prone team, comes in with the sacks packed, and gives up a granny. Game blown open, series over, history in the books. Vazquez helped Brown finish the least clutch pitching performance I've ever seen, but he was dead in the water coming into the situation.

Strange Wrestling Exits

How about when Austin left abruptly before a live Raw, and then they had the whole company tear him a verbal new one on air, only to bring him back months later? -

That's why I don't squawk about the Giants playoff disaster against SF that ended with the non-PI call against a lineman who was lined up at the TE position, since they blew a 28 point lead prior to that, to get up to that point. The most memorable image that sticks in my mind from that game is TO dragging Jason Sehorn into the endzone, while Sehorn is clutching his arms around Owens' waist for dear life. YUCK what an awful game that was, right after the awesome 10-7 OT win in Week 17 against Philly to eek into the playoffs. -

The leagues are set up as they are (16 NL, 14 AL) so that everyone will have an opponent, rather than have 2 teams off for three or four days at a time. The Pittsburgh to the East and Marlins to the West is a much better idea. -

Everyone in the NY area was calling for the Mets to have big years from 2001-2003 when they signed all those washed up free agents, when I said every year they would be .500 at very best. Also, I have picked Atlanta over Philly in the last several seasons to win the East yet again, despite what the "experts" say year after year. That's kind of an easy pick though. After they beat the Yankees in 2002, I picked the Angels to go all the way. Before the 1996 season, a friend of mine was a Braves fan for a short time (We were 10 or 11), and he said something about the World Series, and I said (As a Yankee fan), "we'll see you there." What do you know, the two played in the Series that year. -

Luis Gonzalez' series ender in 2001, hands down, even worse than the Boston series loss. -

Predictions you got totally wrong.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to Damaramu's topic in Sports
I predicted the Giants to go to the 2003 NFC Championship game after a 10-6 playoff appearance in 2002, and instead they finished 4-12. I predicted that the 2004 ALCS wouldn't leave Boston, and predicted the Yanks to end the Series in every game from 4-7, though admittidly I didn't like going into Game 7 with Brown. Then I angrily predicted St. Louis (After predicting Houston to win the NLCS) to win the World Series, knowing full well they wouldn't anyway. I thought the Yankees 2002 team in spring training was the best team they had fielded of the dynstasy up to that point. I thought they would roll Anahiem in the ALDS as well. -

I'd say Warner's 2 MVPs and 2 Super Bowls equal more than moderate success, though since they lost to New England he's sucked the big one.
