That's what you have to sign up for though, if you want him at 32. Someone said in the offseason thread that you have to give up anything for Santana, because he is the best that there is. So, shouldn't the same apply here? And we aren't even talking about selling the farm, we're talking about millions upon millions of dollars that none of us here are paying, for the guy who may be the best player of all time.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. The Giants' O-Line is very good. Eli doesn't deal with pressure exceptionally well, but it's not on his blockers.

I like the Posada deal alot. 4 years may be steep, but he had to be brought back. Plus, he's had some (limited) experience at 1B in the past and I'm sure he could adiquately play the position by the end of the contract, or just plain be the DH. Giambi's contract is off the books after '08, so that opens up alot of possibilities for Posada, unless they go out and ink somebody big like Teixeira in the next few years.

This sucks. It doesn't mean that Pettitte is gone. Not even close. I know it doesn't. He is probably looking for one more contract so he can retire in 2 or 3 years. But it's just another thing to deal with, on top of the Posada and Rivera free agencies. Thankfully they picked up Abreu's option in the mean time.
