Orton and Cena are equally bad in the ring. Orton's only having better matches now because he's working with better wrestlers, just like Cena was having better matches a year ago because he was working with Angle, Eddie, Benoit... The quality of their matches depend on the quality of their opponents...much like Triple H and JBL. Their offense looks like shit(especially their finishers) and neither can be depended on to carry a match.

Actually, it's a little more digusting than that... In the scummiest urban legends thread, it said he was jacking off while the hooker took a shit on the glass table. What is it with wrestlers and scat?!

Other than his fued with Foley, Orton was never "on fire" as a heel, he usually drew midcard reactions, at best. Nothing about Orton resembles Main Event material... His offense is generic and his finisher comes off sloppy and poorly done. Comparing the RKO to the FU is like comparing a chinlock to a sleeper...both look equally shitty. His mic work is bland and incomparable to Cena's, who's heel promos in 2003 are significantly better than anything Orton has ever said since. As for their in-ring ability...neither are really any better than the other. Orton's only having better matches because he's working with better talent, although I do like how he sells certain moves. Other than that...Cena is far more over, marketable(only the female audience is really behind Orton), sells more merch and charismatic than Orton has ever shown signs of being. Cena has a better shot at being "the future of WWE", if(and that's a big if) Triple H was going to step down within the next 5 years. Batista could be a good short-term attraction...I don't really see him doing much after his fued with Triple H. Haas could be something if WWE gave a shit about him. Benjamin is a little bland and needs a stronger character.

I've seen and own just about every major WWE DVD, aside from Eddie's. My favorite by far is Foley's... Which probably has the best collection of matches and promos of any WWE DVD(yes, including Flair's and it's collection of *************** "classics"). I would rank the top 5 WWE DVD's(that I've seen) like this... 1. Mick Foley's Greatest Hits and Misses 2. Hard Knocks: The Chris Benoit story 3. The Rise and Fall of ECW 4. Ultimate Ric Flair Collection 5. Hulk Still Rules

Yeah, who cares if someone proved Eddie consistently draws the best numbers on SmackDown or that JBL consistently loses viewers. Why should little things like facts or statistics get in the way of your opinion...

What percentage of the WWE roster do you enjoy..
Jericho2000Mark replied to The Mandarin's topic in General Wrestling
Raw: Chris Jericho, Rock, Foley, Benoit, Batista, Tajiri, Rhyno and Regal, Trish & Flair in non-wrestling roles SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Big Show, Booker T, Paul London, Paul Heyman, Rey Mysterio, Charlie Haas 19/89 So about 21% percent... -
Bigelow and Slaughter were better wrestlers. Sid, Slaughter and Bundy were more credible main eventers.

WM 2000's main event was originally penned to be Austin-Big Show, but when Show didn't get over as they had hoped and Rock surpassed Austin in popularity in the fall('99), they changed their plans to a Rock-Austin rematch for WM with the roles reversed from the previous year(face Rock, heel Austin). When Austin decided to get neck surgery, they changed the plans to Rock-Triple H, with the main programs at No Way Out and the Rumble being Rock vs Foley(as a heel) and Triple H vs Big Show. They switched the programs to Rock vs Show and Triple H vs Foley because they thought Triple H vs Show would bomb, since neither were really that over at the time. They brought back Foley for WM because they weren't yet confident in Triple H's drawing power, and added Show to even up the heel side.

For me, WrestleMania XX was a one match show. Up until Benoit won the Title, the show was dissapointing. Especially the Brock-Goldberg non-match, the aborted return of Taker's old gimmick and a heatless Randy Orton beating Foley in his big comeback match. Eddie-Angle was good, but I think everyone expected a better match.
-
I agree, in fact, he was probably more over in mid-late '99 than at any time in 2000.
-
Inoki was the draw for that show, not Flair. Weren't the fans held at gunpoint to watch it anyway, or am I thinking of something else?
-
If you mean their peak in popularity, then... Austin(98-99) Hogan(86-87, early 2002) Rock(Mid-Late 99. Edited) Andre(late 70's) Sting(97) Flair(98) Bret(93-94) HBK(95)

I've seen him wrestle once, in a 1974 match against Mil Mascaras as The Destroyer in All Japan. He's damn good on the mat, and carried Mascaras very well. The match is shockingly good, but it has a lame finish, which is typical of Mascaras's matches when he isn't winnning, where The Destroyer accidentally headbutted Mascaras in the groin off a leapfrog spot. That match was way ahead of it's time. Probably the best Pre-80's match I've ever seen. -

Jericho. He hasn't done anything since his fued with Rock. When he WAS champion, he was booked as a jobber with a belt. Not to mention that he was pushed a year late. I don't think anyone with so much talent has been butchered by the bookers(and politics) more than Jericho. Until Austin returned in 2000, Jericho was the second most over guy in the promotion for most of the year. At the time, some even thought he would eventually replace Rock as the next major WWE draw. His merch sold well, and he brought a new exciting style to the Upper Card(back then, everyone was working the same generic style...like today). Yet after his fued with Triple H, the one that SHOULD have made him a major superstar, he was sent back to MId-Card hell to rot for another year. He didn't even see the Main Event until he and Benoit shared a fued with Austin in June, the following year. He's quite possibly the most versatile talker in the promotion, capable of cutting effective heel AND face promos(something Angle can't even do). Before being forced to work 5 minute matches every night, he was a great worker capable of carrying anybody...he might still be. Jericho could of accomplished so much more than he was allowed to. -

No one's really complaining, just stating what they would like to see more of. Most seem to be interested in the DVD, actually.

Who has been more sucsessful in WWE?
Jericho2000Mark replied to Frankie Williams's topic in The WWE Folder
Benoit's been in the Upper Mid-Card/lower Main Event scene since entering WWE. He had a longer run with the Title and had more Main Event runs, including high-profile fueds with Rock and Austin when WWE was at or near it's financial peak. Not to mention that he won the Royal Rumble(which, IMO, is more important than either World Title at this point). But he's never been a top star, even when he was Champion, just a strong supporting player. During his reign, he wasn't even one of the top two stars of his brand(which were HHH & HBK). Eddie entered WWE as a mid-carder and the number two guy behind Benoit in the Radicalz, but he worked his way up to the Main Event for a brief run. Unlike Benoit though, he was the number one star of his brand during his reign, but it was during a time when Smackdown was the lesser brand. His Title win was probably more anticipated than Benoit's and unlike WrestleMania, was the only reason people ordered the PPV-No Way Out(more people ordered WrestleMania for Old-School Taker's return, Foley's first match in 4 years, Rock's return, the "Semi-dream match" between Brock-Goldberg and possibly Eddie-Angle, than the Three Way). Overall, I would say Benoit's been more successful...due to his experience in the Main Event and high profile matches. -
Do you mean when he beat Douglas for the ECW World Title or Taz for the TV Title?
