    Question about TNAW ratings...

According to Meltzer, all of the shows averaged together average at a 0.25 rating which is above expectations.

3 things to make TNA better

Problem with that, and since you also mentioned that some people see TNA as a lesser version of TNA, is that it would make them look bush league. Subtle jabs could pass, but outright bashing would probably make them look stupid and minor league compared to the WWE.

Bands that could have been bigger than they were

Hardly, when a band that breaks on the scene and has the potential to be the biggest selling band in history, and biggest band of all time, and 6 years later they are finished.... that pretty much fits this topic very well. The point is, they could of been much bigger then they actually were. More popular then most hair bands combined at their pinnacle. Guns N Roses weren't really a hair band anyways. Bands like Ratt and Cinderella were. Guns N Roses played some pretty straight sounding hard rock for the most part.

Bands that could have been bigger than they were

I don't know of any other rock band from the 80's that debuted with selling 18 million records or something like that. They were an instant hit and could of continued on until their ego fest screwed them up.

Bands that could have been bigger than they were

Guns and Roses. They could of rivaled the beatles and the rolling stones for all time popularity. It's a shame really how they fucked everything up.

I'm pretty sure he's worked with Onita before since he mentioned something about it in an old commentary.

    NHL Off-Season Thread...

They are just playing in Europe until the lockout which will happen, ends. Once the season starts the guys who signed with European teams will go back to the NHL> Thortons problems seems to be with Boston though, not the NHL.

    Edge interview

Actually I think Linda was originally on the list. When I reprinted it I left off some people like Linda who don't really matter as well as ones Metlzer didn't know. The one's he didn't know had a "?" next to them and figured it wasn't really worth adding.

Taker is actually in his early 40's. 42 I believe. This was in the last wrestling observer newsletter where pretty much the whole rosters ages were listed.

    NHL Off-Season Thread...

Thats bullshit. Belfour consistanly plays 60-63 games each year, check his stats. He played 59 last year and that was with a couple of injuries. That is still a typical Belfour year in regards to games played. Toronto just tried to use him as a workhorse and he had back problems. He was on pace for about 69 games before injuries and that is just a stupid thing to do or expect. Hell, Belfour played 59 games and was just 4 wins under league leader Brodeur who played 75 games. Here is the last few years in regards to Eddie's games played: Year -- GP 97-98 - 61 98-99 - 61 99-00 - 62 00-01 - 63 01-02 - 60 02-03 - 62 03-04 - 59 So how exactly can't he play a full season when he has been consistantly playing full seasons as a number one goalie?

    Hardy/TNA update

I gave the ROH example as proof of his draw. Also its common sense. Jeff Hardy is more popular then anyone on the indies to the casual fan base. Thus a fan will notice him before some indy worker they bring in because that indy worker will be a "no name". NO indy worker will get the reaction and stir up attention because they have to still be built and marketed. People already know who Jeff Hardy is and he is a HUGE merchandise seller. Lots did and did you not watch or own the event? Did you not see how many Hardy fan girls there were that just came to see him. The only crowd that can compare with Hardys draw in ROH was the Muta show.

    Hardy/TNA update

He wasn't hyped so probably not. But the fact still remains that he is a draw. The ROH show that he appeared on had about 1800 there and alot were to see him. Plus casual fans know who he is. Super Dragon, Danielson, etc are far superior wrestlers, but the casual fan won't know them so they will be nothing and mean nothing. If they were signed they would have to be built up. Jeff Hardy is already over and lots of people, casual fans, already know who he is. Popularity means alot in wrestling. Its not the bands that are important, its the boy band image and the whole marketing behind it. Hardy still has a large fan base and can still push merchandise. Hardy equals money in the short term, and possibly in the long term if TNA can grow off of any success he may bring them.

    Hardy/TNA update

And not a single one of them can draw better than Jeff Hardy. TNA doesn't need better workers right now, they need to be noticed. Jeff Hardy can do that for them since he is still very over in the general wrestling audience and is a huge merchandise seller. Jeff Hardy is the type of person TNA needs. He also wouldn't have an obserd price tag with no return like a Lex Luger. Jeff hardy is to wrestling, what the backstreet boys and NSYNC is to music. Minimal talent with lots of drawing power.

    Smackdown Spoilers

This actually sounds like a decent episode. Not stellar or great, or poor or crappy, but decent. That does surprise me.
  18. The majority of this stuff was in the wrestling observer newsletter and it just seems some wording was changed around and so on.

    Brock Lesnar's Regrets

Even then I still don't buy, as well as many others that Lesnar could make that kind of money when it is obserd unless you are Austin or Hogan to get that kind of money in the business. Especially when business is down.
  20. stahl

ROH has lost a ton of money...

Yes, they don't break even from their PPV's. They would break even if they were getting 25000 buys or so. Not with 5000.

What does "hiring and firing" have to do with anything? RF Video is a bootlegging company. They will sell DVDs/tapes even with out permission.

    Brock Lesnar's Regrets

It would of been far worse if Eddie pinned Brock right after the spear. That would of looked like a fluke. The ending was as clean as can be given Eddies character of cheating. Meltzer understands the business and doesn't have an agenda like Brocks agent. Brocks agent wouldn't also be the first to manipulate facts in the history of sports. Fudging numbers makes for mainstream publicity when you get the story of the "Man turns down 10 million dollars to play for 250 grand and not even have a guaranteed chance in football" Even if Lesnar was making 5 million a year, that is still not 10 mil a year like his agent was reporting. 10 million dollars a year is also Austin and Rock money during the WWE's peak in the attitude area. Payoffs and bonus's are pretty low now and even with the past few years since business hasn't been that well. I find it hard to believe that Lesnar was making Austin money when Austin was 10 times the draw and probably 100 times the merchandise seller. Like I said above, even with bonus's, he wasn't making that much more, definatly not 10 times his contracts worth. Hogan got a 250 000 dollar pay off for wrestlemania 19, which was reported as one of the highest on the shows, and hogan was upset with that.

I heard the non compete claus was only supposed to be for a year. After that both parties can do as they wish.

    Brock Lesnar's Regrets

Brock was not making 5 or even 10 million a year in the WWE like his agent is falsely reporting. His downside guarantee was just over 1 million according to Meltzer in a past WO newsletter.
