Updated: 01-10-2004 (Fear my return... until it ends up that I no-show everything.) Smarks Board Name: Sly Wrestlers Name: Austin Sly Height: 6’ 3” Weight: 237 Hometown: St. Louis, MO Age: 27 Face/Heel: full blown heel Stable: None Ring Escort: None Weapon(s): Usually none but will use anything to his advantage. Quote: “You should’ve just stayed home today.” Looks: Austin's look has changed considerably since his first appearance in the SWF over eight months ago. Gone are the days of a carefree surfer lifestyle, now being replaced by a vicious streak that was only revealed after his quick fall from favor in the eyes of wrestling fans. His once highlighted hair has now been dyed black, stretching down to his shoulders and in front of his eyes. Due to the time off he had to take to care for his injured neck, Austin has had more than enough time to workout and scope his physique to a level that is best described as intimidating despite his short stature. Gone are his once ritual band tees, being replaced by a wardrobe of darker colors, featuring mostly black but he can still be caught in his old blue jean shorts and punk rock shirts from time to time. His ring and backstage attire has been combined, with the only difference being a long black trench coat that he removes before climbing into the ring. Ring Entrance: The lights in the arena go dark. Pitch black. A hush falls over the fans at ringside, as a single spotlight shines down onto the stage at the beginning of the entrance ramp. A quick excert from Rage Against The Machine's cover of "Beautiful World" plays out. "It's a wonderful place, oh what a wonderful place..." "For you..." "... for you..." "For you... not me..." ... Boom! Pyros explode from each side of the stage, launching a mix of red and gold stars towards the ceiling and cueing a change in music as Zach de la Rocha's voice once again floods the building, this time doing a cover of "Street Fighting Man". The arena lights pulse along to the beat. Fans at ringside don't seems to appreciate the obvious work that went into producing such a spectacle, instead booing the arrival of Austin Sly as he steps out of the curtain. "Everywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet boooooy..." "'Cause summers here and the time is right for fighting in the streeeet boooooy..." (Funyon stuff goes here.) With a look of disgust plastered onto his face, Austin slowly makes his way down the entrance ramp, the parted sea of humanity lashing out against him on either side. The man isn't intimidated, though, as he takes his time on his approach before casually rolling underneath the bottom rope and into the ring, the end of his trenchcoat trailing his every moment with an extra flare. He quickly paces the ring before making his way to a corner of the ring and removing his coat before hanging it on the ringpost. He stands in anxious anticipation, waiting for his opponent. (if he enters first, this is his routine... if not, you can substitute the second paragraph for whatever you feel fits best. Try and stick to the persona, please.) (You can take quite a few liberties with my introduction just so long as you stick with the basics... I don't want to be dancing down to the ring to Bon Jovi or some shit.) Stats: ¯¯¯¯¯ Strength: 5 Speed: 7 Vitality: 4 Charisma: 4 Style: He's a ground based wrestler. Yeah yeah... I know, that's almost unheard of! Well get used to it. His main two targets are the legs and midsection (which I didn't highlight very well in my moveset... but... whatcha gonna do?). He's also extremely cocky, and wrestles as so. Signature moves: - Backbreaker with choke hold (performed just like a normal backbreaker, but instead of letting the opponent roll off his knee, Austin places his forearm across their throat) - Reverse DDT with pin (after the impact, Austin reaches forward to grab the leg in more of a cocky pin... almost never gets more than a two count) - Double Arm DDT - Shining Wizard - Figure Four Leg Lock Common moves: - Springboard Elbow/ Dropkick/ Spinning Heel Kick (just springboards~!) - Belly to back suplex with bridge - Northern Lights suplex - Boston Crab - Half Boston Crab - Shinbreaker - Tornado DDT - Choke holds - Bulldog - Twisting Neckbreaker - Abdominal stretch (with rope when necessary) - Leg Lock/ Reverse Leg Lock Rare moves: - Shooting Star Press (This is *only* broke out as a last resort, big time move) - Running Sit-Out Powerbomb (probably his biggest power move) - Ankle Lock - Pheonix Splash (Moonsault into a 450 Splash, another last resort) Finishers: - Sky Surfer (Just a lionsault.) - So-Cal (Set up like most other top rope finishers, the opponent is to be sitting on the turnbuckle as Austin climbs to the top rope. He then hits a swinging neckbreaker to the campus below with both men landing flat. Particularly devastating and rare.) Notes: Austin is cocky, and wrestles as so. He can either slow a match down or speed it up, however the crowd pushes him that night. He's a very vocal wrestler in the ring, taunting constantly. He's slowly becoming more of an evasive wrestler, outmanuevering his opponent to get in his offensive moves. Bio: I never really thought out much of a biography, but here are links to my promos. I feel that they outline the character fairly well. I'm missing probably one or two show promos in here too. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=52899 - Introductory Promo http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=54159 - Post Battleground Promo http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=56348 - Introduction of NTD -
You seem to be under the impression that you still have some kind of draw around here.

No thanks, Mr. Greatest Cruiserweight of all time, I'm already working a program. Thanks for the offer anyways, though. - Austin "Rando held the cruiser title longer than you" Sly

Wildchild is overrated.

Well... heres my first major complain. I hate the way you write commentary. I'm not trying to be negative or mean, it just ruins my experience reading it. For example: Comet responds by mentioning that "Gilbert will have to deal with that a lot, he’s the smallest man on the roster" Could have easily been: "Citizen Gilbert will have to deal with that a lot in his career here in the SWF as he's the smallest man on the roster," Comet notes. Now while what I put down isn't GOLD~! by any means, it tends to flow a lot more smoothly and is easier to read. While we're at it, it seems you chose not to include any punctuation in you commentary. Aaaaaand... while we're at it... it seems commentary is fairly thin for the length of your whole introduction. I hope this doesn't continue for the entire match, or else it'll prove to be a rather plain read. This is only your second match back though so maybe you just haven't gotten used to the characters or something... who knows. If you'd like to talk about other stuff with your match... let me know.
-
Come back if you can write and be competitive. Or you can do it the Chris Card way and just come back as a manager.
-
Almost positive I wont be showing tomorrow. As much as I wanted this match to happen... I've got some serious shit I'm going to have to deal with for a good part of tomorrow. Having only 700 words done at the moment, I don't think I'm going to be able to bust a match out with the two or three hours I'll have free. I'm almost positive Dustin will have something though, so there should be something to fill the slot. Anyways, sorry Zed. I know I asked you for this and I'm letting you down. Same for the whole title thing... I shouldn't be no showing as a champion. Maybe we can get this match set up another time... put a fresh spin on it and hope it works.
-
Well... at least Los Angeles did better than Baltimore... I guess... even if my numbers all went down... and we ended up 8.0 Games out of the Wildcard Race... and... and...
-
Just a couple of things I'd like to point out about commentary... First, to who I would assume to be Max King... Bobby Riley is written as an obvious (for the most part) flamer. I.E., a homosexual... so him celebrating the arrival of a female valet would be quite a bit out of character. Second, I don't think I've ever really read Comet cursing during his commentary before... but maybe I just don't pay close enough attention to things. Anyways... show is still going up... we'll have to see how this turns out. Erum... maybe I read that wrong. I'm still going to leave it in there, just in case some of the newer guys hadn't picked up on that part of the character yet or something. Bah.
-
"Citizen Hunt and Citizen Sly are both of the upmost of character, they may not be a great superhero like some of your idols, but they display the type of caliber needed to succeed in this federation," defends Riley "In fact, I think Citizen Hunt may have the upper hand because I feel Citizen Sly may underestimate his abilities in the ring." That's the specific part that I was speaking of... Riley never calls anyone "citizen" and for the most part probably resents the fact that Comet does. Anyways... I'm going to try and work on my match for a while until I get bored of it. Then I'll come back and edit comments for you into this post.
-
If you want me to read and comment on the whole match, I will... but the first thing I noticed is that you switched up the announcer's gimmicks for a few lines there.
-
It seems rather odd to me that I'd been running a mentor angle with NTD for a bit and then you decide to pick up a very similar angle out of next-to-nowhere. Just my opinion, of course.
-
.... Bwahahahahahahaha! I can't stop laughing and it's starting to hurt.
-
Thanks Zed. I was hoping for a hardcore match, but this is nice too.

Well here's the comments that I promised you, Johnny (even if I don't know if I'm that great at this): - First thing I noticed was that you used a lot of commas in your writing especially in the introduction section before the bell actually rang. A lot of them just didn't seem to flow with the match and it probably would have been best to either reorganize some sentences to take out the commas or to just leave out some of the extra information you had. - Second thing I've noticed is that I believe you had at least one problem with usage. I can't seem to find it now to use the exact words as an example, but that just shows how minor of a claim this is. Also, just to lump this all together as grammar, I've noticed that you've left a few words out here and there. It's just the mind working faster than the fingers. I do that a lot too. - Tom shuffles forward, and once again snaps a headlock onto Johnny Dangerous, squeezing down like a vice on the Secret Agent’s skull. Johnny, seizing the only opening he can find, thrusts his forearm underneath Tom’s chin, forcing him back just far enough… then whips his legs around, looking to scissor the Superior One’s head with them. However, Tom sees it coming a mile away and quickly rolls out of harms reach. This transition from move to move reads a little awkward to me. Maybe it's just my lack of real knowledge when it comes to wrestling, but I just didn't see how it went from one to the other... know what I mean? - I'm starting to notice that the commentary repeats a lot. There's only so many times that you can hear that Johnny is going for broke and knows that he can't out wrestle Tom. Commentary is tricky to write at times, but it seems rather one sided at this point. - Just a side note, I enjoy obscure references. I don't think you can get much more obscure than Stretch Armstrong. - Some of the action around the first string of pin attempts seems to read a little thin to me and lack any real purpose. I just don't know why Tom would try and pin Johnny twice after nothing more than a German Suplex. This once again might just be my lack of wrestling logic. - desperately trying to pry them away before Johnny can land a suplex, but the Secret Agent shuffles backwards and jerks the Superior One into perfect place, refusing to give an inch. This reads as if Johnny pulled Tom to an actual location called "Perfect Place". I would assume what you were trying to say was that Johnny pulled Tom into a place where he can't reach Johnny to break the hold making it a "perfect place", or at least something of that nature. - Once again, there's some words in here that just aren't right. My best guess would be that you ran a spell check in your editing process and it just skipped the words seeing as they are correctly spelt, but still in the wrong usage. I don't particularly like the way the ending goes down, but that's just my opinion and not really something I feel I should correct in the match. Anyways... maybe some of this stuff will help you. I don't know what exactly I have in this post as I just commented as I went along.

There should really be more chatting on an event night.

No it doesn't... but there's another name you can call him by! "The Pantsless Wonder".
-
As far as I know all he ever used was his initials.
-
I guess I could have been a little more vague and just told you that it stands for his name maybe? I know what it stands for, but I don't know if he wants it spread around or not. Is it that hard to just write NTD all the time?
