I'm calling bullshit. Being able to spell requires little actual intelligence, if any at all. Its a memory test, nothing more. Arrange the 26 symbols in the same way they were first presented to you. No reasoning, deduction, or strategy is involved. There are autistic kids who can't tie their own shoes who are excellent spellers. Even then, it's one hell of a memory test considering the number of words that could be used and the general wackiness of the English language. If it really is pure memorization, you still have to appreciate the mental capacity a person has to possess to succeed in the competition, especially a person that isn't even in high school. Not intelligent? Hardly the case. Not socially apt? A different argument altogether.

Somebody has to explain to me what Reggie Fils-Am does aside from being the Shill Monkey for NoA. I'm still not sold on him.

Please tell me those are fake as in "she didn't go under the knife to get those monstrosities" fake. I love fake big boobs, but those are just uncalled for.

I'm fairly sure I'll be trading in for the Lite by the end of the year. I mainly want to see if any other color schemes come out and I also need a hands-on before committing.

Don't forget his role as the President in The Fifth Element.

To whoever took that photograph, I salute you, you lucky bastard.

The Smash Bros-eqsue version of the MSG Theme that plays when Snake gets out of the box makes that appearance much greater.

Yeah, I'll be damned that they brought over Ouendan. However, I'm not too surprised that it took Westernization and a re-package as Elite Beat Agents to do it. Though the loss of the J-Pop/J-Rock soundtrack and practically everything Japanese I love in Ouendan will make me sad, the re-package means new soundtrack and therefore new levels to play, which is definitely a plus.

Snake in SSB Brawl is possibly the damndest crossover yet. But my attention is currently drawn towards the new Phoenix Wright game for the DS. Fuck yeah.

My favorite moment was watching this one lady cry over a $3 late fee at Hollywood Video and her husband storming in and calling every worker within earshot a "fucking liar". The next ten minutes was him ranting while throwing DVDs on the ground, a customer getting ready to call the cops on the guy, and a really big man standing right behind the couple looking ready for a potential brawl. All the while my friend (the worker taking the brunt of the storm) remains completely courteous and smiling throughout the entire incident. Completely sympathetic to the situation, yet not caving in to the threat. He even gave them a "Have a nice day!" with a smile when the couple finally gave up, threw down $3, and gave a "Fuck your goddamn store" on the way out. I had to shake my bud's hand after that. Masterful.

2004 was a good year for EA football. I still have NCAA 04 and Madden 2004 in my library, yet sold the 05 and 06 editions. Playmaker is still a better gimmick than ones introduced in the following years (Hit Stick was OK and I still don't like QB Vision).

I have to nitpick for the camera seeming to be implanted in Cole's head, judging by the Titantron, and the usage of fluorescent light tubes. That said, nice video, but next-gen non-gameplay videos don't mean crap. They'll also have to show me that the SvR series can take the franchise 2 steps forward without taking 2 or even 3 steps back.

Goddamn, JLU is definitely prepped to go out with a bang next week. And Legion of Superheroes is getting a pre-emptive thumbs down.

The trailer made me believe it was going to be shit. The snippet of the carriage doing the flip made me believe there was going to be unintentional hilarity. Glad to know my suspicions were correct on both counts.

I'm thinking they probably used a photo that still had Benoit's nameplate on it, somebody realized it and they quickly altered it. Which makes no sense seeing as how they have promotional pics of JBL with the correct nameplate on on the title. I'll just attribute it to sloppiness in that case. Not sure if it was televised but: European vs Intercontinental - D'Lo Brown d. Jeff Jarrett

"Jings, crivvens." I will now announce the firings in alphabetic order. Everybody...that is all...

The one memory of 4 square I have was hitting the ball so hard it bounced up and hit one of the other boy in the face. It left a little redness, but he fell over and cried like it had crushed his cheekbone or something. Good times. I also remember the 2-rectangle variation that was essentially ping pong with a kickball and no net.

Saw a shelf full of copies of Monster Hunter for $20 at Fry's. I got tempted to pick one up as an impulse buy, but eventually resisted. I also realized that I have about 4 or 5 games that I've bought and yet to open. Once school goes into summer recess, it looks like I'll have some stuff to tide me over until Disgaea 2 hits the U.S.

Boiled down, Love Hina is fanservice, slapstick violence and a little bit of romantic comedy. If that's not your bag, it's not your bag. And what is up with the giant radish spaceship?

I doubt Nintendo would pull a swerve at this point in terms of the name. The strategy of letting everyone vent on the name now rather at be mocked outright at E3 is alot more plausible. Pulling out the great games around the first year or two of launch will equate to forgiveness, but they're still getting kicked in the balls at this point for the out there name.

On the flip side, the Trigun anime is leaps and bounds better than its source material. The manga gets to a point where the plot got so confusing that I simply gave up on it, not to mention the artwork looking atrocious and near incomprehensible at times. I'm all for breaking out of the cookie-cutter manga-ka style, but I at least want to know what I'm looking at. Blame that mostly on the industry's policy on striking while the iron's hot and putting out 13 or 26 episodes regardless of how much source material they have to work with. That and Xebec allegedly not having the budget to create a second series as evidenced by the extremely out of place episode 25. The anime ended things alright, even though I do have objections about some of the liberties taken (I'm looking at you, Moe.). I do agree that the manga was better especially at tying up the loose ends.

I've got complaints about the shield and gun combo. That makes no sense...

Bloodsport - "Chong Li! Chong Li! Chong Li!" - "You break my record. Now I break YOU like I break your friend!" - The splits punch UHF - The blind man and the Rubik's cube "Is this it?" "No." "It's this it?" "No." - The Wheel of Fish - Raul teaching poodles how to fly

Dubs are acceptable in my book, with a few exceptions (notables include the Kansai accent being dubbed into an American Southern accent at any time and Tenchi Muyo's Ayeka). However, I do have a preference for the original Japanese track with subtitles. In the end, I guess it's not too much of a deal with me, especially when I get it on TV for free. Special K, do you know any places in particular to pick up Vision of Escaflowne? I remember watching an episode or two back in high school, but never got around to finishing the series. On a side note, I picked up volume 24 of the Rurouni Kenshin manga. It's the first time an event in a manga has made my jaw drop.
