    WWE Folder sucks dick

I wouldn't combine the folder. The General Wrestling folder has become somewhat of a safe haven from the idiocy. Keep the "mouthbreathers" as we call them separate.
  2. Here's the semifinals. Vote totals can be found in the previous thread's polls. With both leaders winning by a two to one margin, it seems safe to progress. Voting will run through Monday night.

    Spring Training 2008

Rather than deal with that tripe strummer posted, let me link the latest blog post by Joe Posnanski of the KC something or other. http://joeposnanski.com/JoeBlog/2008/03/09...-and-true-wins/

    WWE 24/7 Discussion - March 2008

I created a topic in Site Feedback about trying 24/7 as its own subfolder. Weigh in there with your thoughts.

    WWE Folder sucks dick

I didn't mean it in that fashion really. There's just something odd by running to a different folder to complain about another one. Here's an honest question though. Establishing that the WWE folder sucks, how do we set about improving it? I notice there is a distinct lack of topics in that forum. If you feel you're an intelligent poster (speaking to the board at large here), start some more intelligent topics. What is the board's consensus on the General Wrestling folder?
  9. Making things a little easier. Pick two of the four choices in each group. The top two vote getters in each group will reach the Final Four.

    Quarterfinals, TSM Worst Poster Tournament

I still oppose an automatic ban. Of course I opposed turfing Damaramu and Wildpegasus as well, so take that for what you will. I'm generally not inclined to ban a poster unless they're belligerent as well as awful. I say a week's suspension for the original, during which time we come up with a blueprint for not sucking, presented to the winner. The winner should then take it upon himself to improve, or THEN face banishment.

I just found out Philadelphia is getting an MLS franchise for the 2010 season. About time, now I have a reason to watch.

Round Three, TSM Worst Poster Tournament

Mecca (12) truthiness (15) Chazz (10) edgehead69 (17) MVP (23) jericholic82 (4) Here is a result I disagree with. Jericholic82 is the worst poster on this forum, for several reasons. First, his posts are awful. The grammar is terrible, the writing structure is bad and he says nothing whatsoever of substance. Second, he stops in periodically and makes multiple posts at a time. Stop by the General Wrestling folder sometime and cringe at the line of topics that say, "last post by jericholic82." After he posts, he goes away for a couple of days again. The idea of a discussion forum is discussion! At least with a poster like Marvin you converse, make him your bitch and have a good time. No such luck here. For shame people. dustinbeaverton (18) Vanhalen (9) Enigma (14) majormayhem1 (13) EHME/Simon Brigante (14) Kawalimus (13) Marvinisalunatic (26) Flairfan (1) MOD BRACKET/FINALS! Round Three, TSM Worst Poster Tournament

I'm closing voting, results upcoming shortly. Sorry for the abbreviated length of this round, but it's either this or waiting two days. We've gotten 26 ballots this round, so we're just down nine from last round.

    WWE 24/7 Discussion - March 2008

The NWA weekly show was incredibly good this week. The crowd was insanely hot and the wrestlers seemed to turn things up a notch as a result.

    Recommend a Sports Book

My ten favorite baseball books I've read, in chronological order. The Natural, by Bernard Malamud Eight Men Out, by Eliot Asinof Glory of Their Times, by Lawrence Ritter Universal Baseball Association, J. Henry Waugh Prop., by Robert Coover Ball Four, by Jim Bouton The Pitch That Killed, by Mike Sowell Lords of the Realm, by John Helyer Whatever Happened to the Hall of Fame?, by Bill James The New Historical Baseball Abstract by Bill James Moneyball, by Michael Lewis I have heard so many people recommend Eric Rolfe Greenberg's The Celebrant that I am going to make a point to read it this month. In the above list I particularly wish to point of Glory of Their Times. It is flat out one of the best pieces of oral history ever produced, over 20 interviews of stars of the deadball era including Sam Crawford. Anyone who is familiar with Ken Burns' documentary would recognize many passages from the book.

    Recommend a Sports Book

Oh, The Book was just awful. They would pose a question like "Should the pitcher bat eighth" and then present 20 pages of regression analysis and tables and end with "batting the pitcher eight can lead to .5 extra wins per season" or some other non-sense. Even though I could understand the math (and I don't think most people would) I still couldn't figure out what they were trying to accomplish half the time. One of the big problems (and others do this as well) is that they establish a new statistic in the introduction, weighted OBP in this case. They then use the stat in most of their commentary. If you show me the numbers for a new stat, I'm not going to know what a reasonable threshhold is, I can't draw any type of conclusion looking at it. The biggest problem though is that while even if the analysis is solid, the writing just completely fails to interest the reader.

The Historical Abstract is fantastic, I still find it interesting six years after I first bought it. I can't say enough good things about it. The Prospectus book reads like a collection of term papers. Some of the individual chapters are pretty interesting though. I read "The Book" by Michael Lichtman and others, and found that one completely unreadable.
