For a more balanced approach along similar lines, check out Alan Schwartz's The Numbers Game. It goes back deeper to the days of Henry Chadwick, discusses Bill James and the Sabermetric Revolution, and gives organizations their due that Moneyball kind of dismisses. And for a book on baseball statistics, it really is an easy read. It's about the men behind the statistics, not the statistics themselves.

Mike Sowell's The Pitch That Killed. A riveting account of the Cleveland Indians' 1920 season, along with Ray Chapman and the Yankees' Carl Mays. It's written in the same style of Eight Men Out. A work of history that's written in the style of narrative.

Czech, that candy buttons rant is one of the most brilliant things you've ever written.

Tyson-Spinks was almost certainly the most one-sided major event, particularly since it was so quick. The 30-3 Rangers/Orioles game wasn't that one-sided, honestly. It was competitive through the sixth and then it just fell out of hand. It wasn't that one team was clearly better, it's just that funny things happened. Sports are odd that way. -
Al can't handle pain... EHME encourages it! Bullshit I can't. Two weeks ago I had a root canal done on my lunch break.

They might pull it off in England if they were willing to let Wrestlemania air in the afternoon again. New Wembley Stadium would be an attractive site. Otherwise, it will never happen.

You look like a bigger geek than I do. Fag.
-
Think twice about that. When I had a tooth pulled, I just wanted to bury my head for the rest of the day.

None. To the best of my knowledge, Wee Willie Keeler never stole a bass during a game in his entire career.

You had a question?

Round Two, TSM Worst Poster Tournament
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to EVIL~! alkeiper's topic in No Holds Barred
Ok, seriously people. I put Cheech in largely to fill out a 64 man bracket. Why is he getting votes? -
No objection here.

St. Louis is possible. Minneapolis though may be a couple years away from the wrecking ball.

And this man thinks I'm the biggest nerd here? Please.

Bobby Murcer received a clean bill of health today, fantastic news.

How about nominating threads, and putting one up each week to a "yay or nay" vote? -
So now Pennsylvania in six weeks? Shit. Pray for me.

I like MVP Baseball better but I find the Show a suitable little game in its own right.

Bought a copy today. The Show already has a roster available online.

Yeah, all she ever does is expose herself, do sloppy kisses, attempt to have sex, or do a bronco buster. Yuck. I don't see the humor in her or Big Dick Johnson. Outside of Mae Young's antics or in-ring persona, she is a legitimate legend in American Womens wrestling.
