Look at the NWA champions (while they were legitmate). There certainly isn't a cruiserweight in that group.

If you saw the forums the last two days, and knowing the last title change, you should've seen it coming.

If they go by service time, Hughes has exceeded 45 days on the MLB roster. 108 Ks in 74 innings for Chamberlain. Ian Kennedy meanwhile has 123 Ks in 106.2 innings. The Yankees have some damned good young pitching for once.

Here's a question. Is WWE's policy more or less credible than say, MLB's?

Milliondollarchamp, that stuff is true. Vince has nothing to gain from government regulation, and to be honest it's not really a good idea.

I agreed with the waiver decision, for what it's worth. The Phillies and Devil Rays were clearly circumventing the system. That said, Livingston has allowed 25 hits in 17 innings, and struck out five batters. It's smoke and mirrors.

    The Youtube Thread

Mankind's title win I've seen elsewhere recently. The Survivor Series '98 event doesn't hold up well because the one good match in there is marred by an ending so weak that WWE never showed it again on television. The Rock/Mankind feud was so full of screwjobs and dusty finishes that fans were relieved that it wasn't overturned this time, even if it resulted in a match where ten men stood around ringside and another three or four interfered in the match. If it was any wrestler besides Mankind, it would not be remembered in a favorable light.

That would be correct. The Phils were at .500 after 1921. They only had one winning season from that point until 1949.

    What If...?

    1. The New York Giants move to Minneapolis as originally planned. The New York Giants drew 8,493 fans a game in 1957, and that was an increase from 1956. Three teams in New York City were no longer sustainable and the Giants were the low team on the totem pole. 2. With Minneapolis no longer an option, the question is what becomes of Calvin Griffith and his desire to move the Senators. Congressional threats meant the league would need to keep a team in Washington somehow. I'd say the original plan sticks with an adjustment. Griffith moves his team to Los Angeles where they become the Angels. The American League adds two expansion teams, the San Francisco Seals and the Washington Senators. 3. The National League expands in 1962, adding the Houston Colt .45s. With New York City occupied, the best option is to add a second team to Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Stars begin play in 1962. From there everything proceeds as normal.

ESPN News shows that the Phillies have lost 10,000 games, an MLB record. It's silly to point out that it's a record, since they have held the record for losses long before this year. The thought occurs to me, when DID the Phillies set the record for losses by an MLB franchise? July 25, 1954. The Phillies dropped both games to a double header to the Cubs while the Milwaukee Braves defeated the Giants 7-5. The Phillies had first grabbed the record in 1948 but the Braves won it back with a 7th place finish in 1952. In any case, the Phils never relinquished the record again after this date. Not that they did not try. On the eve of their amazing division title run, the Braves stood just 34 losses behind the Phils following the 1990 season. Record holders following each season. 1876-81: Cincinnati Red Stockings 1882-92: Boston Braves 1893-1901: Louisville Colonels 1902: Chicago Cubs 1903-11: St. Louis Cardinals 1912: Boston Braves 1913-22: St. Louis Cardinals 1923-47: Boston Braves 1948-51: Philadelphia Phillies 1952-53: Boston Braves 1954-: Phillies

Blue Jays record that year, 67-94, finishing in last place. Good year. Ah yes. Probably in response to Marvin's unchecked optimism every year over his Orioles that lasts sometimes into mid-April.

Oh god yes. And that HiaC type cage match between Russo/Flair where Russo spent nearly two minutes in the figure four before they did the bloodbath spot.

    The Youtube Thread

Great moment, sure. There are dozens of moments in there though that were completely unmemorable because they were hotshot gimmicks designed to fool and shock the audience rather than make any sense. I've gone on record saying Wrestlemania XV was the worst of the bunch. The '99 Royal Rumble was the worst rumble match in company history. At some point he went to WCW and booked Mayhem, featuring the worst good match I have ever seen between Chris Benoit and Bret Hart. And that was the highlight.
  24. My memory is drawing a blank. Who/what was that? Undertaker/Muhammad Hassan angle.
