One thing to watch this weekend regardless. Mussina is going for his 20th win. Stupid as it may be, his HOF candidacy may be on the line. (I think he deserves regardless.)

Things aren't going much better in Philadelphia, I assure you.

Myers has nothing tonight. Get him the hell out of there. Edit: No, I didn't mean Condrey.

Mickey Vernon passed away today at the age of 90.

Lincecum. Second in ERA, first in strikeouts, 17 wins in front of one of the league's worst offenses. Just an outstanding season.

My Phillies Prize Pack came in today (the incentive for winning the "Stump the Fans" contest. This year's haul. Also picked up issue seven of the Phillies magazine. I'm going to love that ski cap come winter.

That's the plan. This way they get two more starts from C.C.

For discussion of World Class.

Your favorite Royal Rumble to Wrestlemania booking?

The Raw after 1998 saw Rumble winner Steve Austin mix up with Mike Tyson. I'd think that almost has to be the best choice. -

Yes. Three to clinch.

Understandable. When a team loses 3-2 though, I blame the offense. Milwaukee may have saved their season with a two run seventh.

I would hope sabermetrics has thoroughly disproved the "pitching to the score" theory. ANY pitcher is going to give up runs. Cole Hamels can not prevent runs by sheer willpower of his heart and guts. And Phillie devotees believing that crap has led to much of the ineptitude of the last fifty years. Who needs talent, we need more Pete Roses!

Did Mitch Williams advance the same argument? I don't make a habit of the postgame show.
-
Oh god. Do I even want to start?
-
Does this refer to Hamels or Santana?

Omar Minaya took over a team that finished below .500 for three straight seasons. Since then they have four consecutive winning seasons and a divisional championship. Currently they are heavy favorites to reach the postseason. Yes the team is flawed but this is the National League, where nearly every team has some flaw. Must we really demand absolute perfection? That type of thing is reserved for Yankee fans. I know some will point to the bullpen. Billy Wagner got hurt, and who could have expected the absolute crash of Aaron Heilman? There are other good pitchers, but they have tough platoon splits and the aforementioned failures of the first two have push the latter too far. Bullpens are volitale, and I can't see canning a GM because of the failure of one.

The ovation for Benoit I believe is overblown. Flair namedropped Benoit as well as many other Horsemen. Perhaps Dames can drop in and provide some clarificiation.

This Day in Wrestling History (Sept. 22)
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to cawthon777's topic in General Wrestling
This aired on WWE 24/7 several months ago. Really fun match. -
Thankfully I was able to accommodate my work schedule, but having a time change less than a week in advance is quite tiresome.

I can't speak to his pitching (though he's durable), but Marquis is a former Silver Slugger award winner.

Happiness is looking at a crucial game and seeing Omar Infante as the opposing cleanup hitter.

Hardball Times gives David Ortiz 31 win shares in 2005. He played 148 games at DH. An oversight?

The relationship between Toronto and Syracuse soured, perhaps because Syracuse was frustrated at the quality of play and prospects. I think Syracuse envisioned acquiring the Mets, but Buffalo swooped in on that one.

And Tiger Stadium hosted the Detroit Lions for 36 years as well. In many ways, Yankee Stadium could not compare to Tiger Stadium.
