I've had it with Kevin Millwood. I'm convinced he's never going to be an ace starter, and he's certainly not worth $10 Million a year. Career ERA+ Numbers (100 is average) 1997 104 1998 104 1999 162 2000 100 2001 102 2002 127 2003 103 It's not that he's bad. But he's average. There are dozens of guys like him, many available for much less cash. The Phils should let him walk after this season.

    Bertuzzi Charged

In fairness, Washington did have a case that he acted in self-defense, as Tomjanovich was running towards him at that moment. Baseball and basketball fights, when they occur, are usually face-to-face encounters. There's a difference between fighting, and an assault.

Thus justifying any and all bitching I've done about these threads. Why don't we start a separate thread for the Sox/Yankees series?

The new column is up, featuring thoughts on the Beltran and Garcia deals. The link is in my sig.

Just wrote up the trade for my column, and man this trade sucks for the Sox.

Decision on Expos move delayed again

New stadiums, even taxpayer funded, can do cities some good. Cleveland is a good example. However, far too many are built for excess, such as in St. Louis. Seriously, why the fuck does Busch Stadium need to be replaced?

I wouldn't go so far to go after Guardado. If the Phillies can trade Howard for anything decent however, I'd go for it.

You're buying into the lies here. "Build my stadium or we'll move the team." Its borderline extortion. The Brewers, or nearly any other team, did not need a new stadium. New stadiums do not keep teams in cities, or make them competitive. They provide extra cash for owners.

Moore ripped to shreds in review....

Lets see..... "I was banned because I was right!" Does Dave O'Neill have a twin brother or something?

Just caught the Devil Rays-Marlins highlights. Holy fuck is Joey Gathright fast. He makes contact and draws walks, but has no power (11 extra base hits in 633 minor league at bats coming into this season). Should be interesting to see how he develops. He hit .326 in a brief trial in AAA.

Dotel did pitch well in the 8th and 10th, so it wasn't TOO bad of a performance. One mistake to Pierzynski cost him.

A's win in the 10th, and Dotel picks up the win.

Harden injured his non-throwing shoulder, so there's a silver lining.

1998-2000. Thanks to tourism, there are an overabundance of Yankee fans in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Well, pitching the ball is part of the game. Tackling a player is part of the game. Punching a player in the face is not part of the game. On the reverse side, if on-field incidents can't be prosecuted, what's to stop a player from going balls-out to cause injuries?

I had to deal with 3 years of asshole Yankee fans. You'll live.

Astros win Beltran sweepstakes; Dotel to A's

But the odds of that are pretty slim.

Personally, I think we're a long ways away from counting the Astros out of the race.

Essentially, he's waiting for the best stadium deal to come forward.

An article printing tomorrow on page one of the Washington Post..... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...-2004Jun26.html The article chronicles the new ballpark in Milwaukee, and the troubles it has caused.

I still maintain that if they got owners who cared about the team, and got the team a decent television deal, the team could draw in Montreal.

A similar chart indicates a net loss. So there's debate. In any case, the chart posted here indicated the run expectancy increased by 0.09. Now if you look at those numbers, it is a good move, if the sacrifice bunt is executed perfectly every time. However, its not. A pop up, fielder's choice, or even a double play could occur. And the possibility of those events outweigh any minimal increase in run expectancies.
