They need to fix the save rule as well. If the tying run is on deck, its a save situation. The game only recognizes a 3 runs lead or less.
-
Marvin, the problem with that analysis is that there is increasing evidence that pitchers have less control over hits allowed than we once thought. Ponson's been one of baseball's unluckiest pitchers so far this season in that regard.
-
As per the Bulls dynasty, there's always hatred of dynasties, for the simple reason that when one team wins, 25-30 other teams do not.
-
I'm calm. I might be preaching to the choir here, but I just think discussion is better served when we have a specific topic to discuss. Alot of OaO threads are meaningless drivel that resemble chats more than discussion forums.
-
Its not that thread in particular. Its just these threads pop up like locust when they are completely unnecessary. We had a OaO NBA and a OaO NHL SEASON thread for christ sakes. Only quick thinking prevented a OaO MLB thread.
-
I really resent this nonsense of trying to railroad every single topic of conversation into single threads. A specific situation such as this, or what Kobe does, or the draft, or an important trade, or an important free agency signing, deserve their own threads. They are specific topics of conversations. Now that KingPk is a Sports Mod, he should really put a stop to this crap.
-
Cherry-picked quotes is more like it.
-
Yes, which is a complete load of crap and should be ignored.
-
Absolutely not. Between Jason Michaels and Ricky Ledee, they have plenty of outfield depth.
-
Looking over statistics. For all the talk that Citizens Bank Park is a hitters' park, it is actually favorable to pitchers. The Phillies and their opponents hit better on the road, and they have a Park Factor of 0.934 (1.000 is balanced).
-
He did shut up. Remember when we all chastised him because he was surly, and never talked to the media? Some people can't win.
-
As an aside, Utley hasn't really played all that well. A .261 OBP is simply unacceptable.
-
Better yet, play both Polanco AND Utley, and bench either Rollins or Bell. And as Pinjockey said, heaven forbid they cut Doug Glanville. You can't find a .500 OPS just anywhere.
-
So parity is a sham. Interesting. Kind of casts some light on the MLB vs. NFL argument.
-
Not necessarily. Even if he pitched perfectly, someone on the Yankees needed to score a run. If you can't pull ahead after twelve innings, you can't count on winning the game.
-
So his father was treated badly, and he's bitter. It's no worse than some of the ignorant opinions some on this board hold. Its not like he came out and shouted them. A reporter asked him a question, and he answered. Big deal.
-
I disagree. The results of Kobe's trial will have drastic implications primarily in the sporting world. Its a sports story, and those interested most are sports fans. Besides, one thread is hardly offensive in the grand scheme.
-
Yes. ESPECIALLY the Kobe Bryant trial, and the NBA Draft.
-
Makes sense. I'm still holding out for Jack Chesbro night.
-
Do we really need a single thread for EVERYTHING NBA related? This OaO thread shit is getting tiresome.
-
I'm surprised he didn't have one already. Ruffing is often overlooked because his stats are distorted by the big hitters' era he played in. But he's in the Hall of Fame, he won six rings with the Yankees, and posted an amazing 82-33 record in the Yankees' four year championship run. In addition, he was one of the greatest hitting pitchers of all time.
-
My point is often misunderstood. Basically, it boils down to this. If they are a great team, they should be able to continue winning for more than one season. If not, they are generally a fluke team. That is not to say the Tigers were a fluke. They were very good.
-
Fairly good trade for both clubs. Mets get a right fielder, and they improve their bench. The Astros get some much-needed bullpen help, and they have Jason Lane taking over in right field.
-
Lance Carter is acceptable. He only closed last year, pitched well, and the Devil Rays had no other quality relievers on their staff. Jimenez I agree with.

It would have to stop raining in Philadelphia first.
