I dislike interleague play, as it really fucks with the schedule, as teams play drastically different schedules. If the schedule was balanced, I'd be ok with it.

Not being an NHL fan (but not a hater), I could probably give decent perspective. I think Messier and the Rangers is probably the top moment the NHL would mention, besides whatever moments Gretzky holds to his credit.
-
Quite honestly Philly fans SHOULD boo the horse. Not because he failed, but just because you have to maintain that hard-earned reputation, and booing livestock is our next great achievement.

No insult towards the Orioles intended. They needed a shortstop, and got a good one. The Athletics just had an obvious candidate who performed well in the PCL, so there was no need to resign Tejada. Besides, they'll get two players out of the deal in tomorrow's draft. As for Borowski, I buy the injury because his BB:K ratios are terrible, unlike the rest of his career.

Jack Buck beating the 1991 World Series is nonsense. Who the hell really remembers that speech as a great sporting moment? Miracle on Ice is an easy, non-controversial #1.
-
Its hard to say, as Farnsworth posted truly excellent seasons in 2001 and 2003. If he can get into a groove, he has potential to be one of the better relievers in baseball.
-
They've got to use Madson as a starter. He's been a good reliever, but not letting him start because he's a good reliever would be so utterly stupid that it would defy explanation.

Why does Smarty Jones count, but Bernard Hopkins doesn't?
-
You're underestimating Dominguez. He struck out 8.78 batters per 9 innings in the minors, with a 2.9 K:BB ratio. Excellent numbers. It was only a matter of time before he put it together for the big club.

From an outsider's perspective, perhaps the New York Rangers in 1994.

I'm looking forward to catching the results, even if even I don't know most of the players, and we won't know the successes and failures for several years.
-
How a team looks is not always indicative of how they play. If they're down trodden, it may be because they are losing, and not the other way around.
-
Its one thing to bitch about your team's performance. But its another thing to insinuate that they lost simply because they did not try.
-
Because Crosby projects to be as good as Tejada. The better question is why should organizations waste money on overrated players. If you're going to spend money, spend it on a position at which you actually need a player.

I actually found 10 worse players than Sharperson. Rest assured however, he'll make my list of honorable mentions.

So let them quit. We don't need commissioners with vendettas.

"When I came up to bat I just wanted to make contact. After the first pitch, I just wanted to live." -John Kruk, following his All-Star game encounter with Randy Johnson

What exactly has Steinbrenner done wrong? I hate the Yankees, but they've done everything fair and square.
-
Luccino did such a fine job running the Padres and Red Sox that he'd make a great commissioner. Really. He'd have his head stuck so far up his ass we'd never even notice Selig was gone.

I'd assume the Yankees eat part of that contract.

Depends on the player. Europeans have generally played against stronger competition. But the original question didn't include college players, so its no contest between the other two.

Lesson #1 of the nonsense of the save statistic. Dusty Baker places Joe Borowski in the game to pitch the ninth. LaTroy Hawkins, their best reliever, pitched a perfect eighth inning, and could likely have pitched the ninth. However, since its a save situation, the manager just has to use his heralded closer. And of course Borowski gives up a run. And right after Borowski gives up that single, he's pulled from the game. Why? Because its no longer a save situation, and Borowski's not good enough to be trusted with a tie game. What the hell kind of logic is that? Some of the crew on MLB radio a few weeks ago proposed a radical solution, and I agree. The save should be ABOLISHED as an official stat.
-
I think the Europeans are usually more polished, due to experience. Not sure about upside, but smart organizations usually take the safe bet.
-
I think it really boils down to what team is winning at any given time. Only real exception is the Red Sox in Boston. Even the Yankees take a back seat during thier (few) losing years.

God bless this move. Runner on 2nd. Batter hits a pop fly on the third base side. Their 3B goes to catch it and I notice no one is covering the bag! So I steal the bag on a pop foul.
