Like other sports, one might sell the fights to network tv, and make a profit on television advertisements.

Man I'm glad I drafted Randy Johnson. -
I lost 65 lbs. in nine months. It took diabetes to do it, but it happened. At 22, I weigh less now than I did when I was 15.

Weird trade on my franchise. Cubs traded Sosa to the Toronto Blue Jays for Carlos Delgado. So the Cubs now have a scrub at right field, Delgado at first, and Derrek Lee on the bench.

Coors Field in Colorado is a highly underrated park.

I wrote about that in another board. That is exactly the nonsense that is killing boxing right now. Promoters have an incessant need to sell everything they can get their dirty little hands on. Fights in Vegas in front of $1,500 seats shown on PPV for $50 do little to entice the average fan. Boxing is the only sport where you have to PAY to see championship events.

Use your cash and the amateur draft. I'd like to know if the system gives free agent compensation. But what's the point in building for the future when your future is now? If you're not going to make a run for it now, are you ever?

Not this time. I didn't see the game. I just read the PBP. Madsen and Cormier were used, and Worrell had only pitched to two batters in the eighth. I don't think there was a better option.

You ALWAYS go for the Series. "Flags fly forever."

I hate the Lakers because their two big stars are a rapist (or at least an adulterer) and a big guy that starred in Kazaam and inspires Aaron Carter to sing.
-
Fuck the curse. The Sox have pulled miracles out of their ass just as often as they've blown it.
-
Ah. My mistake then.
-
We hate these teams because they win. When they win, OUR teams don't win, thus breeding resentment.
-
Sorry 'Sault, but Clemens beats Schilling. A better comparison is Tom Seaver.
-
The Orioles have survived because Groom, Julio, Ryan, and Lopez are all pitching lights out from the bullpen.
-
I believe its possible. Many of the Rockies teams lately would suck at any altitude. The pitching is a problem, but teams have won before at extreme hitters parks. I think if you were to plug a top team into Coors, they'd still win. It comes down to talent, and the lack thereof hurts the Rockies more than the altitude.

What a comeback game for Ponson. One out away from a shutout.
-
The scary thing is that they have two guys in their rotation WORSE than Estes. And as far as Beltran, Big Unit, etc. go, these teams are MUCH better off going for draft picks.
-
Oh yeah, Schilling is easily the Cy Young leader so far.

I'm thinking of addressing this in the column. In the postscript of Moneyball, Michael Lewis rips into what he calls the Womens Auxilery, a group of sportswriters whose job it seems is to exclude outsiders from the inner workings of baseball. Tracy Ringolsby in particular. I think Kruk and Reynolds fall into this group. Michael Lewis than stated that the ignorance of these writers is what enables the A's to win so many games. That they speak for the inner members of baseball, who also go out of their way to denounce Moneyball, in spite of solid evidence that it works. Their ignorance and stupidity continue, aided by the inner circle of the broadcasters and writers, and the Athletics continue to win.

Yes, but Kim's under contract fairly cheaply for next year. Pedro and Lowe are free agents. So the Sox have Schilling, Wakefield, Arroyo, and Kim for next year. Let Kim go, and the Sox will need to replace him next season.

"The more we lose, the more he'll fly in, and the more he flies in, the better chance there'll be a plane crash." -Graig Nettles on George Steinbrenner

I wouldn't trade shit for Lowe until he learns how to pitch again. 20:17 B:KK ratio is absolutely abysmal, and his ERA reflects it.
-
But they'll need to replace Kim somehow. That will cost money.
