Link Good move for the Expos, although I'm still puzzled as to how they'll pull the team from the doldrumms. In any case, this takes the only good 2Bman off the market this offseason, and eliminates the possibility of the Yankees trading for him.
-
Holy shit. I did not see that result coming.
-
To answer the Yankees trivia earlier, along with Ford, Vic Raschi, and Allie Reynolds, three other Yankee pitchers have won six World Series. Red Ruffing, Lefty Gomez, and relief ace Johnny Murphy.
-
Why don't the Yankees trade for Craig Counsell? He's a servicable replacement. Not an all-star, but he'll provide league average OBP. The Brewers have a surplus of middle infielders, so they can spare him. And Counsell can play all over the infield if needed.

Sturtze is no more an answer to the Yankees pitching woes than Donovan Osbourne.
-
Why the heck would Arizona take Lowe? He's overrated, and a free agent after the season. I can understand Johnson's frustration. Watching the Phillies/D'backs game a week ago, the D'backs pissed away the game with shoddy defense.
-
Phillies fans are apt to mention Joe Carter, but I maintain 1964 is the worst moment in Phillies history.
-
It is on topic. Damon is part of this trade, and whether or not he has a Samson complex is vital to understanding his future value. Enough with the Thread police.

Phillies win in spite of Thome's glovework. Just one of those nights for Jim. Phillies pull to one game behind the Marlins.
-
With today's win, Tim Hudson is now 50 games above .500 (84-34). Outstanding.
-
Badly-groomed teams..... 93 Phillies 70s Oakland Athletics It really doesn't matter, except from an image standpoint. Winning starts first and foremost with talent.

Perhaps. But the way I see it, he's never been in trouble with the law. Same with Clemens. These "asshole" characters the media and fans love to tear down do nothing to earn those labels outside of their dealings with the press. The real assholes are committing crimes, raising havoc, and not contributing. Bonds hits, and that's my only daily viewing of him. Therefore, he's OK in my book.
-
How is that classless? He's getting fair value for his abilities, something for which ALL of us strive. The videogame thing is pointless. Three minutes of editing and you've got him in MVP Baseball. And I don't think a lack of $150 jerseys is hurting anyone.
-
Thank you for reconsidering. And I agree. Take the personal stuff to Hardcore Discussion.
-
What "classless" things has Bonds done lately, not involving the media?
-
Today's Phillies lineup includes Doug Glanville and Tomas Perez. Ugh.
-
Its strictly pitchers, and it doesn't have to be a starter. You're on the right track. There's three other pitchers with six World Series wins with the Yanks.
-
straight World Series
-
Here's a trivia question. Which Yankees pitcher has won the most World Series WITH the Yankees?
-
Braves vs. Braves tonight, as the Milwaukee Brewers are wearing Milwaukee Brave throwback uniforms.
-
The Royals should just let Beltran leave via free agency and take draft picks. Then they'd get two guys in return under their control for six years of major league service.
-
Anyone ever listen to the MLB Radio shows? They're fairly good, and a real step up from the BBTN crew.
-
The trade has a 5% chance of actually happening, if that. Why trade value for Beltran when he'll be available this off-season anyway? For that matter, why acquire players now when there's a slew of available talent waiting this offseason?
-
First off, Moneyball does not prescribe that philosophy. It simply states that you can make an estimation of how defensive moves will effect your team. That done, you can measure whether the offense will offset the hit in defense. Sabermetric teams do not punt defense.
